Well, that is kinda making an assumption that they don't have copyright laws in Brazil. She probably does know about copyright laws but just assumes that because it is an American company they won't come after her. Or just thinks that it is ok to screw a big American company.

------------

I'm not saying it's right but at least she's only charging $2 for that crap. There are others out there who tread a very fine line and charge a lot more.

Anonymous said...

How are the sept. Digifile, please.

Anonymous said...

The DST blog hop is live. The only thing I found worth downloading is AK Designs template.

Im new so don't jump all over me but where is the dst blog hop posted?

DST's blog.

Scrap stacks is looking good this month IMO

Anonymous said...

Uh! Good is not what i would use :/

Anonymous said...

What is the top theard store grp for U?

Anonymous said...

^ In English, please.

Anonymous said...

except for Veronica Spriggs kit, M&M, and ValC Designs, I'll probably use the rest of the digi files this month.

Anonymous said...

I like Penny's and Litabells. Surprised I didn't like Shawna's, I usually love her stuff.

Anonymous said...

I don't think I would use any of them.

Agreed.

Agreed. I've been happy with ss every mo.

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't use/download ANY of the kits in the Scrap Stacks pack. Side note, why are they previewed like that? You can barely see the papers.

Anonymous said...

Ellie Lash is designing kits again? Where does she sell? I had no idea.

So people like you can not only bitch about the kits offered but in the way they're presented too! Bingo! Double whammy for you!

Good, because I wasn't trying to be. Hate it when people think I'm joking around when I'm not.

Not being funny is not the same as not joking around.

Anonymous said...

LOL 27. Yes!

Anonymous said...

Not clever, either. In case that was what you were going for.

Anonymous said...

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I was wondering what Digital Scrap Forum do you most frequent? It seems that DST has gone downhill.

Anonymous said...

facebook, 30

Anonymous said...

#30 - seems? DST has been going downhill for three or four years. I don't hang around any forums, they all seem to be much of a muchness.

Thoughts?

O.K. guys so I don't have really good news today :( I'm so sad :( It's all about the new kit. So here is the long version because I'm not going to shorten it. When I had this kit in mind to do I went on the hunt for some Commercial Use Ann's and Andy's to put in the kit. I came across some really cute ones by Kristi W. and I picked them up thinking that if there are Commercial Use Templates available for sale I must be able to make the kit and it isn't like Disney were you can't make anything that even remotely resembles a Mickey right? I figured she had probably done her homework and found that you were able to sell the kit if she was able to sell the templates. After all the templates have been up for sale for months. NOPE!!! Which reminds me I had better shoot Kristi an email and let her know she might run into trouble for selling her templates :( So to finish up my sad sad story I can't sell the kit it's coming down. I am however going to give it 24 more hours for all of you guys that may have put off purchasing it. It will have to come down out of the store, booo hoooo booo hoooo I'm so sad because this is one of my favorite kits, you should come by and pick it up while it is still up. Remember 24 hours only when it's gone it is gone. Gotta go get a new box of tissue :( Oh yeah be sure to pick up page 7 of your Happy Camper Brag Book before you go sniff sniff sniff.

LOL well I found out this kit violates copyright, but I'm going to sell it for another 24 hours so hurry up and buy it before I get caught.

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure she has to take those down. Maybe just change the name? Anyway - cute kit.

Anonymous said...

She's practically giving it away - anyway. $1.50
for the kit.

This is a full 12x12 300 dpi kit. The kit includes 443 Elements, 49 Papers and 3 Alphas.

Anonymous said...

"much of a muchness"

you're an idiot

Anonymous said...

@ 38
I have this kit. It's filled with "fillers", such as:
160+ flowers
40+ frames
125+ ribbons and stitches
30+ buttons
30+ doodles
Her kits are always the same, in different colors. The only "unique" elements in this kit are 3 Andies and 3 Anns (2 full bodies, 1 face).

Anonymous said...

#40 - Well that makes sense. I wondered how she could put so many out in such a short time.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

I don't think anyone would go back to SO. Dealing with Kami once is enough.

Anonymous said...

33-This isn't the first time she's done things like this. I can't believe she's still "designing."

Anonymous said...

I don't know who she is but she sounds a right tool

Anonymous said...

have you seen the unbelievably fugly palette they used this month for the build a kit at sts? all sorts of gorgeous palettes to choose from and that's what they went with? and worse--meagan's creations and quirky twerp came out with kits using the same scheme. blech.

Anonymous said...

^^^ Just checked the palette out. I don't find it unbelievably fugly. Not pretty, maybe, but not as bad as some of the DST blog train palettes.

Anonymous said...

You want to see unbelievably fugly? Check out the Studio's "designer" contest.

http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/g1598-ndc-week-1.html

Seriously. Do people really scrap with any of this stuff?? Is there anything worth downloading at all?? And they keep saying "great kits." Do they really mean it? It scares me a little.

Anonymous said...

Wow 53, it does not take much to scare you.

Anonymous said...

I truly miss Simon and Pears. These two ladies where critical and honest. They did not smack just to put their competitors down.
Most of everyone here smacks because they have a beef with someone or feel that they are better then everyone else. I'm sure if any of your kits where mention here, someone would be saying how God awful your shit is.

Anonymous said...

AnnaBV is back designing and didn't go back to Scrap Orchard. She's opening at PBP.

----------------

I love her designs and based on her new shop, her designs are as cute as they ever were. I wonder if she'll have a CT call. I'd love to apply.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

What's up with the ninja one? The rest are all travel themed.

Anonymous said...

47 YAY!!! I Love her! Now I just need Faith True to come back

Anonymous said...

#59
I thought the same thing. If you click on the comments, in her description she says she was inspired by traveling Asian roads and hopes the ninja theme is not stretching it. Cartoon ninjas??? Asian roads??? I think it is so far out of the ballpark she should be disqualified.

Anonymous said...

I think it is so far out of the ballpark she should be disqualified.
__
Agree AND it's not even done well, imo.

Anonymous said...

LOL that's a stretch

Anonymous said...

Did a Ninja attack her during her travels? Otherwise, I ain't buying it.

Anonymous said...

I downloaded the kit by Cuddlebeez so I could have a closer look at the red truck. My dh drives a red truck & I thought it was cute.

Anonymous said...

If a ninja had attacked her during her travels (1) she would have never seen it and (2) she would not have returned home!

Anonymous said...

Well the ninja one was the only one I liked. I'll probably use the ninjas on a Halloween layout since my boys were both ninjas last year (saves me the time from having to make one myself, or spending 8 bucks for a kit just to get the ninjas). The rest of the entries suck imo. Some are meh, but some are really bad.

Anonymous said...

At first glance I thought the ninja were scuba divers and fitted with the travel theme. Obviously I need glasses.

Dead seal????

https://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13_408_455&products_id=14400&zenid=b2087cfa036493d44aee146304276593

Anonymous said...

I think the seal is just rolled over sunning itself, but the way it is placed in the preview it sorta does look dead.

Anonymous said...

just saw it in the layouts. Yea, it really does look dead!

Anonymous said...

OMG I almost died laughing when I looked at that link for the dead seal and saw the layout that's #15 in the additional images. The one of the old couple on vacation with their purple outfits and leis around their necks.... with a dead seal at their feet. Who scraps with that kit??? Better question, who is willing to CT for that designer in order to scrap with that kit?

Anonymous said...

https://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/store/images/bld_beachcomber_pagekit_15.jpg

hey maw, Look we got our first seal, time to celebrate here pita pita pita

Anonymous said...

I hope that seal is really just sleeping and not dead. Is it that hard to find a good pic of a seal to extract that's royalty free? Surely she did't pay for that pic!

Why did the CT even use the seal? Well, all but two or three did. The old couple do look like they are celebrating a seal kill. The game fishing guy looks like he is saying "I caught this fish but it wasn't enough to save the seal!" And that third layout it's just stuck in a weird place.

Anonymous said...

Scrapable is closing September 30th.

Anonymous said...

Is the word 'Cinderella' copyrighted? And can you can copyright a word - even Disney? The story was first written by Charles Perrault in 1697 about Cinderella. So how can a word be copyrighted?

Anonymous said...

hey 76 here lmgtfy.com *eyeroll*

Anonymous said...

Is the word 'Cinderella' copyrighted?
--------

Why do you want to know?

A word can be trademarked but only in specific circumstances. Some of you need to learn the difference between copyright and trademarks.

Anonymous said...

seal aside I love that kit. Bummer it's not rolled over the other way, you know, not dead looking lol, then it would be a really good kit.

Anonymous said...

The kit is fine except for the poor seal. It's a collab kit. I'm sure each designer is going to say the other one did the seal ;-) The main preview has been changed since yesterday. One of the designers does actually have a CT call out now.

Anonymous said...

The kit is mediocre, to say the least. Plus I've bought a kit from BooLand a couple of years back, and everything was blurry. Just like her photo on the sidebar!

Anonymous said...

Scrapable is closing September 30th.

It still has the dead seal in it, so I don't see why they bothered to change it.

Scrapable may be closing but Bev is opening a new CU store. This will be her third digiscrap store. It should tell her something if the first two failed. Just give it up already Bev. Your work sucks.

Anonymous said...

Just give it up already Bev. Your work sucks.

--------
Just because she's closing her store doesn't mean her work sucks. Maybe she's just not cut out to be a store owner. Plus, I don't think it's her that is opening the CU store.

Anonymous said...

Sugary Fancy is leaving SO (announced on her FB page).

Anonymous said...

Wonder where she's going? She's been complaining about how busy her life has been.

Anonymous said...

--------
No different that what Miss Tina did. She close the digital kit store and kept the CU part of the store.

Anonymous said...

Except that Miss Tiina's PU store didn't fail. It was still doing well when she decided to focus on CU only because it was more profitable.

From Britt-ish Facebook Page:
" am so sorry to announce that I will not be on the Capturing Magic podcast anymore. Steph has decided to move to a new format for the show that does not include a permanent co-host. I'm so sad about this and will miss Capturing Magic greatly. It was a very magical ride while it lasted.".....interesting.....?

Anonymous said...

Sad. I think co-hosts add depth beyond the single host acting as a talking head or just one host talking to a guest.

where will she sell?
I don't understand why they don't tell it in the "leaving" announcement. I understand they can't tell it on the store forum, but in their newsletter they surely can tell "OK - I'm leaving XX store and you'll find me @ YY store".
no?
I wonder also about Just Jaimee..where is she now?

Anonymous said...

92: Has Britt-ish has joined Steph's blacklist? Maybe Steph just wants to hear herself talk more, since she thinks she's the queen bee of the digital world.

95: People think it builds excitement.

Anonymous said...

I think Just Jaimee is only selling at her personal site right now: http://justjaimee.com/shop/

Anonymous said...

Jaimee has been on vacation, and announced she has "something big" happening. Only selling from her personal store right now...but I'm also wondering where she will land. Personally, I'm thinking the Lilypad.

Should you/we care? I don't know.

___

This doesn't surprise me at all. I completely agree with 96 that Steph thinks she is God's gift to digiscrap. She also has one of the most annoying voices in the world, so if she were smart she would let Britt host the show and she, herself, would simply drop in as a guest now and then with one of those voice-canceling boxes attached to her mic.

103 your "as far as you know" post inferred that you thought the OP was incorrect or didn't know what she was talking about. It was argumentative, and I wasn't even involved in it. Don't act holier than thou when we're all on a smack blog.....

Has anyone else noticed that this month is the slowest smack blog month in history so far? Has everyone given the blog up?

Anonymous said...

112 my thoughts exactly!! Is it because there is no train/hop etc. to smack? Everything is just peachy keen in the digital scrapbooking world this month?

Anonymous said...

I hate the new Shabby Miss Jenn store. I loved her old store. Why fix something that isn't broken? Now it's just a boring, regular store like most others. Before it was unique.

Anonymous said...

Stuff to Scrap is closing its doors Oct. 1.
-----------------------
Not surprised. I used to sell there and it was difficult to get in touch with the owner plus she was frequently late in paying us. I feel for some of the designers there because they are talented. Hopefully they'll go on to bigger and better stores.

Anonymous said...

Stuff to Scrap is closing ... about 3 years later than it should have.

Anonymous said...

112, it's back-to-school time in the US. I'm sure lots of moms (and the really rare dad) who read here are busy doing all the shit they can't do with the kids are home. Like nap, laundry, run to the store, make out with the pool boy. Digismack is probably low on the To Do list.

But I've got something to smack: Why hasn't Lauren Grier updated her personal shop this month? I hate when designers have personal stores but they don't "take care" of them.

Anonymous said...

I think part of the problem at STS was that they took on anyone and everyone who "designed." Those folks pumped out crap left and right making it harder to find the good stuff there. And there was some good stuff. Not much, but some.

Anonymous said...

did you ever notice that where ever Charly ends up - the place closes?

Anonymous said...

Who are some of the good designers at STS? I want to pick up some good deals before it closes.

Anonymous said...

119 -- it always happens, whether she's being herself or her "twin". You'd think that store owners would catch on and say no to her at this point.

120 -- try Hat of Bunny, Piccolina Designs & Ponytail Designs. Some things from Scraps by Andrea as well.

Anonymous said...

That Girl Designs is retiring.

Anonymous said...

I do feel sorry for the designers selling at STS. The good ones mentioned by 121 (and I agree with the list) have just been taken on a few months ago at the designer darling contest, I believe. Charly, too, but I think she has another store lined up for her.

Anonymous said...

I agree with the list 121 posted and would add Shel Belle Scraps to the list too, especially some of her more recent stuff.

Anonymous said...

123 -- Charly didn't win anything, they offered pretty much EVERYONE a spot, which goes along with what 118 said. They just wanted a bunch of stuff in their store to make it look like they were doing well.

Anonymous said...

How bad are things at ScrapMatters when someone leaves there to go to The Digichick (River Rose)?

Anonymous said...

Isn't that like leaving McDonalds to work at Burger King? Crazy. She also has a typo in her ad. Grand Opeing slipped by everyone?

Isn't "That Girl Designs" Ellie Lash? She has retired a couple of times before, hasn't she?

Anonymous said...

Didn't Ellie Lash own Sunshine Studio? Maybe co-owned? And I remember her retiring at least once before, I wondered how long this time would stick.

Anonymous said...

FFS can we ever stop having semantic arguments on this GD blog??? It's the most annoying thing.

As for Ellie Lash yes I believe she has retired a few times before. But I don't remember her ever retiring from CU, and it appears that she's doing that.

Anonymous said...

It's not nearly as annoying as these posts stating how annoying it is. If you want to moderate, maybe YOU should go elsewhere.

Anonymous said...

Well then I think that every day from now on I'll post how annoying the semantic arguments are. Consider this day one.

Anonymous said...

Ellie Lash was one of the original Sunshine Girls and part owner of the site when it first started, think there were 6 or 8 them. Ellie went to SBG, retired and went to GS--retired her PU store but continued her CU store over at Sugar Hill and of course had her personal store.

Hey ladies..
I'm organizing my digi wishlist and if anyone is interested I just stumbled upon Clipix a few days ago. I was looking forever for a good visual bookmark site. And finally I found what I was looking for. I'm mentioning it because it's kind of new, it hasn't gone viral yet. The good thing is it resembles pinterest a lot, so that's a big plus for me. Finally a place where I can organize all my(thousands)bookmarks and wishlists.

Anonymous said...

why is this any better than pinterest?

You've never joked about killing someone, yourself, your kids? You've never joked about violence like beating someone up or the like? If you say you haven't, I don't believe you, so don't bother. To some, that might be funny on a scrapbook page. People's senses of humor differ. That's what makes the world go 'round.
I'm sure the designer doesn't feel that people committing suicide is funny and that's not what she conveys, to me, in her work.

Before you say, I'm insensitive because I don't know anyone who has taken their own life, just don't. I do and it was tragic.

Just about everything offends someone. That quote about the math book has been circulating in social media for years. My guess is she saw it and didn't fully understand what it meant and used it. Not exactly the best way to do business, but it's no reason to take it so personally.

I can't believe someone on her CT didn't say anything!
__
If the CT doesn't like the design, then they don't have to scrap with that particular piece. The CT has no authority or right to tell a designer what to do. If they consistently don't like what the designer does, they should quit.

Anonymous said...

Did you contact her directly about it... without being holier than thou?
__

Contact her and say what? You think the designer doesn't know what it says? Sometimes CT's need to remember their purpose and it's certainly not to reprimand the designer for any reason. Don't like what the designer does? QUIT!

Well, that's condescending. What is there not to understand? You think the designer is stupid? Your post certainly implies that.

Oh, get off your high horse.

Who's taking anything personally? Just because I don't think it's a good card to include in a digital scrapbooking product - doesn't mean I took it personally. I just think it's dumb.

I think you're dumb, too. Take that personally, why don't you.

Anonymous said...

Sweetie, you need to take your Prozac and remember the world doesn't revolve around you and what you think.

Anonymous said...

Why don't you step away from the computer and give everyone a break from your immaturity and stupid, stupid posts?

In your opinion, what's the most happening form/gallery? What store do you shop the most at?

Anonymous said...

I think The Lilypad has the most active forum. I probably do the most shopping there too, but that's because I like the products, not because of the forum.

Anonymous said...

I do hope that my CT would tell me if they thought something in one of my kits might offend somebody. Or if a seal looked dead instead of sleeping!

Anonymous said...

170 first, don't call people sweetie. Second, even though I am not 169 I don't think her post had anything to do with the world revolving around anything. Follow along, if you are capable: 1. someone said "don't take it personally" 2. 169 stated that it wasn't personal, she just didn't like the card 3. your comment made you look like you can't read.

Anonymous said...

173 I couldn't care less about a site's forum activity b/c I do all of my socializing on FB anyway. I just want a site where I can buy products that I like. I shop at TLP and PCO.

Anonymous said...

^^^ ditto this

Anonymous said...

I am on her CT and I debated saying something about it. I felt like it was in poor taste, but in the end, I just didn't scrap with that word art and moved on. I can be overly sensitive to that kind of stuff and that kind of snarky word art seems to be popular at TLP right now.

Are you on crack?
-----

Aw, you didn't get it, did you?

Anonymous said...

Just because YOU can't imagine using it doesn't mean everyone else feels the same way. Joking about people committing suicide is offensive. Joking about a Math book doing so is not offensive to me.
--------

Yeah, this.

Anonymous said...

Well, good catch! You're an idiot.
------

I think you're the only idiot around here but you probably already know that.

Get what? The crack?

What the fuck people? This is a digi smack blog. It's here so that we can smack things in the digital world. Why does everyone insist on making it a place where we all call each other idiot for NO APPARENT REASON WHATSOEVER????? It makes no sense.

Before you all jump on me for micromanaging the blog and not adding any content myself, here's something for you. Will someone please tell designers (Tracey Monette I am talking to you, among others) that it is NOT OK to keep posting ads in the Digital Scrapbooking Layout group on facebook? We don't want to see your new products here. We don't want to see your CT call results. WRONG VENUE. OMG, it's not difficult to understand the purpose of that group. SMH.

Anonymous said...

Why don't you tell her on Facebook instead of here where she might not see it? Be an adult and tell her up front instead of somewhere you hope she hears about it.

Anonymous said...

Here is why people don't contact designers directly about that stuff - they can be real bitches about it.

I've tried to give a heads up to designers in the past about something or other and it was done very nicely and without any ill will. Some never respond, some respond with curt, annoyed language. I've stopped trying and that's one of the reasons why this blog exists, 184.

If they don't want to hear it in private, then they can hear it in public.

What are your favorite patterns for papers? What are your favorite type of elements? What do you wish designers would do more of? What do you wish there was less of?

Anonymous said...

I am on a couple of CT's and if I see something in a kit that might not be appropriate, I do bring it to the designers attention. I wouldn't have questioned the math book item though. Coming from my family, where my two brothers are engineers, we're always making jokes about math. What a book does (commit suicide) isn't the same as a person doing it. Is that supposed to mean that books have feelings too? What the heck? Making a joke about a book is not making a joke about a person committing suicide. I've lost 2 people in my family from suicide, so no, it's not a laughing matter.

I wish there were less people asking these kind of questions.

FYI, the FB group is more public than this place. Just own it.

On another FB group dedicated to a store, a few people used to come and advertise other stores. I told them to get the heck out and I don't even own the group. Once I said something, others agreed with me and the advertisers got the heck out. Someone has to make the first move. Why not let it be you, if you were the one complaining in the first place.

Do people actually buy kits that have some papers and a bunch of ribbons and buttons and nothing else? I was just looking through one very popular designers store and she has several kits like that. scratching my head....

Unless you own the kits or all elements are listed in the descriptions, how do you know that's all there are? That's really hard to believe.

Exactly. The op doesn't have the balls to post on the FB page.

My, aren't you an asshole? How about that kind of question?

Anonymous said...

My, aren't you an asshole? How about that kind of question?
------------

No, I'm not. This is a smack blog, not a scrapping forum. Nobody cares about favorite patterns for papers, or favorite elements or what designers should do or more less of.

See, now I answered your question; which is more than you did for the OP who asked the other question. If you think it's so wonderful why not reply to her, instead of being a twat.

Anonymous said...

If that's all the OP sees on the previews and there's no description, then the designer is doing herself a disservice, isn't she?

Anonymous said...

And if you design for MyMemories, you're not supposed to list the elements.

Anonymous said...

^^^^

She said a popular designer, so I doubt very much it's anyone at MyMemories.

Anonymous said...

Nobody? How the hell do you know what people care about? Are you the all-knowing mind reader around here? Just because you don't care doesn't mean others don't. You're one of those folks who won't own being an asshole. It's obvious your goal wasn't answering the op's question. You were being a rude twat (to use your word for me) and probably trying to be funny.

Anonymous said...

Well, yeah, however that's not really relevant to anything. The point was that was ALL that was in the kit. My question was how does the op know that.

Anonymous said...

Why don't they want designers to list the elements, do you know?
