I just read the thread posted in DST about closing the blog down. Here's my official statement.
I'm not going anywhere.
I have been talked about here, people I know have been talked about here, and people I don't know have been talked about here.
Unfortunately, we are in a business prevalent with people who should not be doing it. If your quality is bad, it will be talked about. If your manner is unprofessional, you will be talked about. And, sometimes, if you're just plain awesome, you will be talked about. (That's my category, for the record.)

Wasnt Digital Candy the store that went under becuase of the Amanda Dykan drama? I was trying to remember when they were talking about Amanda here last week.
That does sound right or it was a store with a similar type of name.
I remember that some store went under because the person offering classes wasn't holding up her end of the deal (collecting $, not holding the classes or something like that). Not sure if that was Digital Candy or some other site.
I do remember there was some drama surrounding Digital Candy and the owners but that was so long ago that I can't recall the details anymore.
Amanda Dykan was the final nail in the Digital Candy coffin. However, I think it was slowly headed downhill after Heidi sold it.
Digital Candy at one time was a great store, there was drama and it was sold. The new owner was a former ct or admin and some crooked things started happening, I also believe Amanda was tied to the store and\or drama in some way. It was 3 or 4 years ago I believe.
The new owner of DC decided to start designing by liberating some CU items from the store's designers directly off the FTP, if I recall correctly. Also, I believe she was directly involved in helping to create the LilyAnne persona for Amanda.

Thats it...the new owner and her husband started a new site to sort of compete with dst. Amanda Dykan was going to move her bud club there and they were going to offer other classes. Then the shit hit the fan with the Amanda/Lillyann drama and the stolen CU and DC and the new site closed

I just really, really hate it when someone says they are sick of a topic, they must be involved somehow. Maybe they are just sick of the topic.
The topic of the SugarBabes was so gossipy and sugary, it could have been discussed at SSD. I'm not saying smack all the time, but like I asked before, for the store you all love to smack, why are some of you so invested?

Non-sequitur question. Those of you that hate it when a designer doesn't preview all the items in a kit. Is that because you pass up kits you might have bought had you seen all the items? Because I don't really understand any other reason other than you just want to see everything in the package.
I figured if you're willing to shell out the money for the items you see in the preview then anything extra (not seen) would just be a bonus no? Unless you want to see everything that's listed in the description. Guess I just don't understand.

Almost every single time the items not shown are not of quality. The designer sure as heck knows this, or they wouldn't hide the items. Now I'm suspicious if I don't see all the items. Once bitten and all that.

I think the ass kissing happens more in private on designer's CTs. I've seen it, too, on most designer's CTs. There is always a lot of sunshine being pumped up a designer's ass by a lot of people.

It's a catch 22 then? Being active gets you more ct's but gets you hated.
Also the fact that the Babe call is a nomination makes it a popularity contest. It's about who likes you, not about who deserves a spot.

I have seen that on Friday's in the sneak peek thread. I don't see it daily. AND I haven't seen it by all of the people that were getting smacked about it. I'm not going to search out those people's posts.

I thought Aja Abney retired? She retired her personal shop at CS. Now it seems Christine and her are selling under a "collab" design name. I hate when designers do that. If your going to retire. Sometimes as a CT you have to bump threads as part of your ct requirement. What the heck are you supposed to say when you bump a thread for a designer you ct for? Whatever you say, your bump winds up making you look like a rabid ct member... or an ass-kisser. Same thing with enabling in my opinion - I hate both of those things which is why I don't ct anymore.

74-I've actually scrapped with some kits that I wouldn't have bought to begin with. Believe it or not, some of the layouts I did with those kits have turned out to be some of my favorites. When you get into a kit, there is usually a lot more there to work with than the first glance might give you.

Maybe it's a palette that she works well with, maybe she was working on the first kit and kept designing enough for two kits. I know sometimes that happens with other designers. I have been nominated for an award for my "day job" once and the nomination process required that the nominee be informed and agreed to the nomination. At first, I thought it was odd, but then, I changed my mind. In this case, considering it would involve some "work" to be done, it would simply make sense to know if the person is willing or even available for that position. Not every scrapper is interested. Not every good scrapper is even available for CT work. Although, if they are invited in private, they can still decline in private and still be professional about it.

I think its funny that nobody here seems to want the position as a babe, yet there has been so much discussion about it. I don't shop there, have no idea about their current people, or anything about the forum, so just think this is hilarious. I even had to look up what SSD stood for.
I don't think anyone sits around wishing they were a Teen Mom, either, but they still like to watch the show.
I'll agree the "so happy for you" and "thrilled for you" is completely fake. Because anyone that hangs there would love that spot. BUT, in the scrappy world, it might be a dream come true. Before they brought on these recent designers (and lost a few designers) I would have loved to have been a Babe... I would have loved to have been a designer at SSD. It was my dream store. But I have to honestly say, I think things have changed so much there in recent months. I'm not liking the products being put out... things are just different. I'm completely turned off by them.

I wanted it off because our agreement was that we were going to change the site later on when WE (yes me and you) opened the store together (then backed out when I disagreed when you decided that you were gonna run the store as tiffany without letting me know). Then I would redesign one since that particular design is for my portfolio... I asked you before I Asked them and you said" No they won't. They bought the store. That's the store's theme. I knew you would try to convince me to let them have it but I was and am not comfortable with strangers having my site design up (and now refusing to take it down)when it was meant to be temporary. I did everything design for that store.. the name the color scheme, the avis, some of the blinkies and even that messed up splash that idk why still hasnt been fixed lol. You STOLE from me. Plain and simple I did not get anything for doing all that and to top it all off YOU want to sell the store including my hard work? Heres where you messed up.. you sold the site under Tiffany..a person who does not exist. thus the contract is void. Something the new store owners should of known. oh and you KNOW I have proof to all of this and Im the ONLY one who can put all these rumors about you to rest.I have all our ims & emails stored and since i was in school i would have to record my screen as I worked to show my professor. Now the ones I turned in are sound free but the originals have most of our skype calls recorded. I dont ever have to deal with you and youll never hear from me. oh and please take down "tuesday morning" down as a freebie, Its a collab and I did not give you permission to give my part away. Not an mac.(which later on I told you I was surprised with) I now use it to get text books on, cheaper which comes in real handy. You can throw out there that I'm broke all you want lol it doesnt bother me. Yes Im a broke single mom. Its nothing to be ashamed of. At least I'm not. Im working damn hard for my degree doing what I have to do to provide a better life for my son. Being broke is only going to make it better knowing how hard I had to work for what I wanted. Not everyone can live off a trust fund.

What to do about a designer who used CU at Artscow 'as is' against the TOU of the designer they bought it from?
This kit is full of Starlight's CU with no changes made.

This person has been doing this quite a bit with a lot of designers CU. She also sells on Etsy. Artscow won't do anything and an email sent to Starlight went unanswered. This kind of blatant disregard of a designer's TOU is amazing.
Any CU designers here may want to go through her kits to make sure their stuff isn't being used against the terms of their TOU.
