November - RIP Eva Kipler

We lost one of our own this week.  Normally I don't try and censor, and probably never will again.  All I ask is that you be respectful when talking about Eva, and to each other when discussing her. We all deal with loss in our own way.

I will not delete or remove posts that don't follow what I've asked.  I just hope that you can show her the respect that she deserves.

RIP Eva Kipler.

^^^what's the chick blitz? I'm feeling out of the loop.

Anonymous said...

It's new, and it's like the Farmer's Market - going on now. $1.00 for Dollar kits, alphas, templates - same complaints as SO - some designers went whole hog, others held back, you know. It is what it is.

197 - If a product preview doesn't appeal to me I won't be opening it up to look at the description. Do you open up every product in a store to read the description? I didn't think so.
----------

What does this even mean? It's not even relevant to the conversation. Clearly the product did appeal to some people and they read the description and still couldn't connect the dots. However, if the preview didn't appeal, it wouldn't matter whether or not it was connected to another product.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said... 197
So, the fact that they kept repeating that it was one of their favorite things in the various kit descriptions wasn't a big enough clue?
______

Therefore the response:
197 - If a product preview doesn't appeal to me I won't be opening it up to look at the description. Do you open up every product in a store to read the description? I didn't think so.

is in fact relevant to the conversation. Perhaps not the entire point, but nevertheless relevant.

Not to mention how many designers say something is their favorite thing in a product description? More than these two in this particular "collection".

In any event, the point is, it was short-sighted for SO NOT to connect the dots for those that might not be familiar with the song. They lost sales, and that is the bottom line in any business.

Anonymous said...

is in fact relevant to the conversation. Perhaps not the entire point, but nevertheless relevant.
---

No, it really isn't relevant. If you don't like the preview, you wouldn't buy it just because it's part of a collection.

As for saying 'favorite thing', yeah, some designers do, but not in a collab set made by the same designers released on the same day.

I agree that SO should have linked, but they didn't. It wasn't hard for me to find the products and I don't even shop there.

Anonymous said...

They didn't lose sales. I bought the entire collection because you all were talking about it and I thought it was cute. I'm probably not the only one that fell for the blatant advertising on this blog.

Anonymous said...

I thought all designers were required to participate in SO's farmers market? Thaty Borges and EarthArt International don't have anything in the FM. I know Thaty is new(ish) to the store, but so is Red Ivy and the rest of the AFD crowd. They participated. I mean, I'm not saying I'll never buy from Thaty just because she didn't participate in the sale, but at least Kristin Aagard (another AFD transplant) and the others put in $1 packs.

Anonymous said...

Apparently it isn't required because they aren't participating and they are still in the store.

Anonymous said...

I think TDC's chick blitz blows SO's FM out of the water. I'm normally not a serious "fan" of either, but I'm loving the $1 items from TDC!

Anonymous said...

I'm shopping Chick blitz now and I tend to agree - I have cart fulls at both stores but may not bother going back to SO to actually buy those.

Anonymous said...

Apparently it isn't required because they aren't participating and they are still in the store.
---
Yes, "apparently." What I meant was, Why isn't it required? I'd think that a sale as big--and as heavily promoted--as SO's FM would be contractually required. At least put one item in the FM to look like you care about participating in store events.

Anonymous said...

Pffft, because some designers would never sign a contract that required them to sell their products that cheap. I've never needed to and wouldn't start now. And before you state the obvious, it would be deal-breaker for me in considering that store altogether. So thanks for tipping me off.

Anonymous said...

I'm probably not the only one that fell for the blatant advertising on this blog.
---

What advertising? Oh, some mentioned it? I contributed to that conversation and as I said time and time again (I know you don't who I am as I'm anon but I did mention it my posts about the subject, so ... ) I don't even shop SO. Sometimes it's just happenstance.

Anonymous said...

So thanks for tipping me off.
----

About what? Someone's theory about contractual sales? Right.

Anonymous said...

I doubt they'd want a designer that is too uppity to participate in a store wide sale even if it was a $1 sale. So you're too good to offer even a mini or an alpha at that price once in its sale price? Pfft. I highly doubt it. Get over yourself.

Anonymous said...

I bought plenty at FM this time. At least I know stuff from SO will be good quality. TDC is hit or miss at best. I tried a few of their designers after Nicole sold it and never went back.

I'm surprised that 2 designers at SO didn't put items for sale at the Farmer's Market.
I still at a big sale I just don;t remember which one if it was last years Black Friday or INSD in May where all the designers at TLP had a forum game where you would write down your favorite product from each designer and there would be one winner from each designer. Every designer participated except CD Muckosky. I still remember it and it didn't give me a good impression about her.

I hope your designs are better than your attitude. You sound like an arrogant asshole. Some of the best designers in the industry sell at $1.00 sales occasionally and I doubt they "have" to. It's great p.r. for future sales and it's also a nice thing to do...

What a jerk.

Last week SSD's collabs were $7.99 and now they are $8.99. It seems they upped the store prices a bit because of the Black Friday 40% off sale.

----
All the collabs in my wish list are $7.99 and the sale price reflects that as the regular price.

Anonymous said...

#32- Jenn Barrette and Traci Reed both upped their collab prices and solo kit prices to $7.49 and $8.99. It's not every designer that did it.

Anonymous said...

#32 it's the same on my wishlist.

#28 Some collabs have been priced at $8.99 before but the majority of them are $7.99. What collabs are you looking at?

Anonymous said...

Jenn Barrette's prices are all over the place, so it seems she prices on kit size and not a set price. I'm not a fan of Traci's, but a quick look in her store shows kits at $7.49 and $6.99 among other prices.

That tells me no one adjusted their prices for BF, but that they price according to kit size/contents.

Seems pretty standard to me.

Anonymous said...

Collabs with TLP designers are higher priced because TLP charges more.

Anonymous said...

#35- I was more or less talking about the $8.99 prices on collabs I saw. I think collabs should be the same price for all designers in the shop.

This is me, VERY UNIMPRESSED with LP's sale. The worst, IMO.

Anonymous said...

Of course, I'm not enthused by the Chick Blitz either so I might not be in the majority w/my preferences.

Anonymous said...

I am totally underwhelmed by TLP's sale. Totally insulting actually. They would have been better off to do nothing. I won't even look at their stuff now, and I had planned on spending money there if the sale was decent.

Anonymous said...

WTF??? TLP is having a 25% sale???? only on new products and christmas stuff?
Are they crazy??
I'm so pissed right now,I was planning on making a big shopping spree there. I guess my money will go elsewhere.
TLP is definately the new SSD in the sales category!

Anonymous said...

Sorry I'm #45 and I didn't see your comments #41 #44 #45.
Once I opened the page I wanted to comment right away because I'm so pissed. I totally agree with you guys. Yes I'm insulted.
That sale is worse than an out of the blue sale most stores have everyday. Not for Black Friday.
And they didn't go all the way on DSD. They had a 35% sale.So they have no excuse just that they have to get off their high horse!
They will we losing lots of cash this year.
Now it's time to give conrats to some storew for respecting their customers.
Scrap Orchard for having a great Farmer's Market again as promised.
Scrap Matters for having a 35-45% sale although they had a 40%sale on DSD.
SSD for having their biggest sale on Black Friday 40%.
TDC for having the $1 Chick Blitz.

Anonymous said...

Scrap Matters:‎$2 flash sales starting soon! Every 2 hours from 8am to 8pm EST a new product will be available for only $2. These shenanigans will be going on thru Monday, so be sure to stop in frequently to see what the next great deal is!

Now that's what I call respecting your customers!

Anonymous said...

#47 - I am not sure it respects Aussie customers if they are bound to miss most of that event. Also, even if living in the US with access to it during the day, I would be frustrated to have to go check every 2 hours to possibly get a good deal. I have other things to do during the day than come back every 2 hours.

Also, is it logical for a store to offer only one product on special at the time? That means that if like 5 items, I will have to make 5 transactions, adding Paypal fees to the store 5 times, thus reducing the amount the designer gets. Humm... If they had say, 10 items at the times, it is more likely that a customer would buy for more than just $2.

Thanks, Amber!

Anonymous said...

I don't see how SM's sale is respecting any customer. Certainly not a customer's time.
That SSD's sale is more impressive than TLP's should say something. Maybe that person talking about how they wouldn't cut their prices designs for TLP.

GingerScraps has a coffeeshop with pretty good deals, too. I guess designers will be adding items throughout the weekend as well. Not at all impressed with the chickblitz. Nothing that I had to have even at that price but I do give them points for the sale.

I found the TLP sale insulting.

Anonymous said...

I would prefer they would just drop everything in the $2 category and leave it there so I can buy what I want and move on. I don't have time to sit and watch sales all day. They would make more money that way too.

Anonymous said...

I'll be very unhappy if they put something on flash sale that I bought today in the regular sale. I'm assuming digi doesn't do price adjustments.

Anonymous said...

I'm not at SM, but I do try to watch what my customers are purchasing - if something were sold at a very low price just after they purchased it I would be happy to issue store credit. I would be annoyed if that happened to me, to say the least ;)

As for "credit" to stores for having good sales - well, it is what it is. We worked long and hard trying to create a great plan; obviously it will please some and not do a thing for others. November is difficult to balance with two big sale dates, you do the best you can to keep it interesting and relevant.

Anonymous said...

#49 I'm not Amber.
I'm on facebook all day so I like the idea of coupons and flash sales as extras on top of the stores sale.
I just wanted to share my Joy but most of you have to find negativity everywhere.
I prefer the Scrap Matters approach to Black Friday than the insulting 25% sale TLP has and not on all Christmas items.

Anonymous said...

I had over $75 in my cart at TLP waiting for a sale. Nothing? I just deleted the items in my cart.

Anonymous said...

I plan on giving SSD a good chunk of change today when I have time to shop. I had also planned on getting the rest of my wishlist at TLP today, but at 25% for Black Friday, they can keep it all. I wont be back. I'm glad Kate Hadfield opened her own personal store, because TLP wont be getting another penny from me.

Anonymous said...

TLP's BF sale sucks. Black Friday is about BIG sales, not a piddly little 25% off. But, Valerie Wibbins has a BMS deal. $100 for her whole store, but it sounds like you add that special deal to your cart and then add everything else all at once. So, one transaction BUT you've got to add 17 pages worth of stuff if you actually want to buy her whole store? That sounds like a PITA. But at least she's having a great sale. TLP is going to miss out on scrappers' money this black friday. TBH, I'm not going to buy Valerie's store. If it were $50, I would. (And no, I don't expect designers to cater to my price point; I just want to spend money in more than one place today.)

Anonymous said...

Shouldn't all these stores have big sales on Cyber Monday instead of Black Friday?

Wow!! TLP lost a lot of cash today!! Lots of pissed customers including myself.
The thing is that not all shops have sales but you can't have a 40% sale last year and then go lower this year. That's a big mistake. Customers don't forget. Once you start a sale you can't go back or lower. Can you people imagine what would happen if Scrap Orchard stopped the Farmer's Market? Chaos!
I'm so disappointed in TLP.
The money I was going to spend at TLP will all be going to SSD. Time to clear my wishlist.
I've course I'll be shopping at other stores too.
I'm glad that most stores have sales for 2-3 days it's too stressful to shop for so many things in one day.

I'm another disapointed at TLP decision about their sale. My money that I had budgeted for TLP is now being spent at SSD and OSD.

Curious to know which you think have good or bad quality too. I haven't bought from her before but have always wondered if Kimiric Kreation's products are as blurry as her previews make them look. Some of her products use cute color swatches and the thumbnail preview makes me click on it but then when I see the preview it looks like a blurry mess. I think it might just be her shadows though? Have always been curious but haven't pulled the trigger bc I don't want to waste money. If it is just the previews then someone needs to teach her how to preview so things don't look like they are floating.

Anonymous said...

I don't know why everyone is so surprised by TLP's sale. I've shopped there for 5 years and I don't think I've ever seen a sale for more than 30%..and they only do that on quarterly sales and DSD or NSD. Last year's BF sale was the same as this year's. 25% Disappointed? Ok. But "insulted"? That's hyberbole beyond what is typical even for this blog. Also..I follow some of the designers via newsletter and they are typically good about offering coupons. I get some disappointment but it's not unexpected, in my experience.

Anonymous said...

I checked it out. TLP didn't have a Black Friday sale last year.
They had December Deals all through December with 25% sales.
Why was I waiting for a bige sale then? My subconscious tricked me. Bummer.

If their sales strategy wasn't working for them, they would have changed it years ago, the fact that they haven't tells me it's working for them. So LOTS of cash and LOTS of pissed off people? Nuh uh, maybe a few on this blog but that's about it.

Customer with no horse in the race here, popping in to say, Kimeric has some of the best quality in digiscrapping. Ultra-clean edges and nothing I have ever downloaded has been the slightest bit blurry.

I went to TLP to see if anything on my wishlist was worth the price at 25% off and there was nothing I needed in the short run, but I ended up deleting a whole bunch of stuff that I'm not sure why I had it on my wishlist. If it had been a great sale I probably would have just wholesale added it to my cart without thinking too much about it. I am not mad at TLP at all and I feel like I actually saved some money - and hard drive space.

^^^^^
I'm #60. Facebook makes a distinction between a promo and a contest. It's a contest if only a few people can get the coupon code and its a promo if anyone can get it within a certain time frame. Contests are supposed to be run through apps, not off of the page. Same thing goes for people who run 'comment on this post and I'll pick a winner' posts .. those are also against FB terms.

I'm putting my money on it now that next year TLP will have a Black Friday sale and that soon(in December) they will have a sale for some reason to increase their sales.
I'm absolutely sure that they lost lots of customers these days which chose to shop elsewhere.
I still think after some major stores closed that TLP got on a high horse.
Very disappointed and I'm a regular customer.

I was going to spend $50 at TLP today but now that money is going to SSD. The other $150 is going to be spent at various stores including SO.

All these stores just had sales 3 weeks ago for iDSD. What more do you want? It's silly that there are 2 big "sale" days in one month anyway. I don't have a tantrum if the earrings I want at Target never go on sale. I either pony up and buy them, or I don't.

Anonymous said...

Well too bad DSD is the same month as Black Friday.
I can never have too many sales.

Anonymous said...

You're a bunch of big babies throwing a temper tantrum over a sale! Grow Up!

And if you think TLP is going to change their approach because of the opinions posted here, you are dead wrong. They regularly offer 50% in SOSN which no doubt keeps the money streaming in. If you want a sale, watch for that!

Anonymous said...

I've only bought a few things at SO so far, and I'm not a regular customer there. I did have gift certificates for two other stores that I also used this weekend. I only used one of them though because I had to use it by the end of the month. I wouldn't have used it otherwise.

I'm unimpressed with Ju Kneipp at SSD. I don't normally like much at SO, so I didn't buy anything there. I would have bought from Tracie Stroud, but I already had everything I liked that she had in the Farmer's Market. I don't like her monthly collections.

Why would you put things on your wishlist that you aren't crazy about?

Anonymous said...

#105 Hahahaha good one! I don't know? I'm still wondering why I did that? I guess I overdosed with digi shopping...
I don't want an empty SSD folder and if these items are on sale at the end of the year at 50-60% I would buy them. Sounds crazy huh?
And that's how I ended up having tons of digi files.

Anonymous said...

97-If you didn't "get it" then you were probably an Obama voter. dumb.

Anonymous said...

Saw this on a designer's Facebook page. Really doesn't make me want to download her freebies or buy from her.

PLEASE READ and I don't mean to be rude at all:
Please don't sign up for the newsletter after I have sent the newsletter out, and please don't email me asking if I could resend it to you. If you would like to receive future emails please sign up for my newsletter. I will send out a newsletter once unless the links are broken or the coupon code doesn't work. Please don't take advantage of me and my business. It's not fair to myself and to my other customers.

Anonymous said...

who wrote that ?

Anonymous said...

Dealing with people who have signed-up for your newsletter is just another part of the business. It's called customer service. Something many designers are lacking.

Maybe that person wants your freebie, but the reason you're sending out freebies is to gain more customers. Not going to gain any with that mentality and odds are, you'll lose a few.

Some of these designers just don't get it.

Anonymous said...

#107 - If you honestly think all Obama voters only support him because of "freebies", you really need mental help. Is Honey Boo Boo your cousin by any chance?

Anonymous said...

Wow that is rude actually. I'm happy to forward my last newsletter to someone who signs up after the fact. Mommyish has links to her last few newsletters on her site so anyone can access them. That's why I signed up for her newsletter actually. I found the links and decided it was worth my time to sign up.

Anonymous said...

Then that's you #108. No one is making you buy, or download anything from that designer. At lest she was making a point to some who think they can get away with taking advantage of the designers who actually make this a business. Seems like she wouldn't put up with it.

Anonymous said...

Am I missing something? I don't understand how she's being taken advantage of if a customer asks her to send the newsletter to her (the customer) after it has already been sent. The customer can ask but you can say no. It's not like you're obligated to send or forward it to them.

I don't know who the designer is but the tone of that post seems unprofessional to me especially if it was directed at just one person.

Anonymous said...

It could of been directed to more than one person or it could have been something that happened more than once. You don't know so why judge the way she made it public?

Does a big store send out a newsletter to someone if someone emails them saying they missed it? No...

If the newsletter was sent out say Monday at 7 am and someone signs up at 12 pm on that same Monday, would you resend it to those who signed up at 12 pm on that same Monday? I'm sure you would not. Everyone runs their business different, so why point fingers and talk about someone if they run their business different from yours?

Anonymous said...

Why wouldn't any designer or store send out a newsletter that likely features new products, sales, etc to ANYONE who asks - regardless of when they signed-up? I can't even imagine refusing a very effective sales tool to anyone who asks for it. Why even bother selling at all if you find people asking for your marketing materials a PITA?

Anonymous said...

115 - Yes, I would and I have. I have guarenteed a newsletter freebie to everyone who signs up by a certain time even though the newsletter had already been sent and more than once too. I have forwarded my recent newsletter to those who signed up later and requested it. ITA with 116 - I would never refuse to send my marketing materials to a customer who requested them.

If this is Royanna we're talking about, it probably happened all of once and she's making a stink about it to get attention.

To the poster who thinks people voted for Obama because of "freebies". I'm sure you also think legitimate rape doesn't cause pregnancy either.

Anonymous said...

Royanna is making me laugh. Maybe she should retire. She is such a flake and gives one excuse after the next. She tells people that the next part of her challenge will be up on a certain day and then never delivers. She only leaves the links up for a day so if you forget you are out of luck. I'm sorry she's sick and all that, but she is ridiculous.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, because everyone lives in the US and everyone there votes. Derp. Moron.

Seems like she's running a cottage industry and has no clue what a business is.

Anonymous said...

Everyone runs their business different, so why point fingers and talk about someone if they run their business different from yours?
-----

Why not? You probably do with real businesses in the real world. Why do some of you always say, don't judge, it's just a digi scrap business. That doesn't negate the fact that it's still a business.

Anonymous said...

To the poster who thinks people voted for Obama because of "freebies". I'm sure you also think legitimate rape doesn't cause pregnancy either.

And Hurricane Sandy didn't cause flooding because if it's a legitimate flooding, your house will have way of shutting that down.

Anonymous said...

The day Royanna treats this like a business and not like a personal contest to see who can get the most attention let me know. She's sick all right. Sick in her head.

So will you share with us who is the designer that wrote that on her FB ? even if she might have deleted it by now it would be nice to know.

Your statement is too stupid to even address.

When illegals are allowed to vote, and when there is no voter ID required to vote, the election can be stolen. Also, when 51% of the people that do vote are the takers, and the non-workers, and they vote to raise taxes on everybody else so they can have more freebies, there is no hope for the USA.

Anonymous said...

Ok #129 we get it that you are one of the racist republicans. Get over yourself and realize that we don't give a shit. You lost your election so what I did too and I am not here crying about it on a "digi" smack blog.

Aw, didn't you get the wittle joke? Apparently not, but what else should I expect from someone who clearly supported Romney. Now, having said, keep your political crap off this blog. No one gives a rat's fart about your recycled views from Fox News.

Anonymous said...

Back to Royanna - didn't I see she had 12,000 fans on facebook? Isn't that the highest number in all of digiland? If she's as awful as everybody on this blog says she is, then how on earth does/did she get all those fans?

Anonymous said...

"Fans" can be added in many ways, and the numbers might not reflect whether the person/designer/store is really likeable. Freebie hunters can often add to the total number of "fans" without them being really fans.

Anonymous said...

I don't understand why so many people on this smack blog smack about a designer but they don't mention who the designer is. What's the point? If you plan to keep it to yourself then don't mention it. If you mention it tell us who the designer is so the discussion can have a meaning.

Anonymous said...

A Pet peeve I have is I would like a timeframe to be mentioned on sales posters because I live in Europe and I'd like to know exactly when a sale is going to end.

Anonymous said...

I had to search who Royanna is. I didn't have a clue everyone was referring to Divine Digital. I used to shop there ages ago. I completely forgot about that shop.

Anonymous said...

Studio RA Designs has 443 likes and
Divine Digital has 1726 likes. Where in the world did you see 12,000 fans on facebook?

Anonymous said...

So will you share with us who is the designer that wrote that on her FB ? even if she might have deleted it by now it would be nice to know.

Not the OP but I Googled it and found it:

It's still there, entry on Saturday.

Anonymous said...

Oh why so mad #142?

Anonymous said...

#139 - Oooh, even more snappy come backs! I'm so impressed with your vocabulary and intelligence. You amaze me, you really do!

#140 - how does being a black conservative negate you being a racist? Oh, it doesn't.

#143 - why are you so mad?

Anonymous said...

#142 Please explain to us why you "wouldn't download that crap if she paid you"? I for one would love to know.

Anonymous said...

Uhm, because it's ugly as hell is my guess. Her shop is hideous!

Anonymous said...

#146 Can you please add more detail than "it's ugly as hell" and "hideous" because that doesn't really explain why you don't like her or her products. Sounds like there is more to it.

Anonymous said...

#147 Not the OP but if you look at her CU. She can make a shoe that is so realistic but the groom's suit and the dresses are just plain ugly. She uses lots of CU but she does sell some. I wouldn't be supprise if these were stolen. We are talking about STS and Nicole who is ok with copyright infringement

Anonymous said...

I'm not 146, but most of her kits seem to use very dingy colors. There's no variety of texture. I can't tell you any more because none of the little previews appealed to me enough to look at the larger version. I realize color preference is an individual thing, but her palettes are going to appeal to a very narrow sample of scrappers.

Anonymous said...

#145 and #147 - why so interested? If you are Christine, own up. You are lucky you received civil replies to your questions.

Anonymous said...

#150 I'm not Christine or Christin or whatever she goes by. I just wanted to know a real reason. From what #142 and #146 posted it seems as if they had something else on her. Sorry it is a smack blog and I was curious to know.

Why when someone wants to know more they think it's that person they are talking about?

Anonymous said...

Saying something is ugly is a real reason. Anyone with eyes can deduce what is unappealing about her products. If you had gone to look yourself and you can't figure it out by looking, you apparently like ugly and therefore are beyond help.

Anonymous said...

Why when someone wants to know more they think it's that person they are talking about?
--

I didn't think it, if I had thought it, I would have said - Christine, quit asking questions. I asked if you were, as I wasn't sure. There's a difference. I didn't get the vibe at all from #142 and #146 about there being something more. Seemed pretty clear it was just about the product.

Anonymous said...

Just because I wanted more details means I need help or beyond help? Classic...

If you would you read what I posted, I clearly say "it seems as if they had something else on her. Sorry it is a smack blog and I was curious to know. " So ugly is not a good or real reason for me.

Anonymous said...

#151 Why if you are not her would you care?

Anonymous said...

Ugly and unappealing is a real reason. The colors are dark and gross. I've seen that color palette for Autumn Breeze 100 times and I've never seen it so drab and grungy looking. Christin could certainly spend some time learning about drop shadows, I can't even begin to decipher what that template with the ovals is supposed to look like. The previews are way too small to begin with and then she divides them by four, you can't tell what anything is, it's just dark, blurry blobs that don't make me want to look closer. Typical for the store though. Nothing is packaged well or visually appealing. Also not the OP.

Anonymous said...

I just wanted to know. This is a smack blog isn't it? I wanted to know if there was something about her to really smack about.

Anonymous said...

If they did have something else on her they would have said so. You are looking for smack where none exsists.

Anonymous said...

Keep in mind I'm not the only one who asked why #143 was mad or sounded mad. #144 also asked the same thing. :D

Anonymous said...

#159 - Oh! In that case...

You're still beyond help.

Anonymous said...

I just wanted to know. This is a smack blog isn't it? I wanted to know if there was something about her to really smack about.
--

Are you new here? Sometimes it's just about the product. And sometimes when the product is smacked, people get confused and think it's the designer that's being smacked, like they are they same thing.

Anonymous said...

#144 also asked the same thing.
---

No, I didn't. #143 asked about #142 and I asked about #143, not #142. Go and check again.

Anonymous said...

#162. Thanks for making it clear. LOL

Anonymous said...

Just checking the posts makes it clear.

Anonymous said...

I really don't want to read it again. It was boring enough the first time.

Anonymous said...

I Hate the new sales that are popping up today unexpetedly. I don't have money in my debit card,If I knew designers would pop out sudden sales I would have deposited money today. Now it's too late the banks are closed.

Anonymous said...

I was not impressed with Digital Design Essentials Grab Bag.

Anonymous said...

166, email the designers requesting a coupon. I would do that for a customer!

Anonymous said...

Umm, 166 - it's CYBER MONDAY. "The biggest" online shopping day of the year. Quit your whining.

Poor planning on your part does not necessitate an "emergency" on my part.

Anonymous said...

I'm not saying it isn't my fault too but a little adverisement that there will be sales on Cyber Monday would have been nice. I didn't expect it to be Cyber Monday Surprise Digi Sales Day.
After DSD and Black Monday a heads up would have been nice so I could plan to have money for today.
And yes it is Cyber Monday but I don't buy anything else online except Digi supplies so you don't have to be snarky about it #169

Anonymous said...

Going to check out the app store. It's Tuesday here already, so I haven't checked today.

Anonymous said...

Cyber Monday has been a digi sales day for many, many years. It is not a surprise. However, if you want to purchase something and cannot until tomorrow it never hurts to ask the designer in question. I would also make a coupon for someone that is unable to purchase unexpectedly.

Anonymous said...

#172 you don't understand what I'm trying to say. Before every other major sale there are ads about the sales coming up but not for Cyber Monday. I would appreciate it if the designers that have sales today had mentioned it at least yesterday that sales are coming up.
I'm not referring to Black Friday sales that are going on for 4 days but unexpected sales that showed up today.
Jessica Sprague's store is 40% off today only and Jennifer Barrette is having $2 flash sales.

Anonymous said...

Where is Jennifer Barrette having flash sales? I'm not on FB and can't seem to find them?

Anonymous said...

I'd like to know too about Jenns sales...

Anonymous said...

Her sales were only on her FB fan page, linked to her personal store. I wish she'd advertised in advance too, because I missed her first kit and that's the only one of the ones she put on sale that I liked.

Anonymous said...

#176 Glad to find someone here who agrees with me about the advertising part. I don't understand designers. Don't they want to sell?
Jenn Barette had a buy my store offer for $50 for 6 people it was gone in 30 minutes.
I think she put 4 kits on a $2 sale today.
That's the third designer I've seen put a buy my store offer this weekend.
Valorie Wibbens and Gina Miller too.

Anonymous said...

I would have bought her store especially for the low price tag of $50, I am sorry I missed that one. I just checked my email and apart from Brittish Designs I don't seem to have anything about Cyber Monday sales from any other designers.

Did anybody get any deals today?

Anonymous said...

My problem with the flash sales (like the one-hour sales OScraps is doing today) is that I'm not at home all day in front of my computer. An hour isn't enough time when I'm playing Taxi for my kids.

Anonymous said...

#178 Cyber Monday was an out of the blue sale in digiworld. Not all designers participated. Just a few that didn't have sales on Black Friday and I'm not refering to the extended sales of Black Friday.
Oscraps had 30% flash sales for an hour. That was a joke.
Jenn Barrette had $2 sales on a kit at a time 4 times total. She then decided to give out to 6 lucky people access to her store for one year for $50,to old products and new for a year. And she erased it so I can't copy exactly what it wrote.
Jessica Sprague had a 40% sale today.I saw it on Dani Mogstad's wall. I was disapointed she didn't have a sale on Black Friday, luckily I got the one kit I was missing.
A few Scrap Orchard designers gave out coupons but they already had sales going on today.
Gina Miller had a buy my store for $100.
I don't remember anything else.
So ..it seems digi supplies don't have big sales on Cyber Monday.Just a few exceptions or extended sales from Black Friday.

Anonymous said...

I didn't know Jennifer Barrette had a personal store. I also can't seem to find it by googling does anybody have a link?

Anonymous said...

http://www.jennbarrettedesigns.com/store/

and yes, I found it on Google...

Anonymous said...

Did you discover any great new to you designers during the sales?

Anonymous said...

I just discovered Danielle Engebretson at ScrapbookGraphics. IMO her stuff is great. Didn't have spending money anymore though so put it all on my wishlist.

Anonymous said...

I love Danielle Engebretson. She's not new to me, but her stuff is great. I tried Createwings @ SO because I miss Irene Alexeeva's stuff so much. I was annoyed that there were duplicates of everything all mashed into the folder. Usually Macs put everything in a MacOS folder, but these were all loose. So, I deleted all of those. Then I had to delete all the extra pre-shadowed elements that were also dumped into the folder.

I wish designers would remove the extra Mac files or at least contain them and then put the pre-shadowed elements in their own folder. Preferably their own zip so I don't waste time and bandwidth (mine and the site's) to download. All of the extra stuff was 55mb that I deleted.

The products themselves look nice, though. It's just a PITA to sort through all the extra crap.

Anonymous said...

#185- It seems like that is common at SO. I have downloaded from some designers and the MAC files are IN with the other files and not in it's own folder. It isn't that hard to put them all in one folder so we can either chose to download it or ignore it.

Anonymous said...

There was talk about facebook and its rules about contests/promos, and guess what SO posts today? Info on a contest on their site: "Looks my feeling was right on! If you'd like a chance to win a $10 coupon to mle Card's store, zip on over the Buzz and play along!
DISCLAIMER: This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with, Facebook."

Based on the timing, it seems like someone reads this blog. They aren't running the promo on fb, so I guess it follows the rules. I just love that people talk about fb here on the smack blog and the next time SO has a giveaway status update, they make sure to have a disclaimer. Hey, SO peeps readint this: I love your site. Thanks for covering your ass so fb doesn't shut down your fb page. I'd be pissed if that happened.

Anonymous said...

Yep its totally OK to mention a contest that is happening elsewhere (your blog, forum, etc) but you can't do one of those 'comment on this post and win' or 'the first 4 people to use this code win' promos that are happening on lots of designer's FB pages these days.

I'm glad SO is playing by the rules.

It pisses me off the number of designers who don't.

I remember when Enchanted Studio Scraps (now closed) lost their FB page and everyone was 'oh no!' about it as if ESS was the victim. Um ... rules are rules. Yes, Facebook doesn't always enforce them. But they are still rules and at any time, without warning, the can be enforced. And it's nobody's fault but your own for not following the rules in the first place.

Anonymous said...

#187 - I don't doubt that someone from SO reads this blog, but I've seen that disclaimer on their FB page prior to today.

Here's one from 11/13 https://www.facebook.com/ScrapOrchardFans/posts/550901334925707

I agree that this rule is too frequently overlooked by far too many designers & stores. I'm just waiting for another big name to get their page shut down for a terms violation. It's kind of ironic considering how rabid some are regarding following their TOU yet they don't abide by Facebook's.

Anonymous said...

Quite honestly, I'd rather FB follow all their rules and shut down all those hate sites etc, but they never do. But no, someone is running a contest against the rules and all hell breaks loose. Fucking hypocrites.

Anonymous said...

#190 I couldn't agree more.

Anonymous said...

188- What did ESS do that broke the rules? I dont remember?

I agree- if FB is going to enforce rules for contests, they need to enforce all the rules. They leave hate sites alone, but post a breast feeding pic or a contest and all hell breaks loose.

Anonymous said...

DDH? What store is that? I don't see it on the side in the list of store/acronyms...

I think she means DHD.

Anonymous said...

Ahh...Thank you!

Anonymous said...

I really want to get back to designing. I'm just not sure what I have to offer - what's appealing these days? What are people looking for?

Anonymous said...

Just my 2 cents:
Art journal type seems to be popular.
Disney themed kits will always have a market.
Vintage style elements.
Painted alphas.
All about me serious kits seem to be making a big appearance too.

Anonymous said...

Thanks #199 - basically nothing much has changed.

Anonymous said...

Art journaling is what used to be called "freestyle" but it seems to have a bit more grunge thrown in. Most designers offer what looks like a mess and call it Art Journaling.
