Thank goodness, it was getting a little too kumbaya in there.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of kumbaya, who made the SugarBabe team gets revealed this weekend.

Anonymous said...

Have they said how many are coming on?

Anonymous said...

Oh law, we still can't escape the SugarBabe conversation. Even though WE tried a good diversion. ;)

Anonymous said...

#4- Someone is bound to say something once the new Babes are named anyway.

Anonymous said...

Gennifer, I'd like to officially request that you add DHD to the list.

Anonymous said...

Wow! I've been away for a couple days and look at all these...
Gennifer, I don't know you, but you rock! I've never liked your shop (not my taste) but sure I'll buy from you soon.

DigiSmacker said...

4, I did my best!

6, Done.

Anonymous said...

#7 I'm always intrigued by what styles people prefer.

So {everyone} if you're a consumer, what style floats your boat, and if you're a designer, what style do you design in?

I consider my style to be shabby + paper scraping style.

Anonymous said...

Wow I just took a good look at the store list, I had no idea there were so many out there! I've shopped at maybe 10 of them.

Anonymous said...

I would love my style to be more Lilypad-ish, free-form, colorful, stuff all over. But my paper scrap background holds me back and I end up at.. I'm gonna say it, SSD.

Anonymous said...

I would love my style to be more Oscrapish, but I can't make it work.

Anonymous said...

#12 oh yeah, for me there is nothing harder than perfect simplicity. I'm always in awe of those who can do it well.

Anonymous said...

11, you sound just like me! I'm not ashamed though, being a Babe is my dream CT.

Anonymous said...

I'd say I'm mostly Oscrap-ish. I like clean and simple but I like to challenge myself so at one stage I was on 4 CTs of designers with completely different styles. It was so much fun and I think I learned and grew a lot pushing myself that way. Try if you have time.

Anonymous said...

I am a paperish scrapper so I would say TDC, SO or SSD best represent my styles...although I wish I could be more TLP

Anonymous said...

Dear DigiSmacker,
The store list on the right side is long. Way too long, I feel. Wouldn't it be better if we get rid of the abbreviations of private stores and individual designers? And maybe put a mark (like an X or something) next to the stores that don't exist anymore? (It might be useful to keep the names for the sake of reference, but let people know right off that they're already gone so no need to spend time searching for them.) It might take a while to sort it out this way but I think it will be worth it in the long run. I can check it for you later when I have more time.

Anonymous said...

One Story Down (OSD) and After 5 (A5D) are missing from the list, too. Even excluding all of the designers personal stores, the list is still quite big. I haven't heard of at least half of them, and I've been around digiscrap for almost 7 years now.

I guess my style leans more towards paper scrapping, but I also love to add some more artistic touches with brushes and such. I tend to only post to the non-store galleries though so I don't have to worry about the "rules" and can use any combination of products in my layouts.

Anonymous said...

With Love Studio, Berry Sweet Scraps, Scrap Take Out are missing also.

Anonymous said...

Can we just put up the ones people actually talk about?

Anonymous said...

I posted a somewhat revised list yesterday maybe? Its hard to remember with all the outing and price talk. Maybe someone else can pare it down a little more?

Anonymous said...

20-If you'll remember, in the not so distant past, Berry Sweet Scraps, and With Love Studio were the very topic of conversation. I believe that Scrap Take Out was talked about also.

Anonymous said...

when was the last time we talked about DigiApe Designs though...I think there are a few we could get rid of for now

Anonymous said...

LOL DigiApe?

DigiSmacker said...

I've updated the ones you mentioned.

This is the revised list that 21 posted yesterday. If someone wants to revise it further, I'll update it.

AlyD said...

So le me get this straight, I post here and everyone thinks all my stores should drop me but gennifer posts here and everyone says she rocks. Lol. You all are a funny group of people!

AlyD said...

Gennifer, nothing against you because you rock for posting under your name. (hopefully others will follow suit and stop being anonymous vaginas) .

But do the designers in your store know you are digismacker....

It makes me wonder how many of these anonymous posts are you...

Anonymous said...

Aly, as far as we know, Gennifer only created a smack blog, whereas you deleted collabs, pirated, lied and cheated. See the difference?

AlyD said...

Well at least there's proof that she made the blog......
Where's the proof of what in was accused of....oh...there is none...because it never happened lol.

But doesn't make sense going back and forth. You all know everything with your psychic powers. No proof needed!

AlyD said...

I've been gone for a few days, idk what I missed but can we get back to the Aly smacking???

DigiSmacker said...

Yes, I sent an email to everyone at my store, designers and CT, as well as to my personal CT and guest CT last night.

No one knew before that.

I'm not posting anonymously, but feel free to wonder.

AlyD said...

Have u posted anonymously before? Before u had to out yourself? I'm sure u didn't just read because "digismacker" did post too much.

AlyD said...

And all I'll do is wonder. And not accuse....with no proof. Like the other anonymous vaginas of this blog. (I hate using the p word...you know which word I mean)

Arielle H Gordon said...

All the designers and decorators at DHD know Gen own this. Just clarifying. Also using my real name. ;)

AlyD said...

Yay! Another one! And none of you care? Funny how that works. I guess all it takes is someone to start a bullshit rumor with no proof for everything to change.

Are you going to keep the blog?

DigiSmacker said...

I did post anonymously before, because it was easier than going back and forth between logins. That's obviously not an issue any more.

I'm sure I've posted more in the last day than I have in the entire time I've had the blog, though. I usually confine my responses to one. ;)

AlyD said...

Did u you get offended when I said I don't like gennifer spelled with a g? Hahahha do u remember that?

DigiSmacker said...

Aly, I've said that I'm not sure yet if I'll keep it.

I'm trying to keep any questions/smacking about me in the other post, so that those who are not interested in reading it don't have to. Respectfully, I would appreciate it if you would do that as well. :)

AlyD said...

Can I get my own post?

Anonymous said...

LOL anonymous vaginas. Sorry that was funny.

Arielle H Gordon said...

LOL - wow this is hilarious! I've never even visited here before today, can't believe all that I was missing!

And yes, Gen ROCKS for providing an open, uncensored forum for discussion. People should be able to police themselves.

If I have to choose between censored material that is "nice" and vanilla and not really beneficial and uncensored that may be hurtful, yet is more valuable in the larger scheme of things, I will choose the latter every time. I can skim over the crap.

Anonymous said...

People should be allowed to post here with their real names without backlash. People here may give Aly shit but at least she posts here under her name.

AlyD said...

41 I agree. I like it here. The only thing I have a problem with is the accusations with no proof. And then there are the gullible people who look for the worst in everyone that believes it and repeats it.

AlyD said...

42 - thank you! Even though they say I post anonymous to taLk to myself.

AlyD said...

I think we should start a movement. Everyone should post under their name so the scrutiny for posting here can go away.

The only reason I can see ppl not posting under their names because they ARE vaginas and feel power when they can hide behind anonymity.

Sooooo.....
Michelle Batton....where r u? And your "proof"
Jaime of dsdi....where r u?
Snips and snails designs?????
Shilo...u don't even sell anymore... Why r u hiding? So u don't have to explain how u stole?
Lauren Reid..I know your here too...

AlyD said...

Come out come out where ever u are? Are r u still scared?

Jen c designs....I know u read here too...so u can stop hiding...
Trish...mama Trish...hangs out at sweatshoppe...mod at just mommies. I know you're here too....

AlyD said...

None of them will come out because they feel big and be when they can hide.:)

DigiSmacker said...

Aly, it would be foolish for a lot of people to post under their real names. There ARE people who would judge them, and they could be kicked out of stores, be blackballed from stores, etc.

I don't think any less of anyone who posts anonymously. And (frankly) I'm not more impressed by you because you post under your name, and no one should be more impressed by me just because I posted mine.

Anonymous said...

People should be able to police themselves.

If I have to choose between censored material that is "nice" and vanilla and not really beneficial and uncensored that may be hurtful, yet is more valuable in the larger scheme of things, I will choose the latter every time. I can skim over the crap.
-----------

I love you! :)

AlyD said...

Do you realize how stupid that sounds though? If they think posting here will hurt them, why do it in the first place? Anonymous or not...

It's misleading and hypocritical in a way...

I'm a strong believer in if they can't say it to your face, don't say it at all....

Anonymous said...

People here may give Aly shit but at least she posts here under her name.
-------

So? It doesn't make her a hero or better for posting under her own name.

AlyD said...

51 it does though.... You anonymous vaginas will never admit it though.

Anonymous said...

Aly, I don't know if the accusations against you are true or false and frankly, I don't care. However, I do know that you crave attention.

You just keep posting and posting and posting and about absolutely nothing, or repeating the same thing over and over again.

For instance

* Everyone is gullible
* There's no proof of what I did
* People are cowards for posting anon
* I don't care what people think about me (and yet, you keep denying the allegations ... why bother if you don't care)
* I'm bored so I come here to read

AlyD said...

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I'm going to ignore what is said about me. Like u said, I crave attention....so obviously I'm going to reply.....whether care or not.

I crave attention. If anyone has a problem with that, then you must deal with it on your own.

Anonymous said...

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I'm going to ignore what is said about me.
--------

But that means you do care. See, when I don't care, I do ignore it. Simple really.

Anonymous said...

AlyD said... 39

Can I get my own post?

------

No, you are not interesting enough

Arielle H Gordon said...

Well, I see people posting here "anon" so they can say what they are feeling at the moment without backlash. And there would be backlash somewhere down the line. Sorry if some abuse that. There's always those that want to shoot the messenger.

And who ever goes around telling people they don't know, that they have toilet paper sticking out of their pants or something green in their teeth (aka - your kits suck, your shop stinks)? I think I'd rather hear that from a stranger than someone I know. Less embarrassing for all.

AlyD said...

55 I don't care. I just like to keep the topic on me.... Like now.....
But ifnu say I care.....okay!

Anonymous said...

Megan turnidge is going back to scrap orchard

Anonymous said...

Well Gennifer if you can get away with posting on this blog, why can't everyone else?

DigiSmacker said...

Well, everyone is welcome to, of course. I just don't have to worry about being kicked out of my shop, or not getting into another shop (because I'm not ever going to another shop). It's easy to post under your own name when you've got nothing to lose. :)

AlyD said...

It shouldn't be that way, you shouldn't have to lose anything by posting here. Silly way to "run things" but people need to feel in control some how

AlyD said...

Anyway, I'm sick. I think im catching the flu. I'm going to bed. :(

Anonymous said...

Wonder what other shop owners will have to say about all this. Like Robin. She is a mama bear with her community.

Anonymous said...

Actually, it might be good for Aly to get her own post. Then we could all ignore her easier and she wouldn't be writing on the more interesting posts.

Anonymous said...

65- If you don't like what she says, don't read it. That's what everyone else is told when they read something they don't like.

Anonymous said...

2ps is missing from the list as well

Anonymous said...

66-I tried that, but she spammed the list with dozens of silly posts so it's a little hard. Believe me, I'm trying.

Anonymous said...

68- I didn't mean to sound snappy. I just saw all her posts.

Anonymous said...

Best Free Tutorials? To scrap, not design.... any specific sites, designers, cts, blogs?

Anonymous said...

In all fairness - digi smacker is only posting under her real name, so to speak, because she got 'outed'. I'm not surprised as there are probably 10 different ways to find out the real name of anon posters, I"m just not technologically savy enough to even list them.

Having said that, I was impressed by your letter yesterday Gen. Not only was it well written it was a bit courageous. Yes, courage after the fact, but nevertheless you stood and said your piece - regardless. Good for you.

I just hope that now people will leave the personal smacking where it belongs - in middle school. Maybe we can all act like adults. Even you Aly.

Anonymous said...

I want to know who is outing all the people coming to SO? They haven't announced it yet. Why steal their thunder! Someone posted about someone a few weeks ago and now megan

Anonymous said...

It's a well known fact that Kami from SO posts here. She's prolly the one that posted about Megan going back to SO.

Anonymous said...

How do you know she posts... it's not like your watching her type or anything... curious, not trying to be snarky.

DigiSmacker said...

71, I agree with you completely. It's hardly courageous when you don't have much of a choice.

Anonymous said...

there is nothing harder than perfect simplicity. I'm always in awe of those who can do it well.

yes, I totally agree. :)

Anonymous said...

Why do you think she didn't have a choice? She's part owner of the store. So if they did "out" her what would she have to lose? Nothing. She didn't need to out herself at all. I think it is courageous. Far more courageous than our anonymous posts commenting on whether or not it was.

Anonymous said...

It definitely wasn't Kami who named someone the other week. (It wasn't me either but I have a good reason for thinking it was a certain person)

DigiSmacker said...

I honestly didn't feel like there was much of a choice. I could either come out and say it first, or wait, and have someone else say it later. I am pretty darn sure that eventually, "We" would have told someone, who told someone else, who told someone else.

I chose how I was revealed, but the revealing would have happened either way.

Anonymous said...

I post anonymously because:

1 - I'm in a store, and I don't want to draw attention to the store in a way that the store owners/members might not appreciate. If someone doesn't like my opinions my store could end up on someones 'do not shop.'

2 - I'm currently actually a little afraid of Ally. I saw what she did on Baby Gaga (posted that other person's information and saying she didn't give a shit that she put children at risk) and I think she's mentally un-hinged and also smart enough to cause some damage if she decides she wants to.

3 - I haven't had time to continue to grow as a designer lately and I don't feel like opening myself up to that kid of criticism. I've got lots of personal stuff happening and I don't feel very strong.

Anonymous said...

well she could have been a chicken shit and just shut down the blog and hoped for the best...

Anonymous said...

Been reading and lurking for a while, and I have a question about criticism of designers and quality of their work. When you say that someone's kits "suck," what is it you're talking about? I'm not a designer, I'm not a CT anymore, just a customer. So if you're saying that someone's kits suck because you don't like their color palettes or their style, that's a matter of taste and personal preference. I can live with that and I can decide for myself. If you're saying that someone's work sucks on technical issues like stray pixels, jagged edges, blurry images, poorly drawn doodles/graphics, etc. that's really helpful for me to know so I don't go dropping my hard earned money on garbage. So, on what basis do you all say that someone's work sucks?

Anonymous said...

If I was to use the word "suck" I would probably mean that I didn't like their style. Not a quality issue.

Anonymous said...

I usually take "suck" "gross" & "yuck" to mean color palette or overall appeal (style) of the kit. I have noticed that when it's a quality issue most people will say it's a quality issue. They'll say what it is too like jagged edges etc.
They'll also say if they just don't like you as a person. If they think you are a drama queen, a backstabber, a general bitch, etc.

Anonymous said...

Can I ask a question? I'm looking for a new designer/store to stalk, but I cannot find a designer who designs the products I need. (it almost makes me want to design again myself, but I can't find the time!).

So, I'm looking for: solid papers, patterned papers with small patterns (stripes, dots, graphic), colors not too bold and for both boys and girls. I don't scrap in English, so wordbits are rarely used. I always use some kind of paint splat or stamp or something. Little elements to add, not too themed.
Anyone you can recommend?

Anonymous said...

#85 Have a look at some of the designers at Zig Zag Scrap.

Anonymous said...

So le me get this straight, I post here and everyone thinks all my stores should drop me but gennifer posts here and everyone says she rocks. Lol. You all are a funny group of people!

------------------------------------------

Aly, the difference is you are nuts and annoying, Gennifer is not.

Gennifer - Please do give Aly her own thread, it will (hopefully) be easier to ignore her. Worth a try perhaps?

Anonymous said...

Do you really believe that Aly would stick to her own post?? Come on, she's looking for attention, she's not going to stay in her "room" and leave us alone.

PLEASE just ignore her, don't mention her name again, don't answer her posts. That's the ONLY way she will go away.

Anonymous said...

I really don't care for Megan (it's pronounced Meeeegan)'s designs. They look a bit fake to me.

Back to the babes....that thread at SSD has gotten annoying but I can't help but think that Kimberly is one and that's why she's asking how many, etc. She's trying to deflect.

Anonymous said...

Tara is one.

Anonymous said...

Really? Are you sure #90? Because I just got a bit sick to my stomach. I guess the answer to how to get ahead is the stick your nose so far up the designers asses that you get what you want.

Oh well

Anonymous said...

Well of course Nikki. She is one of the girls I don't think deserve it. She's a flake.

Anonymous said...

See, I'd much rather see Nikki than Tara.

AlyD said...

Question....why do u all care so much about who the babes are???? Jealousy?

Anonymous said...

#85 - That sounds like One Little Bird & Paislee Press style, have you checked them out? Or Anita Designs at Mscraps? Those three seem to fit what you want :)

Anonymous said...

So I'm curious what you all think about OSD's block party event. Second month now. Thoughts?

Anonymous said...

LOL Aly. Um no. I just want to see people who deserve it, get the spots. Not people who just kiss alot of ass to get it.

#93- I agree!

Anonymous said...

#96- It must be doing good or they would get rid of it!

Anonymous said...

#95 I did get some of Anita Designs, but didn't think the quality was that great... OLB kits are nice, but too themed for me. PP I'll check out!

#86 I checked the designers at ZZS, but the first page of products by every designer didn't have anything I'd buy. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Anonymous said...

I looked at the block party and then just walked away. The products are too expensive for what they are and the challenges are eh.

I don't agree that it is doing well which is why they've kept it. It's only the second month. Most stores try new things for at least a few months before decided it doesn't work for them. It could be doing well, but I'm thinking it's not based upon product pricing and participation in the forum.

Anonymous said...

#99 - Maybe Sugar Kissed Designs at Gingerscraps?

Anonymous said...

#85, I think you and I might have the same style of scrapping. I agree with #95's suggestion. I think you'll like Three Paper Peonies and Fei-Fei at Oscraps too.

Anonymous said...

Looks like Scrapflower is delayed by a week.

Anonymous said...

I love 3PP!

Anonymous said...

So le me get this straight, I post here and everyone thinks all my stores should drop me but gennifer posts here and everyone says she rocks. Lol. You all are a funny group of people!

Aly, because you are an annoying little C U Next Tuesday. Gennifer is just plain awesome. (And her designs are 10 billion times better than yours)

Anonymous said...

Gennifer is just plain awesome. (And her designs are 10 billion times better than yours)
_______

Although still not worth 7.99, apparently ;)

Anonymous said...

No, they are NOT worth 7.99... because they are priceless.

Anonymous said...

They are worth 5.99 at the most!

Anonymous said...

So, one ten billionth of 5.99. Good to have price points figured out!

Anonymous said...

What would be the worth of Aly's designs then?

Anonymous said...

They're free remember?

Anonymous said...

I thought I would share some information that came to me in an email from a company "My Vinyl Designer" that I buy vinyl designs from. I'm not a designer of anything, just a customer. Some of their designs had to be removed on account of an attorney contacting them that the following phrases have a copyright:
1.Every once in a while in the middle of an ordinary life, Love gives us a fairytale.
2.Let go of the struggle.
3.I have always known it was you.
4.Feel the Fear and do it anyway.
I did google & found that #4 is the name of a book.
I have no idea about the other ones. I did google & those phrases are everywhere.
I'm simply posting the information in case any designers want to look into it further in case you sell any of those phrases as word art.

Anonymous said...

Wow thats crazy! I can see the name of the book one being pulled but the others. No way.

Anonymous said...

I think 1 is from a movie... Hitch, maybe? But it was way after that quote was popular.

The verbiage seems so vague, and easily changed, that I can't imagine anyone having a leg to stand on.

Anonymous said...

http://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64532

Wow this is the second thread in a few weeks time like this.

How does Robin put up with it?

Anonymous said...

Yari's head is stuck up her own ass. Robin should've known this.

AlyD said...

111 exactly!

AlyD said...

105 who cares? Lol. I'm not striving to be the best designer in digiland. I do it for fun.

Anonymous said...

Book Titles cannot be copyrighted.

Anonymous said...

#119 again, you also cannot copyright a short phrase/common words. Think you can trademark slogans etc but it's a different thing.

I assume it's the same in the states as it is in my country.

Anonymous said...

Book Titles cannot be copyrighted.
-----

True, but they may be protected under unfair competition law and trademark law.

Anonymous said...

The concern with Yari should not only be she's not responding, but why are customers emailing her? Quality issues??

Anonymous said...

I agree #122. I also find it interesting that she has been so busy and stressed she can't answer customers, but yet she has time to enter a contest at Jessica Sprague.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone listen to the Paperclipping Roundtable? I know it's not digi- but I like some of the things they discuss, but lately the co-host has been super annoying.

Anonymous said...

Scrapflower is getting off to a bad start - a week late opening and they are offering a gift certificate draw for people who sign up for their newsletter this week...but nothing for their dear loyal customers who have already signed up.

Anonymous said...

Doesn't every new shop have giveaways to start off? As to the delay - maybe they are just making sure everything is running properly. Must everyone always see the negative?

Anonymous said...

New Babes...
Brook
Kim
Lizzy
Nikki
Tronesia

Anonymous said...

Brook - Sucks
Kim - Like
Lizzy - Like
Nikki - OK
Tronesia - WTF?! Where the hell did she come from?!

Anonymous said...

128-I've seen some amazing layouts from Tronesia. I've been on CT's with her before. She really very nice.

Anonymous said...

#129- Tronesia gets on store teams then leaves them after a while.

Anonymous said...

As to the delay - maybe they are just making sure everything is running properly. Must everyone always see the negative?

----

Then they should have taken that into consideration before announcing an opening date. It's not complicated.

Anonymous said...

I totally agree that Tronesia is SUPER talented. It is just a surprise since I don't think she is as active at SSD as the others.

Anonymous said...

Who is Brook? Never heard of her.

Anonymous said...

#132- Her pages don't look that much different than most of the SSD scrappers. I think she got picked because she wasn't an active member. People expected certain scrappers to become Babes so SSD tossed in a non active member. I'm not saying it's a bad choice either.

Anonymous said...

129-Most CT members do move around a bit. There isn't anything wrong with that.

Anonymous said...

I will be so glad when all the stupid babe hype dies down.

It baffles me that people give a rat's ass about the SSD "community"

Anonymous said...

Gennifer, just wanted to let you know that I stopped by DHD and bought a few things-from you and some other designers.

I hope that the idiots who tried to blackmail you read this :)

Anonymous said...

QOTD - Is scrapping with a random photo you've found online ok or just plain creepy?

Anonymous said...

#138 - not really creepy (unless it's like, lovey dovey or something) but why would you? o.O

Anonymous said...

QOTD - Is scrapping with a random photo you've found online ok or just plain creepy?

______________________

not so much creepy as possibly against someone's copyright. do we really have to have discussion?

Anonymous said...

I think it's kind of creepy. Especially if it's someone else's kids! If I have a CT kit that I don't have pics for, I just pass that week.

Anonymous said...

Actually Brook is VERY active at SSD. She's been kissing ass and getting her ass kissed for some time.

I don't care for her scrapping but she's a decent person.

I have to say, I'm so thankful that Kimberly Morris and Tara didn't make it.

I'm thrilled for Kim and Tronesia.

Anonymous said...

#142- I'm also happy Kimberly Morris and Tara didn't make it. Kim's pages are ugly at best. Tara is an ass kisser. Her pages aren't worthy of a Babe spot. Someone from SSD was reading here and listened to us. Not about Nikki but that's ok.

Anonymous said...

its funny how someone(s) bringing up the scrapflower issue. If they opened and it didn't work well they would get talked bad about. But because they delayed a week to make sure it does they get talked bad about. I don't think they can win and I have no connection at all with scrapflower

Anonymous said...

143 I don't know who Tara is since I don't go to ssd, but I happen to enjoy Kimberly Morris pages. I think they are pretty in fact.

Anonymous said...

I used to be very active at SSD, but haven't really been in more than a year. I still get the newsletter, but haven't spent money there in a very long time. It's gotten to the point where I look at the kits in the newsletter and they are all starting to look the same. Use a different color palette, change up a couple of elements, slap on a new title, and call it a new kit. Maybe it's just me...

Anonymous said...

Not just you #146, I feel the same way. I used to buy Darcy's fonts nce in a while but I have found so many others similar for free. I really like Kimberly Geswein and Brittney Murphy fonts-all free for PU.

Anonymous said...

147 - I love Kimberly Geswein's fonts. Haven't heard of Brittney Murphy, so I'll have to check those out.

Anonymous said...

143 I seriously doubt anything said here mattered when they made their choices.

Anonymous said...

I hope Paula walks away from SSD forever.

Anonymous said...

Kimberly Geswein? Is she the one who went to live in China a few years ago?

Anonymous said...

It's not just you 146, SSD's wares have seemed like that to me for well over 5 years. I don't ever go there unless I read some smack interesting enough to send me over for a quick peek.

Which Paula are ya'll talking about? The one in NV who has been around forever?

Anonymous said...

152 - yes

Anonymous said...

damn. They're even worse than I thought. If all it was about was kissing ass, Paula should have been a sugar babe a long time ago. Obviously, they have cliques even among the suck-ups.
Why does she keep subjecting herself to their bullshit?

Anonymous said...

Is Paula upset she didn't make it again?

Anonymous said...

155, I don't know.

Has she ever been a sugar babe?

--

Of course they can win. If they had set the date in the first place a week later, they would have opened on time. Besides, only two or three person talked about Scrapflower. You are connected, don't deny it.

I used to buy Darcy's fonts nce in a while but I have found so many others similar for free. I really like Kimberly Geswein
------

That's because Kimberly taught and mentored Darcy about fonts. Kimberly used to be one of the very few font makers in the early days of digi scrapping.

Anonymous said...

Kimberly Geswein? Is she the one who went to live in China a few years ago?
-----

Yes. She has a blog where she has her fonts for download and they can also be found on DaFont

Anonymous said...

Heritage Scrap is missing from the list too.

Anonymous said...

I think I remember Kimberly Geswein from way back in the early days of DST.

Anonymous said...

Never heard of Scrapflower, but from the sound of it, I'm not missing much.

Anonymous said...

Isn't Scrapflower the new name of Catscrap?

Anonymous said...

Yep, Scrapflower is the former CatScrap.

Does any paper company besides echo park put out their papers digitally?

Anonymous said...

Basic Grey were selling at SBG, TDC and a couple of other places. Don't know if they still do. Their digi side was complete crap compared to their real paper line.

Anonymous said...

Thanks 166. I remember checking out BG's offerings when they first started selling at SBG and they were beyond awful.

I saw Echo Park had some of their paper designs available as digital files and was hoping that more out there were doing it.

Jessica Sprague's site offers digital lines from Jenni Bowlin, KI Memories, Echo Park, Cosmo Cricket, Glitz Studios, and Pink Paislee.

Gennifer said...

A lot of MME's lines come from digital lines at DHD.

Anonymous said...

Hey, what happened to Jenn Allyson's store at DHD? Is she not coming back?

Gennifer said...

Jen's expecting a baby in a few months, so she's taking a year or two off. She'll be back. :)

Anonymous said...

Thanks Gennifer. I wondered if that was it, but will miss her stuff being gone for that long.

Brook - Sucks: She's lifted almost every page from this pp scrapper. If you don't follow pp you would never know! Poor Pammy not even an oz of credit:http://www.scrapbook.com/galleries/14619/list/0/40/1.html
Kim - Like
Lizzy - Like
Nikki - OK
Tronesia - WTF?! Where the hell did she come from?! I think they needed some diversity since the majority are well you know! They needed to throw her into the mix. She seems to be more into her photography than scrapping as she's left some teams recently. She's ok bc her photo's look good :/

Anonymous said...

I see the sugar babes and ssd CTs the same as the stuff in the shoppe. Same old recycled stuff over and over. And over. It all looks the same.

Anonymous said...

Photos on CT pages are very important. They draw people in. I'm not saying that scrappers with everyday/average photos don't have a chance against scrappers who are good photographers themselves, but photos do play an important role. If I have to choose between those who are equally good as scrappers, I'd choose one with better photographs (or, more to the point, one who can manipulate their photographs better), too. And Tronesia is a really good scrapper to begin with. No, I don't even know her. Just used to seeing her pages from another store.

Dang, where did Kellie Mize go? I can't find her at DigiChick?

Anonymous said...

From her FB page: "I am taking the big but probably not surprising step of retiring from designing. Perhaps one day I'll find my mojo again but right now I just want to fully enjoy the busy but fun state of life we are in. So I am, of course, having a retirement sale. My whole store is 50% off until I close on May 15th. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!"

Anonymous said...

Thanks 178. I don't bother with FB pages-too many places to try and chase someone down just lose me.

Anonymous said...

I hate following designers on facebook. There are so many and they all just get lost in the noise. It's a shame most designers neglect their blogs and newsletters and just do everything on facebook. They loose a lot of customers. Facebook is one of many tools, not the ONLY tool.

Anonymous said...

180- Facebook changed their "rules" for fan pages. It makes it so much harder to stay up to date with them now.

Anonymous said...

I think any designer using FB is wasting their time. I am not going to chase you down on FB to give you my $. It's a pain in the ass and I only use FB to keep up with people I know IRL.

Keep up with your blog or storefront. Or even post in your store's forum. Otherwise, you're losing customers.

Anonymous said...

Well people connect in many ways. That is why you have to use them all to attract the customers...forums, facebook, twitter, blog, newsletter. Now I tend to post more on FB because I have more than double the followers there but you have to keep up with them all.

Anonymous said...

Here's the thing about FB though. Someone may follow you to get a free kit, but unless they're glued to their FB page constantly, they're not very likely to see much else that you post.
I've got nothing against designers who use fb as ONE way to reach out, but when they're all lazy and the only way they reach out to customers is with an occasional hit or miss fb post, they've lost me. I don't have time to stay glued to fb.

Anonymous said...

Plus, I think FB, twitter, newsletter, blog, yadda yadda is a bit overkill unless you're going to keep up with ALL of them.

If you're not going to put in equal time and effort to all, then pick one or two and do them well.

Anonymous said...

As a designer I send out updates to my blog, newsletter, facebook, and twitter. I don't see it as doing any one of them well while neglecting the others - I see it as catering to the different ways people like to receive their information. I'm not trying to reach one customer through all channels - I'm trying to reach all customers through whichever channels they prefer individually. Did that make sense, LOL? Not very succinct, but maybe I got my point across...

Anonymous said...

186, I'm 185 and it sounds like what I probably didn't say well. You're using all media when you do updates.

The ones I have an issue with are the ones who get lazy and just pick and choose when and where they're going to post or say something to customers.

I don't spend like I used to on scrapping supplies. I try to keep up witht the designers I like, but if it requires me running around in circles trying to keep up with them, then I'm off to find other stuff I like. There's just too much out there to choose from to require me to work to give you my money.

By you, I mean the general you, btw.

"A lot of MME's lines come from digital lines at DHD."

Now it makes sense, that's probably why I like a lot of stuff at DHD, because I usually like MME's paper releases. Lightbulb moment :)

I thought I was in the minority about not liking Facebook, so it's actually nice to see others have similar feelings. I don't even like using it for family & friends.

Maybe it's just me, but it always seems like such a mess of junk everywhere. No matter how many times I press delete on the games (don't show me games anymore), they still pop up from people. aaarghh.

Anyways, that's just a long way of saying that I don't plan to use facebook to view digi designers stuff, don't plan to sign up for digi designers there, or 'like' them or whatever it's called. I hope the designers continue to post to their blog, & don't rely solely on Facebook.

I think the above poster made a very good point:
"I see it as catering to the different ways people like to receive their information. I'm not trying to reach one customer through all channels - I'm trying to reach all customers through whichever channels they prefer individually."

-------------------------------
You are not alone!

I don't like it much at all, but so many of my far-away extended family use it, that's it's basically a necessary evil for me.

It is so cluttered with junk that I spend as little time there as possible. No way am I going to be bothered chasing digi designers around.

Anonymous said...

Also, wrt to facebook the constant and frequent format and privacy and other changes just put me off. Long story short, it's a pain in my ass.

Anonymous said...

I do wish there was one central hub for getting scrapping info.

I had high hopes for DST when it started, but it has been a joke for a long time now.

Anonymous said...

192- I would say try MSA but not a huge amount of designers post new stuff there.

Anonymous said...

Thanks 192. I tried MSA when it was new, and found it lacking. That whole group of designers that opened it up weren't the ones I was interested in, and it seemed like they only let certain friends of theirs in.

It seems like every time someone tries to come up with a hub type of site, it all gets lost in the games and back stabbing and cliques, etc.

That's why I just don't buy as much any more. Tired of all that.

Anonymous said...

194- Gina sold it so maybe it's different now.

Anonymous said...

Anyone know whats up with DST? I cant access it tonight.

--------------------------

It really isn't that hard to keep up with all of them, it is simply a matter of setting them all up smartly. My blog feeds to twitter and facebook and that leaves very little work for those two. My newsletter is a little extra work but it is only once a month.

I have all my bases covered to cover all the preferred mediums of my customers.

Hootsuite also makes it very easy to update facebook and twitter. I schedule posts sometimes weeks in advance.
