For the record, I have no access to anyone's IP addresses, and no desire to know who's posting on this blog.

Of course I am a participant.

I think Jen is Digi Smacker.........

Anonymous said...

Digi Smacker could be a store owner for all we know.

Anonymous said...

I hope Digi Smacker is my store owner.

Anonymous said...

Y'know, a few smack blogs ago, not everyone posted anon all the time. I'm thinking the new generation of smackers is as nasty as the new generation of designers ;) I rather like DigiSmacker, but I then I admire Jen's courage, too.

DigiSmacker said...

"I hope Digi Smacker is my store owner."

This made me laugh.

Anonymous said...

#4, That is because designer's lay into you if you are associated with a smack blog. I wonder sometimes if that is because they also post on them. LOL.

Anonymous said...

4, I would love to have a blog where people could respectfully talk about the industry, but as long as there are people who just want to smack someone and not be constructive, we have to be anonymous.

And I like Jen and DigiSmacker, too.

Anonymous said...

I have to laugh my ass off at "new generation of designers" being nasty. I am sure some are, but this "smack" blog is not a new concept. So I imagine some "old timers" are just as nasty.

Anonymous said...

I think the smack used to be even meaner, but posting in your own name was actually kind of respected. Oh well. Maybe most readers still feel that way and just the vocal few give a different impression.

Anonymous said...

Ha! I guess the blogtrain isn't even worth smacking today.

Anonymous said...

The blog train is a "train wreck"

I could only find 2 or maybe 3, that I would download. The few that are good are really quite good. The rest are terribad. IMO anyone who used the browns from that palette along with any other colors than the oranges just failed miserably. Those who knew how to selectively remove colors from the palette created some nice things.

Anonymous said...

#11 - which ones are the "few that are good?" In your opinion, of course.

Anonymous said...

I just read the last few comments on the last post and I can believe the paranoia of some people. Do they really think they are that important that anyone cares enough?

Anonymous said...

DigiScrapWarehouse is closing.

Anonymous said...

Probably for the best. I never liked how they mixed PU and CU in their store - it was hard to shop there.

Anonymous said...

14 - WTF!! I just paid for sponsorship. They should not have taken it if they even THOUGHT of closing.

Anonymous said...

Who cares, they raise their prices so they can have sales.

Anonymous said...

Where is Shannon & Jen Yurko's new store?

Anonymous said...

Who cares, they raise their prices so they can have sales.

------------
That was brought up last year, for iDSD and when the owner heard of that possibility, she was very stern about it, and was very clear she did not allow that. If a designer did that, it was definitely not store wide. I was a designer at that time, and I didn't see that happen. So if you want to name one or two designers who did that, fine, but don't put everyone in the same boat.

Hmm ... pay to enter a contest to have design something for an0ther company to make the profit from ... no thanks. Paper companies usually PAY for designs, they don't get them for free.

Reminds me of television commercial contests where they get people to audition for an opportunity to be on a commercial ... when normally companies PAY actors to be on commercials.

Jen Yurko's store has her and Joyful Heart Designs (another Jen) (so far). "JenN{Squared} is the two of them collabbing.

http://scraptakeout.com/gallery/

There was just a "big announcement" somewhere about Jen Y going exclusive somewhere. less than 1 month ago, I'm sure. That didn't last long.

Anonymous said...

#23 - in digi scrap, it's not normal to pay a rego fee, but pretty much everywhere else in the universe it is.

Anonymous said...

#25 You do get paid, I thought it was appropiate as you are getting your foot in the door also.
if they used your designs they should pay what amount ?? is there an industry standard.?

The winner will receive a $1000 cash prize courtesy of Echo Park Paper Co.,
an Epson Picturemate Photo Printer courtesy of JessicaSprague.com,

Anonymous said...

#26 - Joyful Heart is the owner of the now closed Inspiration Lane store where Jen Yurko was co-owner. They've put out collaborations for years.

What I don't understand is, if you ran a store that failed once before, why open another one?

Anonymous said...

#29 - What does Joyful Heart owning a failed store have to do with anything? She doesn't own any part of Jen Yurko's new store. Jen Yurko and someone else own it.

Anonymous said...

#30
Can you read? Jen Yurko was co-owner of said failed store. I wondered the same thing when I saw she was opening a new store.

Anonymous said...

I've designed a few paper lines and got paid a lot more than $1K. Even my first paper line was more than triple that.

Anonymous said...

I want to know who got the $500 prize for 'designing' that oh-so-generic new logo for DST. I was expecting something with a bit more...pizazz.

Anonymous said...

^^^^^^^^^
My thoughts exactly. Where's the "design" in it?

Anonymous said...

jen y went exclusive at one store and then bailed to open her own after already bailing on her own store before? not somewhere I would apply. the design sucks too.

Anonymous said...

#33 Those colors are going to kill my eyes.

Anonymous said...

If you do not have a very wide screen, the top banner is overlapping the logo. This is kind of odd.

Anonymous said...

Probably for the best. I never liked how they mixed PU and CU in their store - it was hard to shop there.

they never mixed PU and CU. Everything was CU. It was also CU if it was Scrap4Hire. I designed there from the get go and never saw any PU.

Anonymous said...

I think the new DST site design is UGLY. Why would they go from what they had to this disaster??? Barf

Anonymous said...

DST's new look - makes me think of puke.

Jen Yurko opening a store - we all know it's not going to last. Scrap TakeOut? Makes me think Crap TakeOut. 14 months is not long enough for everyone to forget about her Inspiration Lane closure, where her designers got three days notice. She will probably only get Crap designers who weren't around to see that go down. Something smells pretty fishy about how she went about going exclusive to one place, while doing this in the background. The Crap TakeOut fan page was started two weeks ago.

Anonymous said...

They had to work with a specific color scheme, right? I like the "oh-so-generic" logo, but I would have preferred another font.

Anonymous said...

The old site was fugly. This is much better... modern, clean, and not digiscrapper circa 2004.

Anonymous said...

The orange on the forums is awful! They should have gone with black, would have been much better IMO.

Anonymous said...

I believe Lyndsay Riches designed the new logo.

Anonymous said...

DST looks much better. It's boring but it's not ugly like the last one!

Why did Inspiration Lane close? I don't know details. but apparently Shannon leaving GS caused all kinds of stuff behind the scenes.

Anonymous said...

I don't mind the simplicity of the design but those colors are horrible.

Anonymous said...

jen knew at least a month before IL closed that it was going to and didn't tell anyone until 3 days before. I doubt shannon stepping down -which happened a month ago- caused any commotion other than a few tearful goodbyes.

so any behind the scenes drama is probably at the hands of jen who has mysteriously disappeared from the gs shop after the big crap takeout opening announcement.

i wonder if she gave gs any warning or just bailed like she did il

Anonymous said...

who is shannon? i know the other "players", but not that name.

Anonymous said...

Shannon was the site manager? or something similiar at GS until this month.

Anonymous said...

Appears that Jen Y has poached from GS. Apparently Maria H is one of her new designers as well. So if that's the type of designers Jen Y is bringing on board, I give it 6 months - max.

Anonymous said...

The DST site re-design isn't too awful. At least it doesn't look like it was created in 1972 like their old design. Why change colors though? Is that typical when a store revamps itself? What was wrong with the old colors?

I know these may seem like silly questions so smack away!

Anonymous said...

Jen Y had just taken on the lead designer position at GS and as such, she became exclusive and had administrative responsibilities at GS. Now here's where it gets sticky, this just all happened in the last 4 weeks and she must have know full well that she was planning on opening her own store yet she took on this position anyway. Something fishy for sure. GS found out the same way everyone else did about the new store, Facebook announcement. Needless to say, there are more than a few people feeling blindsided by all of this.

Anonymous said...

DST was orange and brown before the last blue/green reboot. I don't know if it's typical for stores, but it probably doesn't matter for a forum.

Anonymous said...

Regarding the colors at DST: I'm getting #E69B67 and #EDCA93 - I don't like this color combination - it does look a bit like puke on my screen. On the other hand, I do like the clean, modern lines. But then again, I'm getting tired of the cluttered, flowered look on everything anyway.

Anonymous said...

Did anyone else notice how Nathalie called Jen out on the carpet in the backroom? Shouldn't she have done in a private PM?

Nathalie:

Jenn, as a DST staff member you should choose your wording more carefully. I do get when you get frustrated about zipping problems but it is uncalled for to state you want to kill somebody for such a trivial thing

Jen White:

Sorry Nathalie, I thought my spelling of "wanna" indicated a casual use of the phrase as is common in American English. I do forget that is not many user's first language, I apologize if you didn't understand that!

Nathalie:

This is not about me, Jen. It is about how you appear as a staff member.

Jen White:

I'm sorry Nathalie, you're the first person who has indicated offense by the colloquial use of the phrase. I'll try to remember not to use colloquialisms that might offend someone but frankly I think most people understood it as an expression of frustration. I'm still an independent user of this board and was posting as such. Thanks for the heads up.

Anonymous said...

I think Jen deserved exactly what she got and I don't even have access to the backroom. At DST, Jen is a STAFF MEMBER and every interaction she has is a reflection of herself as a staff member. Just as a designer's interaction is a reflection of them as a designer and a CTM's interaction is a reflection of them as a CTM (and the designer's they CT for).

You might be an individual, but first and foremost, at DST, you're a staff member.

That is absolutely shitty. She definitely knew she was opening a new store since the Scraptakeout.com domain was registered on April 1, 2012. Shannon left Gingerscraps in April as well. How or why Jen Yurko felt the need to take on more admin responsibilities and then open a new store is beyond me.

I'm sure Ginger would have kept her on as a designer, although, I'm not familiar with their contract. But Ginger sold at SUN while she owned Gingerscraps, which is why I think she would be OK with Jen staying on as a designer.

Anonymous said...

May 2, 2012 12:41:00 PM

Marie H left Gingerscraps for Me So Crappy in March. I'd hardly call that poaching. I'd hardly call her a designer.

Anonymous said...

Marie H. has been in just about every darn lower class store there is. She retires, she comes back, she switches shops at the drop of a hat and has had as many as six stores at once. add a pretty shitty attitude to that - and she isn't someone I would touch with a ten foot pole. altho - jen yurko is just as flakey, always has been.

Anonymous said...

59 - You took the words right out of my mouth. I've worked with Marie and she's all drama. "My husband is horrible", "My daughter is special needs", POOOOOR ME!!!!

Anonymous said...

Who is Marie H?

---------

Factoring in the time it would take to come up with a name, I would think it's been in the works for at least two months if not more. If it is true that Jen was an admin at GS (can a GS person confirm?) that means while she was working on opening another store, she had access to designers' numbers. That's not right. I'm not familiar with GS, but looking at both the GS forum and Crap TakeOut one, I think I see evidence of poaching, but that could also be people being loyal to Shannon. Time will tell but the fact that Jen didn't step down as admin when opening another shop, shows she was up to something unscrupulous. If she had an ounce of respect for Ginger and GS, she would of realized the conflict of interest.
Also, her GS shop getting closed within 24 hours of the Crap TakeOut announcement shows it was probably completely unknown to Ginger. Especially since Crap TO isn't supposed to open the store until June.

Anonymous said...

61 - look at 58, that will tell you where she is. Google is good too.

Anonymous said...

It takes 2 months to register a domain name? I think Jen was supposed to start as admin whenever Shannon's time ended, but I don't think she was for more than a few days. I'm not behind the scenes, but I don't see where Jen was doing anything admin wise, and Ginger got two new site managers, who are ALL over the forum, blog posts, ect. Like I said, I'm not really in the know, just nosy. But I'd love to hear Jen's version.

Anonymous said...

I'm a regular at GS and know a few of the designers and ct members there.
Jen was an admin there, after Shannon left.
Ginger was completely unaware.
A quick glance in their forum shows even some exclusive gs designers over there not to mention half of the gs store ct.

Crap TO is a good name for it.

Anonymous said...

#62 As someone that has knowledge about the behind the scenes dealings that went on with JY, I can say that once Shannon stepped down, which was on good terms, JY was promoted to having admin status.

Ginger knew nothing of what happened until it hit Facebook for everyone to see. JY was released of her duties from GS due to a conflict of interest.

TSO joined Facebook on April 16. So JY knew what she was doing was wrong & shady.

Anonymous said...

@64 - I meant that two months from when Crap TO went live the other day, they had to have time to agree on a name and set things up. You don't just partner with someone and decide overnight to open a shop.

I knew the new color palette for DST would be awful, which is why I picked another one and didn't vote for this one.

I do like the simplicity of the design though.

Why the heck can't someone change the damn favicon? It's still the same damn flower from the original design!

Anonymous said...

According to STO gallery your layouts have to have 100% STO products on your layouts. Most galleries don't say that do they? I mean sometimes I might use an alpha from somewhere else or a template or something that coordinates.

Anonymous said...

#70 - some galleries do and some don't. I don't know about most anymore as I hardly post anywhere.

Anonymous said...

I don't think 100% is very normal. I think the norm is that the LOs must include at least some products from the store (maybe a certain % but not 100%). They won't get a lot of LOs that way IMO.

Anonymous said...

---------------------
That's what I was thinking. Like I have seen them say at least 50% or something like that but not 100%. I agree there won't be a whole lot in their gallery at that rate.

Anonymous said...

72 & 73, maybe that's what they are aiming for? I mean it does cost to host pics. Just a thought, I'm not affiliated with them.

Anonymous said...

I don't see why any store owner would want to pay to host images that advertise designers from other stores. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I have no problems with their gallery requirements.

Anonymous said...

I don't think anyone said they shouldn't require some percentage of the LO to be the store's products. But I know that I almost always mix products when I scrap and I shop at more than 1 store, probably 3-4 regularly. I think it's a turn off if I can't post a LO to the gallery because I used a couple elements from a different kit or a template not from that store.

Anonymous said...

#76 ditto. 75% is reasonable to me, the majority is still their products. Just don't allow linking.

Uhhh change of topic. Since the DST redesign, as anyone been getting stupid pop-unders for surveys? A new low...

Anonymous said...

#77 - I was getting them before the site re design.

Anonymous said...

#76 - while I agree with you to some point, I think it's a turn off to see a gallery filled with LOs that feature little or no product from the store.

Anonymous said...

I do find it hard to believe that out of 65 entries (as Jen previously stated was received) that logo was the best one?! Way to go Lyndsay for earning $500 with two minutes of work. I would have liked to see a logo that not only reflects that DST is a forum - but a community of digital scrapbookers. That logo doesn't reflect digital scrapbooking in any way.

Anonymous said...

hear hear #80 exactly my idea! 500 bucks to get a PS shape cut into 3 bucket fill with colors and type your letters in white...I can't believe there wasn't any submission which had more schwung to it. It's not that I hate the look, I hate they gave out 500 bucks for it. For that money they could do a lot more/better

Anonymous said...

All a matter of taste. Maybe they wanted to go with the "clean" look and as such, dismissed 20 entries, then, maybe some didn't follow the palette? All in all, it might have been the best of what was left, after eliminating many for various reasons. Who knows what they were aiming for?

Anonymous said...

I like the logo! I don't love that orangey color on the forums, though.

Anonymous said...

Isn't a good logo design supposed to convey what your business encompasses? Waste of $500. That black bar at the top of the forum is completely out of place, and I'm not liking the gallery thumbnails against the faded orange background. They stood out more against the previous white one IMO. I'd love to see some of the other entries, but we know that's not going to happen.

Anonymous said...

I just saw a kit that Sugary Fancy posted on FB and at first glance I thought it was a Micheline Martin kit. Is it just me or is SF really starting to look like a Micheline Martin wannabe in her designs and the way she makes her previews?

Anonymous said...

#85 - totally agree, and thought the same thing when I downloaded her new freebie (cute Kindle!). I like that style, so personally don't care if she's trying to be like Micheline. I just hope she doesn't start packing her kits with the same CU over and over again like Micheline. I stopped buying from MM after finding the exact same items (not even recolored) in several of her kits. That to me is just lazy and not worth my money.

Anonymous said...

I agree #86. I'm not saying MM is an awesome designer or anything. But SF is just really starting to look similar.

Anonymous said...

#85, I agree with you on the previews. I don't agree as to the elements in the kit. SF makes her own doodles. MM doesn't. It looks like MM has used SF CU doodles in her kits, that is why they may look similar.

Is anyone having problem seeing images/previews at the LilyPad? I can see the extra images but not the main previews on everything. On the landing page, none of the previews are showing for me, just a place-holder that says "no image"

Anonymous said...

Did any of you do the DHD blog hop? One download at the end with the entire kit. I wonder if other stores will start doing it this way?

Anonymous said...

I have found lots of quality issues w/ Pink Trike in the past few months. One set of tags she sells has pixelated jagged edges around the tag holes, and makes it impossible to use them for anything that will be printed. She also sold another set of word art cards and included one as a PXR instead of PNG. Her designs are cute, but she needs someone to QC for her and until that happens I won't be wasting my money on her products anymore.

WTF is up with the Farmer's Market items changing every day at SO this weekend? They've never done that before. That's about as annoying as it gets, they expect me to come to check for new products every day? No thank you.

#96 I just finished it. It was WAY too long to hunt down every challenge and letter.

There's lots of nice stuff in there for only $1. Lots of templates and mostly cutesy stuff. I saw a few things I might like but I'm saving my pennies. They can stick as much stuff in there as they want to - it only benefits the shopper. So why complain about it? I almost never go look at SO so thanks for the heads-up #98. And no, I'm not being sarcastic.

Scrap Orchard has always changed up what is in Frmers Market. I love going trough and seing what I can pick up for $1. I don't shop there often but defintely do when it's FM time.

Anonymous said...

112 - YES! I agree 100%! Even though there are 2 of them, they just aren't there. I am ready to give my notice as well.

Anonymous said...

The annoying part of Farmer's Market items changing each day is that there are 17 damn pages of product to sort through. Having to go back each day and look through all of it is a waste of time. Just put it all in there on one day, and leave it alone all weekend long. What is the benefit of changing it each day? You either make one $12 sale or you make 4 $3 sales while also pissing off the customer. Either way you make $12, so why not avoid pissing off the customer? I agree with 98 on that.

Anonymous said...

DHD did a blog hop last year - wasn't worth the effort, I deleted every item.

I'm guessing #116 is Magical Reality Designs.

Some designers at SO change their Farmer's Market items every day, some don't. Most of them have the same 20 things in the sale the whole weekend.

Anonymous said...

Guessed wrong. Is it because I didn't like the DHD blog hop?

Seriously? Are you that unoriginal? It's either the designer or, wait for it, the designer!

I think some new CU responses need to be released, the old ones are becoming overused and recognizable.

About SO's Farmer's Market - poor decision. They're going to lose a buttload in PayPal fees because people will be doing more transactions.

#121 - I'd explain it to you, but I really haven't got the energy

Anonymous said...

the energy, or the brains

too busy doing magic (realistically) I would assume

Anonymous said...

For those of you who think that Magical Reality has been posting here, as someone who chats with her often, I can tell you that she hasn't.

English is not Katherine's native language. She is from Europe and learned English later in life.

When somebody learns English as a second language, they make grammar and spelling mistakes often. And after spending so much time talking to Katherine, I can categorically tell you, she is not posting here like people are assuming she is.

Please don't assume things just for the sake of smacking someone.

Anyone know what the sale will be at TLP? I only see 30% off now, but that's their normal sale price for BYOC. Thanks!

Anonymous said...

BYOC will not be further discounted.

Anonymous said...

and the NSD sale will be....? I'm wondering, too.

Anonymous said...

The whole store is 30% off.

30% off for NSD? Yeah. I'll pass. Thanks!

Anonymous said...

I don't think I have ever seen their sales go over 30%. Ever.

Anonymous said...

The BYOC is normally 20% off. It's 30% off this weekend. It is further discounted with the Buy More, Save More. If you spend $15, you get 40% off plus the FWP collab. You can get up to 60% off depending on how much you spend. I loaded up and got lots of stuff for the money.

Anonymous said...

I had something in my cart at SO increase in price from $1 to $4.50 before I checked out. I don't want it that badly - deleting!

#136 ....where's the dislike button? That's so not cool

Anonymous said...

They must be changing up the Farmer's Market products.

Anonymous said...

#136, are you implying that they intentionally made the price increase? Sounds more like a glitch to me, you should have opened a ticket instead of taking the same amount of time to come here and bitch about it.

Anonymous said...

#126 If you don't have the energy to explain what you mean, don't bother saying it. In fact, I think what you really mean is "I don't really know what it means so I'll just deflect my own ignorance by telling you that you're not worth the energy".

Rude.

Yes, they intentionally made the price increase. Some designers are changing the items available in the Farmer's Market. And I wasn't bitching - just stating a fact. They took it out of Farmer's Market and I don't want it for that price.

is it true that some shops are raising their prices before iNSD so that when they put their sales on they won't loose that much?

#142, you're making it sound like they're doing it to be sneaky. If it's just a matter of bad timing, why come here to say anything about it? I guess I just don't see the point of posting on a smack blog because you missed a good sale.

Anonymous said...

the DST blogtrain was pretty awful, SHCO has a nice CU blogtrain going, and The Digichick's FB hop is pretty nice.

Anonymous said...

If they do, it is illegal. Most store owners will not tolerate that (like mentioned earlier about DSW). But if you have clear proof of someone doing it, by all mean, report them. But saying "It was $2 three month ago, but it is $4 now" might not be a good proof as one's memory is not infaillible, but if you have dated screenshots, go for it, tell everyone about them.

There is nothing in the advertising I've seen for the Farmer's Market that says anything other than it runs from May 3-6. There is no mention that things will be swapped out and put back to regular price on their store advertising or designer advertising. $1 from May 3-6 means it's on sale for $1 May 3-6.

Not the first time SO has done something shady. Wont be the last time, either.

Anonymous said...

@147, how can you be sure it is not a glitch too? Do you think they are waiting until someone has a product in their cart and they go change the price just before you checkout to "catch you"? Did you ask the store if it was a bad timing, or a glitch or something else? Maybe there is a valid explanation, I don't know (I don't shop there, and don't sell there either). Many people tend to assume the worst in most situations, without checking the facts behind. Maybe a simple email and you could have gotten that product for $1. But you didn't take those 30 seconds to check.

Anonymous said...

No they didn't try to "catch me", but at a store as big as Scrap Orchard and with a sale like this, it's pretty likely that *somebody* has it in their cart when they change the price.

Anonymous said...

In a brick and mortar store, if I get to the checkout and find that the special price listed on the shelf is not the one that appears when scanning it, I simply point it out, they check and usually I get the sale price. As you said, if it is likely that "somebody" has it in their cart, when are they supposed to do any change? Should they close the shop just to make sure? Maybe one product was not supposed to be in that category and they wanted to correct the situation but you happened to want to purchase it right at that time. Why don't you take the time to email the proper persons instead of the readers on this blog?

Something is going on with Catscrap. Creashens hasn't has a new release in a long time and in her newsleter, Mellybird alluded to some changes coming to Catscrap in the near future. Aja Abney is retiring with 60% off. Lynn Marie is retiring. Do you think they are going to close?

Anonymous said...

If you open a ticket about the price change I'm sure they'd give it to you for $1. I've always had good experiences with their cs.

Anonymous said...

Just email the SO designer - see what she says.

Anonymous said...

Aja retiring? THAT'S a shocker!!

Anonymous said...

Little Butterfly Wings also posted a moving sale ad from CatScrap too.

Anonymous said...

Maybe they're going to Scrap Take Out

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know why they haven't had any contests at DSA? My team was waiting for BOTCT but nothing, and I thought maybe she'd do Designer Apprentice again, but I haven't seen anything. I wonder what's up?

Anonymous said...

Scrap Girls...23% NSD sale???? Later. Its one of the biggest sale weekends of the year and that's all they can come up with?

Anonymous said...

#146: If they do, it is illegal.

No, not illegal, just bad business practice.

Anonymous said...

Why would anyone apply to Crap TO?

Anonymous said...

Or people may be restoring some items on an older sale so that they can apply a steeper discount to the items for NSD.

Anonymous said...

Why would anyone apply to any crappy store? Or do the creepy poserdolls, which I can't call scrapping, just I can't call the fantasylook scrapping, it's manipulation.

And the DST blogtrain is getting crappier each time, not going to spend my time browsing to see 1 or 2 things to my liking.

Anonymous said...

How are your sales figures so far?

Anonymous said...

only bought 2 products so far, nothing much which can make me happy, or I'm just picky

Anonymous said...

Designer Digitals has a 15% off sale. How is that for a sale.

Anonymous said...

#162, maybe they don't know the store is crappy to begin with.
And I agree, the DST blog train is hideous.

Anonymous said...

#166 could be the case, or see the name Jen Yurko and think they're going to be in a warm bath, but it will be a cold shower seeing Marie H there already.

Anonymous said...

Why would anyone think Jen Yurko equals a warm bath. Yuk.

Anonymous said...

Not my cuppa tea either

Anonymous said...

DigiScrapAddicts is having a blog train tomorrow. Anyone excited to rip that one apart? ;D

Anonymous said...

Coincidence? Both are CU.

Designer Digitals has always been notoriously stingy with sales.

The new DST redesign is hideous. I don't mind a simple, graphic concept, but I agree with whoever said those colors look like puke. They are awful.

Anonymous said...

I am so sick of lazy designers who don't do what they advertise. I bought something that that was advertised as an NSD special-a package. Designer stated on product page that download links would be emailed within 24 hours. It's been 24 hours and I have no download links.

How fucking hard is it to do what you say you're going to do? If you can't get it done within 24 hours, then DON'T promise to do that.

Stupid ass designer has lost my business for good

Anonymous said...

^ Yes, I think coincidence.

The DSA blogtrain was invite only so I think it will be a lot better than the DST crap.

Anonymous said...

Marie H is a shop killer. You see her in a shop, you KNOW not to apply there, because it's admitting they take anyone.

Anonymous said...

171
Yes it's a coincident. Those types are flowers are a "new" trend. I wouldn't be surprised to see more being sold.

Anonymous said...

WTH are you people puking up?

Anonymous said...

We have a Catscrap designer coming to our store, but she hasn't announced it yet, and it's not one that was mentioned already. Maybe something is up.

Anonymous said...

#173, was it ETC by Danyele?

Anonymous said...

#177-????

Anonymous said...

There are identical flowers in both packs.

Anonymous said...

#173, was it ETC by Danyele?
May 4, 2012 5:47:00 PM

No. Never heard of her.

Anonymous said...

#182, she has a grab bag thing at TDC, where you pick the kits and she would send you the links. That's why I thought it might have been her.

Anonymous said...

They are not identical flowers. They are similar, but not identical

Anonymous said...

Look again.

Anonymous said...

Oh ok, thanks 182

Anonymous said...

I can't stand designers that jump from store to store on a whim and then they post all over the place how excited they are to announce their new opening. Please, you were excited about the previous store as well and look how long that lasted. If they spent as much energy on perfecting their own designs as they did store hopping, they'd have something decent to offer! What kind of message are you sending to your customers? Seems to me Jen Y and Marie H are a perfect match.

Anonymous said...

i agree...they are similar, but surely not the same.
i personally like elly's better....just sayin' :)

Anonymous said...

the energy, or the brains

too busy doing magic (realistically) I would assume
----

Hate to break it to you darling, but Magical Reality is not a native English speaker and therefore wouldn't write like I do. It's therefore abundantly clear that I have the brains, just not the energy.

Anonymous said...

#126 If you don't have the energy to explain what you mean, don't bother saying it. In fact, I think what you really mean is "I don't really know what it means so I'll just deflect my own ignorance by telling you that you're not worth the energy".

-----

Sigh. Just for you sweetie, I'll explain since it's apparent that few of you have any knowledge in the art of sarcasm.

What I meant was that I keep seeing the same responses over and over and over again on here.

For instance:

- it must be the designer,
- it you won't explain, don't say it
- it must be a CTM or the designer, otherwise, why wold they defend (insert name of person being smacked)
- OMG (insert link of product) who would buy that?
- she's so stuck up
- she thinks she's better than everyone else
- she's such a bitch

So, I think someone, somewhere, is actually creating these automated responses, because they really are that repetitive, and that someone needs to make new ones.

As for me being rude and ignorant, whatever floats your boat cupcake.

Anonymous said...

#190 here - pardon any and all typos, but I didn't have the energy (insert the word 'brain' for those of you using the standard CU response list) to triple check what I wrote.

Anonymous said...

#146: If they do, it is illegal.

No, not illegal, just bad business practice.
---

Actually, depending on where you live, it is illegal as it constitutes fraud.

Anonymous said...

#180 - #177 was referring to the fact that some people were saying the new colors at DST were puke. Was it really that hard to work out?

Sheesh <-------- recycled CU response, therefore new as it hasn't appeared in some time, it may be a new trend, who knows.

Anonymous said...

Amanda released her's in March 2012 and she has a few very similar ones dating back to 2010

That Girl released her's in May 2012.

So, what exactly are you trying to say? You need to state things clearly here, or people won't understand.

Anonymous said...

I agree too, the DST blog train this month isn't very attractive. I downloaded a few things to check out, but unfortunately the majority of the submissions linked were very unappealing.

Anonymous said...

If I were in the blogtrain, I'd just make up a palette that's sort of close or add a whole lot of white ala Wishing Well Creations. There is no up side to making a kit with those awful color combinations.

Anonymous said...

They are both different... if you want products that are trendy, then don't act surprised that different designers have similar looking products...

Anonymous said...

I can't believe those flowers are trendy, they look so 2007.

Anonymous said...

^^^
I don't think that the 'That Girl Design' flowers are trendy, but Amanda Rockwell's are nice. Even though they are similar, IMO the differences are night and day.

'That Girl' flowers are very dated...I could see Amanda's being used to make a nice pattern.

That being said, I would never buy either of them—they are super easy flowers to draw on your own.

Just saw a part of the DSA blog train, colors don't suit me at all! I think I'll skip trains from now on.
