And how would Gennifer know whether Kami reads here or not?

Anonymous said...

Gen never said that.

Anonymous said...

Too bad there isn't an anonymous facebook page where you can out this kind of stuff to customers.

Gennifer said...

I certainly did not confirm that, 1! Kami has told me she doesn't read here, in fact.

Anonymous said...

You mean like here, #4. Why would a facebook page communicate any better than here? And probably many scrappers don't really care especially if they didn't purchase the kit in the first place.

Anonymous said...

I agree #6. Judging from all the facebook posts on the PP, SO, and SO designers pages gushing about the free kit, not that many people actually bought it at SS when it was there. Sounds like Penny and her crew are upset that SO got more exposure at PP than her site.

Anonymous said...

Actually it sounds like people who purchased the kit are pissed off that it's now being offered for free.

Anonymous said...

This is only a little different from buying a kit and the next month it's discounted by 30-40-50%*. Are you mad then, too?

* I say this because you got two other kits in the Stack.

Anonymous said...

#1 - I think Gennifer has just referenced conversations with Kami on this blog, not actually confirmed her reading here.

I know for a fact Kami and at least a few of the SO designers read here. If Kami is saying she doesn't, she's a liar, too.

I'm not putting any of them down for reading here. I think it's smart especially during a time like this so they know what they're doing is upsetting customers.

I'm sure a lot of people didn't buy the Scrap Stacks, which is why it's even more idiotic for SO to give it away for free instead of putting it on sale in the store. They could have made some money for the store instead of giving it away for free AFTER it was on sale elsewhere.

Dumb all around.

Anonymous said...

A sale is different than FREE, moron.

Anonymous said...

Maybe they don't need they money but were more interested in exposure from Persnickety's thousands of regular customers?

Anonymous said...

Not to mention all the negative exposure by giving away a kit for free that people paid for the month prior... either way you slice it, it reeks of stupid.

Anonymous said...

I downloaded the kit - it's ordinary. I deleted it. I understand that's not the issue but SO wouldn't have my business with that kit.

Anonymous said...

#13 - it doesn't seem that there is a lot of negative exposure judging from the FB pages. This blog is still a very small part of the digi world, no matter what some think.

Anonymous said...

9 - Usually, yes. However, it's different when it's being recycled for publicity. I'd be pretty pissed if I were Persnickety. They exchanged publicity for what should have been a unique freebie for their customers, not something recycled from last month's promotion elsewhere.

Anonymous said...

Yes, all those freebie hunters thanking SO for the free kit really means more than actual paying customers pissed off and deciding to take their money elsewhere.

This blog might be small, but there are a lot of customers like me who at least READ here who aren't designers or CT members. I'll never shop at SO again after this nonsense.

I would think angry customers impact a business a whole lot more than some positive comments from freebie hunters.

Anonymous said...

They probably just haven't noticed that they already own it, since duplicate purchases seem to be an ongoing problem around here.

Anonymous said...

I guess we will see whether or not SO goes down after all those customers don't shop there anymore, AGAIN, after reading some 'scandal' on this blog ... oh, wait.

Anonymous said...

I bought it last month and I could care less that they are giving it away this month. I'm not even sure I finished downloading it last month. I got busy.

Anonymous said...

I think if you have a problem with what SO is doing, take it up with them. Not shopping there anymore isn't telling them anything, because it's probably not as many customers as some seem to think.

If a store did this IRL, I'd bet that some of you would be complaining to the management, instead of just not shopping there anymore.

Anonymous said...

I'm 20-I should also say that I don't shop at SO.

Anonymous said...

I agree with #9. It's not really any different than buying something one day and finding it on clearance the next week.

I think it's lazy on SO's part. They should've done something new for a new promotion. But it's not something I care about enough to stop shopping at SO.

Anonymous said...

It's $5, people, for a download that was a part of a multi-kit collab. Yes, it stinks for those who bought it. How many really did? Is the number that high? Might Persnickety have known about it? Maybe. I think they probably didn't. Should Scrap Stacks shore up their contract? Probably. Is it bad business on SO's part? Probably. Is it worth boycotting the store over? Probably not. Tell the store owners, make your feelings known, see how they respond. Judge them by that response.

I don't think so. I find the whole question/answer style of the post patronizing, outdated and boring. Sometimes less really is more.

Anonymous said...

27-There is definitely more about this subject here than I care about, and I bought the kit.

Anonymous said...

Anyone who thinks complaining to Kami at SO will do a thing has another thing coming. They don't care and never did or will.

Anonymous said...

Oh, I'm sorry #28. I didn't realize this blog was for only the things you care about.

Anonymous said...

If ScrapStacks didn't put any limitation on what could be done with a ScrapPack kit after it's been featured, then SO didn't do anything wrong. They didn't get the money from the Scrap Pack and they aren't getting it now.

FFS, the kit in the Scrap Pack only cost around $1.66. Now it's free, big whoop de doo.

Anonymous said...

I agree it was a stupid move on SO's part. Personally I think boycotting the store is overly dramatic though. If I see something I like there I'll still buy it. Why punish talented designers for a dumb mistake a store owner made?

Anonymous said...

Well, it's subjective whether anyone made a mistake. Again, we're talking less than two dollars. Some might think it's really not that big of a deal and that there are more interesting topics to discuss....

Anonymous said...

Next time you go into the grocery store and they over charge you $1.66, I'll bet you'd be up at the customer service counter wanting your cash back.

It's not about dollar amount. It's about principle. I understand many of you have no idea what that means.

Anonymous said...

#38 Sure I'd get the overcharge refunded, but I wouldn't waste my time going to a smack blog about it. So, in this case, I might dash off a quick note to SO, but then again, I probably wouldn't.

Anonymous said...

And so Charlize Creations is out of OS and onto somewhere new. Any guesses? I'd say Pixels & Co.

Anonymous said...

Looks like SO listened to the annoyance.

Greetings,
You are receiving this email because you purchased the November Scrap Pack at Scrap Stacks. As some of you may have noticed, one of the kits in the November Pack was recently posted as a freebie. The posting of the kit as a freebie was a mistake, and the team at Scrap Orchard would like to extend an apology and offer each of you the SO February Mega Kit to correct the error.

From Scrap Orchard:

You may have recently noticed the Storyteller Kit by the Scrap Orchard Designers, previously sold in the November Scrap Pack, is being used in a promotion at another site. Unfortunately when Scrap Orchard decided to donate this kit for that promotion, they overlooked how it would affect ScrapStack's customers and for that they are deeply sorry. The Designers & Staff at Scrap Orchard support ScrapStacks and think it is important that everyone feel confident when purchasing the monthly Scrap Packs that they are receiving the best possible price for the products. In an effort to correct their mistake, Scrap Orchard would like to give you the February 2013 Mega for free (releasing on January 24).

Receive the Scrap Orchard February 2013 Mega for free
CODE: SST_FEB_FREE
Expires: 2/28/2013

Please accept Scrap Orchard’s sincerest apologies and thank you for your support of Scrap Stacks.

When using the coupon code at Scrap Orchard, please include your Scrap Stacks invoice number or your purchase ID number in the notes section at check-out. Your invoice number may be found on your email receipt and the ID number is listed on your account page. If you need assistance finding either of these, please send me an email at admin@scrapstacks.com. Thank you to the team at Scrap Orchard for stepping up and offering this gift to all of you.

We hope you will continue to support Scrap Stacks. Look for some exciting changes to the site soon!

Lots of designers/stores give away freebies on fb/newsletters/blogs and THEN sell the items. It's unusual for a store to sell something and less than a month later give it away completely free (even if it's done via other sites). So I can see why people are upset.
It seems silly on SO's part to think that scrappers wouldn't notice and be annoyed that they recycled a kit. I bought the Scrap Pack and when I read Persnickety's email, I thought to myself "SO is dumb and Scrap Stacks must be annoyed. And SS needs to make their contract a bit stronger." But I'm not mad. It's annoying that I spent money (I bought the pack mostly for SO's kit, thinking it wouldn't be available free less than a month later) and knowing that if SO released the Scrap Pack mega at a later date, it wouldn't be less than $5 (mega kits are $10). I figured that I was getting a good deal by buying the Scrap Pack. I would NOT have bought it if I'd known that the kit was going to be a freebie via PP, which I love (I've had the best experiences with them, and I don't blame them for this). It makes SO look lazy and SS needs to figure out their contract, apparently. And PP should probably do the same ("please provide a kit that has not previously been available for sale or download at any other site").

Anonymous said...

41 - I hope not. I actually like most of the designers going to P&Co. Charlize would be a big step DOWN.

Anonymous said...

That's for sure!

Anonymous said...

Whoever posted the code here needs a junkpunch. It's obvious from the email that it was only intended for those who had purchased the strapstacks bundle.

Anonymous said...

40 said "#38 Sure I'd get the overcharge refunded, but I wouldn't waste my time going to a smack blog about it. So, in this case, I might dash off a quick note to SO, but then again, I probably wouldn't. "
---
Umm, but you are on a smack blog talking about it. Maybe not complaining, but you're still here, reading and posting what you think. So you're still contributing.

Anonymous said...

46 - Yeah, I was all excited thinking I could snag the Feb Collab without having bought the SS, but then I read this passage, "When using the coupon code at Scrap Orchard, please include your Scrap Stacks invoice number or your purchase ID number in the notes section at check-out. Your invoice number may be found on your email receipt and the ID number is listed on your account page."

If Charlize goes to P&Co, it will bring the whole store down.

Anonymous said...

Does the term "Happy Scrapping" have any significance? I once blogged for a designer and she insisted it had to be at the bottom of every post, and now I see it all over the place.

Anonymous said...

---

But would we boycott the store? Doubtful.

Anonymous said...

Perhaps, if there were 5 other comparable grocery stores in town.

Anonymous said...

#50, how exactly is it different?

I'm not the OP, but $1.66 is $1.66 and if someone took it from me (in any form or another), I'd be pissed, too. I think SO sucks, so I don't shop there anyway, but if I did, I would think twice before shopping there again. Not saying I would boycott, but I'd really have to love something to buy it. There are tons of other places to shop.

Anonymous said...

If someone took $1.66 from me I'd move on with my life. Just saying.

Anonymous said...

I don't think anyone is saying their lives are over because of this situation. Everything we deal with every day can be trivialized away to nothing.

Anonymous said...

Complaining on this blog and emailing a later to SS didn't take any longer than if I had a price adjustment in a store. I would have done the same in either case. And if someone doesn't like the dicussion, then offer something better to talk about.

My post didn't say I would boycott SO either. I just expressed my disappointment. I wouldn't boycott over this issue. I agree it isn't worth it for the $ amount. But that doesn't mean that I won't express my disappointment to them either. And if someone wants to boycott over this small issue, I'm guessing they had other reasons and this pushed them over the edge. Either way, it's their choice how to spend their money.

Anonymous said...

That's letter, not later. Damn autocorrect.

Anonymous said...

#38 OMG! I bought a sirloin tip roast for $4.99/lb 2 weeks ago, and now they have a BOGO on the same roast at the same price. Guess I should boycott that grocery store? Except this week I got center cut pork chops BOGO. So I think THAT is a better analogy than your frigging $1.66 overcharge dumbass.

Anonymous said...

Our psycho (#58) is back! I hope she takes heart meds because she sure needs them.

#58, your analogy isn't a good one. No one is complaining about it being on sale after they bought it, they're complaining about it being given away for free after they paid for it.

Big difference and one that has been pointed out repeatedly.

Anonymous said...

And many stores offer price adjustments if the price changes after amount of time. (not food, but comparing digi to food sales might be off base.) I have bought digital books that were later offered as a freebie for 1 day and Amazon doesn't really give a hoot if I'm ticked. So, maybe both sides are right on this issue? What matters is that enough people complained that both SS and SO felt like they needed to "make it right" and did the best they could to keep their customers happy.

Anonymous said...

#58- You must be from SO.

Anonymous said...

#61, you're a moron!

Anonymous said...

Exactly, #60. At the end of the day, they realized they made a mistake and made it right, contrary to those who swore Kami wouldn't care about customer complaints.

Anonymous said...

Next time you go into the grocery store and they over charge you $1.66, I'll bet you'd be up at the customer service counter wanting your cash back.
-------

Nope I wouldn't, so you lost your bet. Sure, if it happened a second time but not the first.

Anonymous said...

---------

Exactly. I've bought iPad/iPhone apps and in some cases, the very next week they were offered for free. Luck of the draw.

I'm glad SO made it right, but it seems like a bit of bias here because it was SO. If it were another store or designer, most everyone here would rake them over the coals.

I've seen lesser offenses made by lesser known designers with far more smack than has happened with this.

Anonymous said...

66, I agree. I felt that way when mscraps copied SO's advent calendar. They weren't willing to rake mscraps over the coal and kept defending what they had done. But if the tables were turned, you can bet that SO would be tarred and feathered.

Anonymous said...

66 said "I'm glad SO made it right, but it seems like a bit of bias here because it was SO. If it were another store or designer, most everyone here would rake them over the coals. "
----
I think SO was raked over the coals here. And it seems that people should be MORE pissed at SO than if it happened at a lesser-known store because more people know about/shop at SO. People have said they won't shop there anymore, so it seems to me they've been raked over the coals. I would love to see irate people post on SO's fb page (knowing it'll be deleted) and on their forum and see how SO responds.

And 67, please stop bringing up the mscraps/so Advent calendar thing. "Advent" means "arrival." Do you think you could wait until the arrival of next December before bringing up the damn calendar again? Maybe next year there will be even more stores "copying" an idea that has been around for ages and you can be even more pissed. Just sit on it for a year, please.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for proving my point, 68.

This. If this wasn't raking over the coals, I don't know what would be. And I've never seen another store go so far out of their way to fix a mistake as SO has.

Amen to that!

Nope. The reason MScaps weren't raked over the coals was because it was a complete non issue. It was a digital advent calendar. It's not like they were copying a kit and selling it.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for proving my point, 68.

---------

What point?

Anonymous said...

Trust me, 73. If it was SO stealing Mcraps ideas everyone here would be stomping their fit and throwing a fit. It would NOT be a non-issue even though you may think you are above that now.

I even noticed that they tried to place blame on SO because they copied paper on that Advent calendar. Then MScraps shouldn't have copied them because that was wrong. So much for your halo, MScraps.

Anonymous said...

Exactly, but don't count on the idiots here to comprehend that.

Which idiots? The ones not understanding that a lot of stores get smacked and not just SO, the ones that don't seem to remember when MScraps got smacked and plenty, the ones who can't seem to grasp that the advent calendar is and was a non issue? Those idiots? The ones who also failed to see that a bunch of posters said that SO did nothing wrong, stupid maybe, but not wrong. Are those the idiots you are talking about?

Anonymous said...

the advent calendar is and was a non issue

---

That's only your opinion. It's not a fact.

Anonymous said...

Well, I guess if you think other stores aren't getting smacked as much as others, it's YOUR prerogative to find something to smack them about... after all, anyone is free to start smacking here. So get the heck over it already!

Anonymous said...

We have been smacking mscraps and will continue to do so.Hopefully next year they'll offer something original.

Anonymous said...

Hey 85, read post 66. We are answering her question as to whether or not SO gets smacked more than others. I say it does and when they are up against another store, everyone will defend the store that isn't SO or one of SO's designers. Another example is the Bella Zingaro store that tried to name themselves Bella Gypsy. That was another "non-issue" apparently.

Anonymous said...

66, they won't. they'll just copy SO again and then we'll get to rehash the supposed non-issue that the mscrap groupies keep calling it.

98, yes, I have. Most of the time it is just people hating on Kami and when asked for proof that she is a b*tch, nobody ever comes through.

Anonymous said...

Why would people hate on her for no reason? Oh that's right, we must all be jealous! Not. I know she's a bitch from my interactions with her.

Anonymous said...

How exactly was she bitchy toward you?

Anonymous said...

Good luck getting an answer to that, 102. She's always called a bitch but never any specifics. But yet they say it isn't jealousy but won't give any other reason or proof.

Anonymous said...

I would imagine specifics would reveal the person's identity - at least to the other party. I wouldn't want to reveal such things. I can't imagine someone calling another person a bitch unless they have reason to, unless that person is #99 and a troll. It seems she just likes to call everyone a dumbass, not one person in particular.

I've had plenty of experience with Kami and can tell you she's nice for awhile, but she goes to bitch pretty quickly. If she's nice to you, great, but that doesn't mean she's nice to everyone. Not saying she has to be, but I don't think it's far fetched to think she's pissed a few people off.

Anonymous said...

Kami has been nothing but professional and very nice to me and I've worked with her quite a bit this past year.

Anonymous said...

Yes Gennifer. We know you and Kami sit around and braid each others hair and giggle and have nice chats.

That doesn't mean she's nice to everyone.
::eyeroll::

Anonymous said...

It's an international anonymous conspiracy to make people believe she's a bitch when she's not. I'm sure that's it.

Anonymous said...

No, it's just that people are hateful. People don't need a reason to hate. They just do because they are cynical and judgemental. They can pull a tone out of one little email or forum post that isn't really there.

Anonymous said...

I've smacked SO and don't know boo about Kami or anyone there personally.

It's unprofessional and shallow to donate a kit to raise funds for one site - that you know people/YOUR fans will likely buy. And then immediately turn RIGHT around to donate it elsewhere. If I was PP or SS I'd be pissed. If I'd paid for the kit I'd be pissed that I spent $ on something that was portrayed (much like TDF) as a special deal on a full price kit.
I don't think SO is all that. I don't love the designers. I'm a paper-style scrapper but I'll be honest - I didn't shop those designers while they were still at TDC, so I didn't follow them to SO

Anonymous said...

So how has she been mean to you, 106?

107 It's an international anonymous conspiracy to make people believe she's a bitch when she's not. I'm sure that's it.

So hello Kami or Kami's BFF. SMH
Who gives a flying duck if she's a bitch?! The only smacking I've seen here is about ACTIONS not personality.

And if she's this fine upstanding kind person I'm sure she's also a big enough person to let what anonymous people say behind her back go. And so should you.

Anonymous said...

111, I'm pretty sure 107 was being sarcastic.

Anonymous said...

What ACTIONS, 111? Other than the new SS, SO, PP fiasco. She's been smacked for being a bitch long before that happened but it is all personality and no proof.

Anonymous said...

I think #104 pretty much summed up why you'll never see proof - because their identity would then be known. Kinda makes posting anon a little silly, doesn't it?

That said, I think most of us are nicer to some people than others. Granted, we don't own stores...

Anonymous said...

put-up or shut-up.

Anonymous said...

lol @ 115. This is a smack blog, not a term paper when you need to site your sources. It's gossip, trash talk, opinions, etc. Proof is not required for those things.

Proof is subjective anyway and pointless here.

Someone just needs to cool her hard-on for Kami.

Anonymous said...

Seriously. Providing proof for someone being a bitch? Good grief. Now, if someone was accusing her of theft or something else illegal, I could see it. It's still a smack blog, though. Not People's Court.

Because I'm raaaaaaacist. Not because I'm using a common saying or anything. (sarcasm for those who can't read anything but words.)

Anonymous said...

"Only white trash takes pride in being a bitch."

That's a common saying now? Sarcastic or not, Wow. You are special.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Yes, as common as bitch.

Anonymous said...

calling people "bitch" is ok but "white trash" isn't?

Makes total sense.

Anonymous said...

There's been proof of Kami being a bitch but people didn't want to accept it. There was plenty of proof of her attitude when she owned Digi Scrap Addicts, but again, some people didn't want to accept it.

There's no point in asking for proof if you are just going to turn a blind eye to it.

Some of you got into the grog early for NYE.

As to the MS v SO who gets smacked more, who cares these no score board here. Or maybe there should be so we can rank the most smacked. We could give out the Golden Kettle award every year to the winning store.

Sometimes I wonder if the more SO gets smacked the more business it brings them.

There's been proof of Kami being a bitch but people didn't want to accept it. There was plenty of proof of her attitude when she owned Digi Scrap Addicts, but again, some people didn't want to accept it.

What happened? (or give me something to reference so I don't have to read 3 years with of blog) Maybe we don't accept it because we don't know about it. I didn't enter the scene until DSA was under new ownership. I didn't know she was even an owner at one time.

#133 - I can't remember because I had no interest in SO or DSA. I do remember that her attitude in the forums when she owned DSA was not at all professional, which is one of the reasons I never went to SO or DSA.
