#17 I know I get a newsletter every blue moon from them. But with them having no gallery, changing so many things in the forum, losing designers, and having that horrible subscription plan, it doesn't seem like they are on the map much anymore. Maybe I'm wrong?
#18: Same here. I can't remember the last time I got a newsletter from them. I stopped by the store a few weeks ago to see what was new. Everything "new" was the designer's contributions--sold individually--to the monthly mega kit. I can't think they'll be around much longer.
To be fair, a couple of the kits that aren't too bad. Over all it's not on par with what is advertised. My sense is most designers don't want to work with Steph. She is a terrible business person.
"Screw those other stores. My kits were too good for them anyway." Uh, okay Tattered Princess Designs. They didn't close your stores because of failure to communicate or because you didn't meet the terms of your contract. They closed them because you're "too good"...right.
Neither had I. One of my friends on Facebook liked her page and I clicked because I was curious. She posted some long winded rant that ended with what I posted before and now the Facebook page is totally gone. Guess I wasn't the only one who called her out on her crap.
I to, have never heard of her. Tidbit from her blog and she is terrible. (Little known facts: I am an Ordained Minister, Third Degree Wiccan High Priestess, former Opera Singer and Violinist and a former bad girl (ok, so the last one isn't that little known and I can still be a bit of a bad girl...or a good girl with a mischievous and cheeky side lol). )
I've not been active in digital scrapbooking for a few years and everything seems so dead nowadays. No action in the forums. So many stores have closed. So many junky sites. I used to go to DST to get updates but now it seems pretty dead too. Has everyone switched to FB and Pinterest? Are there any vibrant communities left? Please tell!
You haven't been around for years and things change just like they do everywhere. DST has been dead for several years so you have been gone for quite a while if you didn't know that. Actually, forums at TLP, SO and SSD are all fairly busy as are their galleries. Ever since the beginning of the popularity of digital scrapbooking, designers and stores have come and gone. It's just the nature of business. What are the junky sites to which you are referring? If anything, there were more inferior designers and stores years ago. Now there are more quality designers at SBG, TLP, SSD, SO, The Digital Press and the Digi Chick. Even Ginger Scraps and Scraps N Pieces have some promising designers who make kits and templates. Scrap Stacks and Pinterest both have loads of inspirational possibilities. Yeah, I'll take now to then any day.
#39 it's just you. This month is the first one in several where there haven't been newish designers included. I love the way they do both. Last month's selections, IMO, were much worse than this month's. I'd much rather have stuff I can use from tried and true designers. After all, I do wish to scrap with the stuff; that's the ultimate goal for me.
My sense is most designers don't want to work with Steph. She is a terrible business person. --- Well, your "sense" is seemingly off since she has hundreds of designers contribute every year. If she's so terrible, how is it the site still exists? Luck? Magic? She's sinking her own money into a failing endeavor? Enlighten us all, please!
42.............MScraps is closing mid November, but I very much like OScraps and PickleberryPop. I used to quite like the Studio, but their new store is slow and not very user friendly.
I love Creashens and have lots of her stuff. I find her designs original and very versatile. I guess it all depends on what kind of scrapbook pages you like to make and how much imagination you have.
I agree with 47. I like her stuff, but it doesn't work for me now that my daughter isn't little. I can't justify buying a kit when I will only use half of it.
I love Creashens. She does do a lot of the cute illustrations, and those elements often seem to be the focal point of the kit previews, but the kits are still full of general purpose items. And not every kit has the cutesy illustrations. I don't know for sure, but I think everything she does is original, not CU, so that may appeal to the scrappers who tire of the same ol CU elements in kit after kit.
but after a while, don't all her kits look the same? I liked her while my children were small, but her style hasn't changed, and it just is hard to work them in with teenage kids.
Just because they are guesting doesn't mean they're not exclusive. Her guest store will be open for a month and that's it. Other SSD designers have guested, some even at TDP.
There were great sales all over DigiLand. I bought from TDP, TLP, SSD, digichick, SO and Gingerscraps. There were new releases, challenges and freebies all over the place. It was one of the best DSD's ever IMO.
I agree. I think most of the shops and their designers went out of their way this year to provide a diversified selection of kits and templates, most at a great value. I just wish I'd had more time to participate in all the challenges!
I actually ended up getting way more than I did at the FM in May. I bought 12 things this time around. Overall I found the sales for Black Friday even better than the DSD weekend. I overspent quite a bit!
It'll be interesting to see which shops they all end up at. I'll be really disappointed if my favorites end up at SSD, especially Kristin Aagard and Red Ivy. I'm so sick of that place and don't understand why so many people think it's the place to be. I guess it is if you like kits that all look the same. There's no diversity at all. SBG would be another bad choice too. More than a few designers have migrated to SBG and then moved on to another shop or retired altogether. They've lost their appeal too.
You're full of it. The kits at SSD do NOT all look the same, especially since they've gotten several new designers. I buy from there all the time because of the selection. I like a few designers at the Lily Pad and SO but can almost NEVER find anything at either of those places if I'm specifically looking for something. I too like and buy from Kristin Aagard and Red Ivy frequently and I would love for them both to go to SSD.
What, you mean having Bella Gypsy pumping out two kits and add-ons of the look-alike, amateurish crap each week isn't enough to keep SO in business? Shocking (not).
Personally, I doubt it's the designers fault the store is closing. It is probably the owner has different plans for her life than she did when she opened the store. People change. Their interests change. Are you still with the first job you started with? I'm sure the designers will find homes.
You can only be a bitch for just so long before it bites you in the ass. It's no one's fault but Kami's for treating people the way she does. Don't let her forum persona fool you. She doesn't like people as much as she appears and she's loyal to very few people. She's impulsive and makes rash decisions based on emotion, and without facts. I know several people who have dealt with her and you couldn't pay me enough to ever put up with her shit
I have to kind of agree with #75. I think the designers at SSD start to look too much alike and think it would be sad to see Kristin or Red Ivy go there. I love their unique styles and want to see them grow as artists and keep creating kits that I want to scrap with. I don't see that happening at SSD. The newer designers' styles are "conforming" and blending in. I think that's sad. I like the shops that have more diversity in their teams and offer a variety of styles. I think TDP, PBP and TLP have much more interesting designers to choose from.
I agree with #80. They do a ton of collabs at SSD, which is okay in concept, but invariably, it forces them to create content that blends with each other, hence everything looks alike. I'd rather them go to a different shop as well
#79 how do you know Kami isn't choosing to close the store because she's wanting something else in life? You presume a lot.
#81 the collabs at SSD are great drawing cards for me, and apparently others, since they create then frequently. Mostly, unless it's the entire store doing one, the collabs are done by designers who do similar work..such as Studio Basic and Captivated Visions.
#80 if you think those stores have more interesting designers why even look at SSD??
I feel for you #85. If SO is indeed closing, the store's designers and site staff should've been told as soon as the decision was made. It's unprofessional to have them find out some other way.
Site staff should've been told too. Though they don't make products for the store, they work for it creating layouts, hosting challenges, advertising new products, doing social media posts, etc. It's rude to not let your workers know you're closing up shop.
#79 is spot on. I have been a victim of Kami as have so many others, that's regardless of if she wants something else in life or not.
Concerning hoping KA doesn't go to SSD because her style will change is BS. Digilicious has remained true to her cute illustrations, unlike Jady Day that is bipolar bling to be like some of the other girls, and then wants to be cutesy again. I prefer her cutesy. There's no reason if digilicious, liella, and heather stay true to their cute illustrations that KA wouldn't too. Like someone else said, if you think they all look the same, why are you looking? If I don't like to shop at a store, I don't shop there. I don't get on their website to even see what they offer. They just don't exist to me.
I completely agree 88. From what I heard, they downsized the site staff right before all this happened. The ladies who were cut weren't really even warned, just removed from the Facebook group and sent a coupon :|
I think it is a terrible time of year to drop this bomb on the designers- but I guesse now that she was done harvesting from them during Black Friday and the farmers market- she had no more need to pretend. Who cares that they couldn't prepare during the past few sales? Not Kami. Selfish and unprofessional - but not surprising. And her cutting edge gallery and sales techniques must have really drove the shop into the ground for her not to be able to sell it.
I wish they'd announced it earlier. I didn't shop at all Black Friday & Advent because I still have a ton of stuff I haven't used but I would have cleared my wish list there if I'd known. I hope they end with a big bang with their last ever signature farmer's market.
94 I wonder if #70 was a member of the site staff who didn't get notified but had to find out through second or even third hand information? Apparently that's how this all went down so it wouldn't be surprising. That's a shame.
I would LOVE to know where Scrapping with Liz, Kristin Aagard and Red Ivy are all going! I buy from them ALL the time and hope they have all found a new home!
No one has been given a real solid reason as to why they're closing 99. There were plans to change up the store a bit and move to a new cart but those were apparently scrapped and Kami decided she was done instead.
And as far as selling it goes, I'm pretty sure if Kami can't have it, no one can.
the only reason kami wouldnt sell is because she wouldnt benefit from it- so there must not be enuf value- and I heard they were going to do away with the gallery all together- another brilliant idea-
99% sure that she didn't even try to sell it or give it away. If she did, it wasn't offered in the open to the team or anywhere else. If she really cared about her team, she would have at least offered it for sale because I'm sure she would have found a taker and I think that most of the team would have been inclined to stay rather than try to find another store. She swears she cares so much about the team but I agree with 100 - she never entertained the possibility of letting anyone else try to run the store so the team wouldn't have had to move. If she wanted to move on in life, fine, but there were options that would have been better for her team and she didn't even try, just pulled the rug out from under them.
Kami has shown her true colors and now her entire team knows that all the talk of "caring" about her team was just that, Talk! She lead everyone to believe that there would be some "changes" but assured the team the store was safe and would not be closing. Now let's just hope she actually makes the final payment and doesn't decide to line her greedy little lying pockets. She's really a horrible, spineless coward that cares nothing for anyone but herself.
And as far as selling it goes, I'm pretty sure if Kami can't have it, no one can. __ So why don't they open up their own store?? Ask Leah (aka: Mommyish dba: The Digital Press) how that's done. I don't get how Kami is at fault for not offering the store to someone else. Maybe she didn't want to. She's under no obligation, morally or ethically, to do such a thing. In fact, most digi store have just shut down; they haven't been sold to someone else to run. I get how there's hard feelings and rightfully so, if she was dishonest with her designers about the store closing. However, it appears that past personal feelings are more involved here than logic regarding what she's done re: closing the store.
The part of the SO closing thing that really sucks to me is that TLP just had a designer call. If SO designers would've known that SO was closing, they could've applied at TLP before the deadline.
The customer service at SO sucks. Got a set of flowers from Chelle that were blurry and couldn't be fixed. Opened a help ticket at SO and got this response: "We can't help you." Buyer beware! Filing a Paypal dispute.
#109 have you contacted Chelle directly? Just wonder if you may get a resolution going directly through her, I've never dealt with her so I have no idea.
Kami has no motivation to provide customer service with the store closing. She was crap at it before as it was, so no shock if she's worthless now. I second trying Chelle directly.
I have tried contacting Chelle before about the quality of her CU. I got a very curt response saying, "sorry you didn't like it. Here's a refund or your money and the TOU are void on those products now." So even if I liked one or two elements from the pack, she wasn't trying to fix them, just shove the refund in my face with that oh and now you can't use them comment. Found it rude and off-putting.
I had the same problem with one of her items I used when I applied to a store that did a QC check..no matter what I did it was soooo blurry. I asked her about it and never got a response from her.
I had the same problem with one of her items I used when I applied to a store that did a QC check..no matter what I did it was soooo blurry. I asked her about it and never got a response from her. -- How anyone could think this woman's even a decent designer is beyond me. The only reason I gave anything of hers is because of the Daily Digi. I can spot her designs in a flash and it's not because I think they're good. Why anyone would include her CU work in a kit they're designing is really a mystery.
New designers at TLP: Kristin Aagard, Fiddle-dee-dee, Paula Kesselring, Lynn Grieveson, and Mommyish. I was surprised to see Mommyish there - is she not running The Digital Press anymore? If not then who is?
Fiddle Dee Dee and Red Ivy were already planning on leaving before the closing was announced. Everyone else had plans to stay until Kami pulled the rug out from underneath them.
Did you really just compare GottaPixel to The Lilypad?! The two storefronts are nothing alike. I actually like the new look at TLP and find store navigation easier than before. Didn't take long at all to find what I was looking for. Love the search.
I don't know what it means to "get through" a store, but I haven't noticed it taking any extra time to do any of the things I do in a store, like browse, search, or purchase.
Why anyone would include her CU work in a kit they're designing is really a mystery. ---------------- At one time, Chelle's CU stuff was good. Then she started chasing $$$ and pumping out lots of products without checking for quality. It also seemed she'd do a lot of it at the last minute and no one does their best work then.
I wish SWL was going to SSD instead of TLP! Kristin Aagard fits better at SSD than TLP too. Those two additions to TLP alone should really boost their sales. I love Red Ivy and am glad she's at SSD. I guess it all depends upon which store fits best with needs. TLP is a great place to browse but when I'm looking for specifics, they NEVER come through...ever.
I'm surprised the TLP took on BG with their HEAVY use of CU stuff. However, my guess is BG makes a decent amount in sales regardless of that. Where are Dream Big and Tinci going?
The color palette of the SSD advent this year SUCKS __ I agree. It's not that bad looking per se but it's kinda not useable if one has standard Christmas color pics to scrap..I downloaded it but probably will never use it for Christmas pics or at all.
How long do you think they were aware they were closing before they let their designers know? ___ I think Kami knew from the very beginning. Why she told all her designers that it would be fine and they'd stay open....I have no idea.
I read on another board that Mommyish is still part-owner at TDP, even though she's selling at TLP now. Why would any designer want to sell at TDP if the owner thinks there is a better store? Makes no sense!
Pretty sure Laura (Wishing Well) is full owner now. And it just sounds like Leah made a business decision to consolidate her things into one shop. I don't blame her, I've done two shops before and it can be a lot of work.
The designers at TDP who sell CU, sell their CU at SHC. If she wanted to consolidate, she would have had to have TDP start selling CU. TDP is exclusive so that would mean that Laura, Mari K, Scotty Girl, Miss Tiina, and Kim B, would all have to stop selling their CU at SHC and that's not going to happen. That is half of the designers at SHC and so it would end with screwing SHC and/or designers leaving TDP because they want to keep selling at SHC and neither store would win with that. So she made her choice to move to a store where she can sell both in one place and probably gave up ownership at TDP.
Or, she and Laura (THE OWNERS) could have decided that TDP isn't exclusive, or that TDP will sell CU. Because they are THE OWNERS. And as THE OWNERS they set the rules.
A CT member posted in another forum that Leah is still co-owner at TDP.

How would it be unusable? It's full of red and green?
How would it be unusable? It's full of red and green? ____ It's unusable to me because the shades are more autumn-like and not true Christmas. It's just like when some of them use that really orange-like red for their Christmas kits. It's pretty but it doesn't match anything I have for Christmas.

----
If it was "true Christmas", you'd say you have a ton of kits with the same palette!
Or, she and Laura (THE OWNERS) could have decided that TDP isn't exclusive, or that TDP will sell CU. Because they are THE OWNERS. And as THE OWNERS they set the rules. A CT member posted in another forum that Leah is still co-owner at TDP. ----- Yes, the owners set the rules to their own store, not to others (SHC).
If it was "true Christmas", you'd say you have a ton of kits with the same palette! __ Wrong. I have bunches of kits with the same palette because I buy kits that match my photos. Ones that don't are useless to me and I don't buy them. There's a reason why there's umpteen kits in the shop with the same colors-they're popular and people buy them. That's my guess anyway.
Yes, the owners set the rules to their own store, not to others (SHC). _ Thanks for informing us that owners only set the rules to their own store(s). We didn't know that.
A little over eight years ago, we opened Scrap Orchard with the hope of carving out a little space in the world where we could share our passion for memory keeping, learn and grow, laugh and love, and connect with other people who got "digi". Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined Scrap Orchard, this simple string of letters that leads to my own special virtual retreat, would take on such a life of its own. I know what Scrap Orchard means to me, but I am humbled when I hear what it means to so many of you and it is with immeasurable sadness that we have decided to close Scrap Orchard permanently.
This wasn't an easy decision. In fact it is something I have been struggling with for years, if I am being honest. When we first opened Scrap Orchard, I had no idea just how much work would be required to maintain this amazing site and the impact it would have on my own life- both good and bad. I wouldn't trade the last eight years for anything in the world. I have had the privilege to work with the most talented graphic artists and designers in the industry, met (both virtually and in person) hundreds of beautiful, incredible women I never would have met, made some of the best friends I have ever had and will ever have, traveled around the country to places I've never been, acted silly and laughed harder and longer than is probably physically recommended, mentored and supported other work-at-home women to build their own thriving businesses, and been inspired to grow both personally and as an artist. I am left with memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
However, it is time for me to travel a different path. I feel a little like Andy in Toy Story 3, heading off to a new life and leaving his beloved friends behind. [And for those of you who know me, yes I did finally work up the strength to watch Toy Story 3 and as I feared, it did shatter my heart into a million pieces] While I know it won't be the same as it was, I also know that my friends have found new homes and will continue to blossom and grow without me. It is a bittersweet ending.

Andy in Toy Story didnt screw over people right before the holidays - he didnt lie- he didnt bully- he was a class act to bad kami cant live up to a cartoon character.
You don't think they get a lot from their subscriptions? I am a subscriber _ They must be doing a hellacious business with those subscriptions to keep a store afloat from them.
I think it's a little odd that she chose to advertise a particular store when many of the designers are not going to that store. Playing favorites, it seems.
175 apparently she still hasn't given anyone a real concrete answer. I doubt she'll ever actually give that up which is rude as hell to the people who worked for her.
And my thoughts exactly 177. It wasn't just in the newsletter either. It's on the SO blog, on the fanpage on Facebook and in all the SO groups. She told them all when she announced the closing that she'd help them anyway she could. She didn't do anything for anybody and now she's only "promoting" like 4 of them. Typical Kami.
I think it's a little odd that she chose to advertise a particular store when many of the designers are not going to that store. Playing favorites, it seems. ___ I thought this strange too. I've never seen anyone else do that when closing. You're right too in that it's not very fair to the ones not going to TLP.
I don't see TDP closing. I think the majority of the SO designers are opening there this weekend, and why would a store close just because one designer is leaving? I never thought Mommyish was that great anyway. Her quality is hit or miss like the same thing someone said above about Chelle and chasing $$$ and pumping out lots of products without checking for quality.
Well of course Kami promoted whatever store Lena is headed to. Those two have had their heads so far up each other's asses for the past few years you can't even tell they're two people. Also how did Lena get into TLP of all places? I'm done shopping there.
IMO nothing tackier than Kami endorsing one site when her "beloved" designers are headed to at least 4 different sites by my count and TLP isn't even the one where the most of them are going.
IMO nothing tackier than Kami endorsing one site when her "beloved" designers are headed to at least 4 different sites by my count and TLP isn't even the one where the most of them are going. ------------------------- She definitely showed her true colors on this one. If I was one of the designers headed to TDP, I'd be pissed.
If I was one of the designers headed to TDP, I'd be pissed. ------ They are, but at this point they're just done with Kami. Even though she's trying to drag shit out and act like she's friends with them still.
Don't be surprised if Kami shows up at TLP as a designer. ------------ This is what I was thinking. I'm wondering how long it's going to take her to weasel her way in over there (if she hasn't done it already).
I don't understand why, but Bella Gypsy has a very large fan base. Taking them on was a business decision. It will bring in a lot of money. _ I don't understand this either. Their work SUCKS. I bought some of their kits during the Farmer's Market and they're awful.
Not a BG fan and I'm surprised TLP took them on - although I'm sure it will be good from a business perspective. I have to say though, I don't get the whole "if so and so sells at that store, I'm never shopping there again". Yeah, I'm not a fan of Kami or BG but I still love a ton of the TLP designers and want to support them - so just buy from designers you like, don't buy from ones you don't regardless of what store they're at.
I've never understood that way of thinking either. If BG sells as much as I presume they do then why wouldn't TLP take them on strictly from a business standpoint? They are ALL in it to make a buck, right?
To the people who were placing bets about what shop will close next, the Digichick's owner just confirmed that she is selling the shop. This was just posted on her personal fb page tonight:
========
new post on this....so we dont' get overwhelmed with one post. after I post this, we can start another, because this one will probably be LONG smile emoticon
What you guys don't know about my 'take over' at TDC is that I had no choice. I had offered to help Sinead many times...and Sinead always turned me down. I did help out financially with the initial few site design upgrades she did.....but her husband wouldn't allow her to spend anything she did manage to earn - and most of those earnings came from commissions on my sales, along with Julie and Danyales. We were the top three sellers at that time. He gave her 6 months to turn things around...and that was exactly two years ago this month. Julie (Sherwood Studio) and Danyale were having fits about the site looking old and dated..and xcart needed upgrading in a big way. Sinead kept promising...but with her hubby on her back about it, her hands were tied. I finally asked her in April of 2014 what was going to happen...and she finally said to me, in May - that she would either have to close it up, or someone else would have to take over. And I was the ONLY person she would give it to. Sinead mentioned to Danyale that she wasn't sure what would happen in June..and that was all it took to send Danyale packing. Julie had already left for SBG.
Faced with TDC closing....which was NOT a good option for me, I talked it over with Eric, and told Sinead ok. I had NO idea what the back end of the forum or xcart looked like. Sinead dumped a ton of instructions on me...and was there to answer questions...but I was left to do it on my own after a month and a half - she took off for her yearly trip to Ireland...and had forgotten to mention to me that she was leaving smile emoticon
The learning curve I had was hard. Sinead did things the very hard way - - and I found much easier and faster ways of doing things. After taking all the commission money I earned in the first few months....I put it all back into the shop for a new clean look, and upgraded xcart to the max. We had a CT call...and pretty much anyone left that did drama went out the door.
Holly stayed with me. I'm not the most talkative person around, but I do know how to run the business. Having good people handling things, like Holly has - is a must. You two know the ropes.....and have experience with the back end somewhat...and I'll be honest...once you get full admin priveledges in the back end you WILL freak out. It looks scarey as all get out. It's not, tho. Just looks that way. Holly and I will help you get it all figured out...and nothing much would really change other than the few things Holly has laid out for you already. Now that I know my way around everything - I can tell you that the time spent on the shop/forums is exactly what she says it is. I spend about a total of 15 minutes each day making sure everything is set....sometimes more if we have customer emails. Those come in about 2/3 times a week. Other than Wednesdays, the $2 Tuesday sales and payroll.....I am free to design, which is where my head is always buried.
Trust is huge with me, and I trust the two of you beyond belief. I can't even wrap my head around bringing in anyone else. If you two are willing to give it a shot....I would be grateful in ways you can't imagine. TDC is HOME to me. I better stop, lol - or this will freeze up my FB page smile emoticon anyway. that's where I am at...and we won't toss you into this without knowing what you are doing. Holly will teach you - I'll get you set up in admin and help you learn whatever I'm able to teach you. We would only announce it to the team WHEN YOU ARE READY.
I hope that all makes some kind of sense.......I'll be back later, need to fix Eric some supper here.
I was just checking here to see if anyone else saw that post! But I didn't think of copying it over. Well done 197 and now I wonder how blindsided her designers are by this?
I wondered the same thing 190 when I saw that Juno Designs was permanent at TDP and the others were guests. Was she already moving there before Kami closed SO?
200 I know that several designers were already planning on leaving when Kami announced "major changes" to the shop. That was about a month before she said they were just closing all together. My guess is that Juno was one of them.
#2 she posted it on her facebook wall instead of sending it as a private message and she had it set to be viewed publicly. Trust may be important to her but you have to be smarter than the internet to ensure secrecy.

I wish I knew the motivation that would lead to lying to your current staff about the story of yourself taking over a site, but none of that happened and I'm sorry to see her publicly blaming the former owner for anything. She was the last good owner TDC ever had.
* TDC's software was totally upgraded in late 2012 after the site crashed and there was no backup. The owner that Kimerick claims wasn't doing anything was the one who paid for all of the upgrades. The site's software was some of the newest in digiland at the time.
* She should be careful when she blames Julie or Danyale for being fed up and leaving TDC because nothing was being done, when really Julie left TDC in June 2013 and Danyale left in January 2014 and none of these people were even at TDC anymore by April or June 2014. Why she's lying about it now I have no idea but she hasn't ever been one to embrace truth or ethics.
Is anyone else disappointed that Mommyish left SugarHill and went to TLP? Nothing against TLP at all, but I find it much harder to search for her stuff in there now that it's all mixed up with personal use stuff. The same with Just Jaimee, I used to buy from her regularly at SHC but since she moved over I don't think I've bought anything. I wish CU designers would keep their CU stuff in a store that focuses on that specifically.
Yes 7 I agree. I used to shop from her a lot but I never shop at TLP and I don't see myself starting just to buy her CU. I am sooooooooo glad Studio Flergs started at Sugar Hill when Mommyish left and if she keeps selling styles I will just buy from her.

Whatever happened to Alyssa (Profile Couture)?
No. Just NO.
You mean Happy Tits? Don't know.
Is Pixels & Co still alive? Are they selling something?
#17 I know I get a newsletter every blue moon from them. But with them having no gallery, changing so many things in the forum, losing designers, and having that horrible subscription plan, it doesn't seem like they are on the map much anymore. Maybe I'm wrong?
#18: Same here. I can't remember the last time I got a newsletter from them. I stopped by the store a few weeks ago to see what was new. Everything "new" was the designer's contributions--sold individually--to the monthly mega kit. I can't think they'll be around much longer.
14, nothing happened to me. I just stopped scrapping. I still read here every couple of months though. I doubt you actually care though.
dailydigi is the worst it has been in a long time.
Don't even bother this month.
#wasteof$$
21-totally agree. BAD!
It is AWFUL! I don't think I'm going to dl any of it, to tell you the truth.
To be fair, a couple of the kits that aren't too bad. Over all it's not on par with what is advertised.
My sense is most designers don't want to work with Steph. She is a terrible business person.
In what ways is she a terrible business person?
I thought Janet was back in charge of the Daily Digi now. Maybe it is Janet they don't want to work with?
dammit, Janet...
"Screw those other stores. My kits were too good for them anyway."
Uh, okay Tattered Princess Designs. They didn't close your stores because of failure to communicate or because you didn't meet the terms of your contract. They closed them because you're "too good"...right.

Never heard of her.
(Little known facts: I am an Ordained Minister, Third Degree Wiccan High Priestess, former Opera Singer and Violinist and a former bad girl (ok, so the last one isn't that little known and I can still be a bit of a bad girl...or a good girl with a mischievous and cheeky side lol). )

Didn't know that MScraps is closing
http://www.mscraps.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21063
Isn't Mscraps and OScraps together? Would that mean that OScraps is closing too??
I have never heard that the two (MScraps and Oscraps) were connected in any way.
The owner of MScraps is also a designer at OScraps, but not owner.
Digiscrap Parade....love it, hate it, just ehh???
Just meh. I don't like it as much as previous parades.
Is it just me or does it seem like the Daily Digi is not bringing new designers onboard anymore? This month is a bunch of repeats.
Oh, and MScraps, OScraps and Pickleberry Pop all have some great stuff too!
---
Well, your "sense" is seemingly off since she has hundreds of designers contribute every year.
Is anyone else in love with Creashens Designs? I'm finding myself very drawn to her things!
Her stuff is too specific for me. Very juvenile and girly.I like things that are more versatile.
I love Creashens and have lots of her stuff. I find her designs original and very versatile. I guess it all depends on what kind of scrapbook pages you like to make and how much imagination you have.
#39 the DD is horrible,
I am going to cancel.
#39 the DD is horrible,
I am going to cancel.
___
I thought it was MUCH worse last month than this one.
Studio Flergs is guesting at The Digital Press...I thought SSD Designers had to be exclusive?
Just because they are guesting doesn't mean they're not exclusive. Her guest store will be open for a month and that's it. Other SSD designers have guested, some even at TDP.
So what was good this DSD weekend?
There were great sales all over DigiLand. I bought from TDP, TLP, SSD, digichick, SO and Gingerscraps. There were new releases, challenges and freebies all over the place. It was one of the best DSD's ever IMO.
I agree. I think most of the shops and their designers went out of their way this year to provide a diversified selection of kits and templates, most at a great value. I just wish I'd had more time to participate in all the challenges!
The Farmer's Market at SO was really disappointing this time around.
#59 I thought the same thing, First time,
I bought nothing.
Liz and Cheryl's templates were great but I have so many as it is. The new designers at SO ... Blech
I actually ended up getting way more than I did at the FM in May. I bought 12 things this time around. Overall I found the sales for Black Friday even better than the DSD weekend. I overspent quite a bit!
The SO Advent thing is OK but designers who want you to join their closed Facebook group just to get a freebie are a special kind of dumb.
maybe the designers at SO know that its on the ropes and are trying to keep their own fans close before kamee crashes the shop into the ground.
SO is closing - dec 31st
I had a gut feeling SO might be closing soon. Don't know why I thought that as I have no inside info.
#65...how confident are you that SO is closing???
Ding dong the witch is dead-
Very. From a designer.
65 - your "inside information" is totally wrong. nice try at stirring the pot though.
No pot stirring. I can tell you without a doubt they are closing. Kami is waiting until the advent thing finishes to announce it.
It is closing. #65 is right
I also heard it - from a designer. Not sure why 70 is trying to pretend otherwise.
I also heard it from two designers and know they have both found new homes already, although they wouldn't say where of course.
I'd rather them go to a different shop as well
I'd like to see a few of them go to SSD, mainly Kristin Aagard, mleCard and Dream Big - I think Dream Big Designs would fit really well there.
If the store is profitable and she just wants to move on, wouldn't it make more sense to SELL it than to just close it?
Seems like more is going on behind the scenes at SO. I am on their site staff and no one even told us about the store closing.
I feel for you #85. If SO is indeed closing, the store's designers and site staff should've been told as soon as the decision was made. It's unprofessional to have them find out some other way.
Designers have been told, that's how the word got out. They are telling their CT's and applying at other shops.
Announcement post just went up on Facebook. They are definitely closing on the 31st.
I wish they'd announced it earlier. I didn't shop at all Black Friday & Advent because I still have a ton of stuff I haven't used but I would have cleared my wish list there if I'd known. I hope they end with a big bang with their last ever signature farmer's market.
Happy now #70?
Many of the designers will have sales until the end of the month.
94 I wonder if #70 was a member of the site staff who didn't get notified but had to find out through second or even third hand information? Apparently that's how this all went down so it wouldn't be surprising. That's a shame.
The site staff wasn't informed until yesterday or the day before. The designers have only known for about a week.
I would LOVE to know where Scrapping with Liz, Kristin Aagard and Red Ivy are all going! I buy from them ALL the time and hope they have all found a new home!
Does anyone know exactly WHY they're closing? Were they losing money?
I feel for the designers. What a Holiday surprise for them. I hope they all find great new homes.
Me too 103. Especially after they were told a few weeks ago that the shop would NOT be closing.
__
So why don't they open up their own store??
107-I'm sure that there are stores that would welcome the designers from SO. Most of the designers are pretty well known.
No wonder they are going out of business! And beware, most of the stuff I got from Chelle in the past year has been blurry!
I bought a few CU flower sets from Chelle a few days ago, and I didn't see anything wrong with them.
The color palette of the SSD advent this year SUCKS.

How anyone could think this woman's even a decent designer is beyond me. The only reason I gave anything of hers is because of the Daily Digi. I can spot her designs in a flash and it's not because I think they're good. Why anyone would include her CU work in a kit they're designing is really a mystery.
Should be "have" anything of hers.
Totally agree 116. It's the orange and yellow in there that just make it look too fallish for me. Not holiday hustle at all!
Doesn't the Lilypad's new site look FABULOUS!!
Whut.
New designers at TLP: Kristin Aagard, Fiddle-dee-dee, Paula Kesselring, Lynn Grieveson, and Mommyish. I was surprised to see Mommyish there - is she not running The Digital Press anymore? If not then who is?
Laura Passage (Wishing Well Creations) runs TDP now
That's the first sign it's going down.
She's been the one running it for most of the year since it's been open anyway so it seems like all this does is make it official.
Well I think it is pretty obvious why Kami decided to close store so abruptly after seeing The Lily Pads new designers.
Kami was already closing the store.
Red Ivy is at SSD.
Is Vera Lim leaving SSD? Just noticed all her products are in the GGG sale. Couple of things I liked but won't purchase if I cant use for challenges
I love Red Ivy! I love SSD! A Great Fit!
I don't know why Vera Lim started there; she NEVER participates in anything; her presence in the forums is nil
Kristin Aagard was not leaving SO until Kami chose to close.
Fiddle Dee Dee and Red Ivy were already planning on leaving before the closing was announced. Everyone else had plans to stay until Kami pulled the rug out from underneath them.
#120 no, I personally think it sucks.
Takes forever to get through the store, just like
gottapixel. I quit shopping there for that exact reason.
----------------
At one time, Chelle's CU stuff was good. Then she started chasing $$$ and pumping out lots of products without checking for quality. It also seemed she'd do a lot of it at the last minute and no one does their best work then.
134
I am having the same issue with TLP, when I go to the store/home page, it takes awhile for each line to load. Is this what you were meaning?
BG is going to TLP.
I wish it was Red Ivy instead going to TLP.

I agree. It's not that bad looking per se but it's kinda not useable if one has standard Christmas color pics to scrap..I downloaded it but probably will never use it for Christmas pics or at all.

How long do you think they were aware they were closing before they let their designers know?
Those two additions to TLP alone should really boost their sales.
__
Mommyish will be a wonderful addition there too!
I'm surprised TLP took on SWL. She has good ideas but her work, to me, always has the feel of a beginner freebie designer.
How long do you think they were aware they were closing before they let their designers know?
___
I think Kami knew from the very beginning. Why she told all her designers that it would be fine and they'd stay open....I have no idea.
I read on another board that Mommyish is still part-owner at TDP, even though she's selling at TLP now. Why would any designer want to sell at TDP if the owner thinks there is a better store? Makes no sense!
It doesn't make any sense to co-own one store and sell at another. It kinda says that the store you partly own ain't that great.
If I was a designer at TDP, I'd be shopping for a new store pronto. Serious conflict of interest there.
I predict TDP will be the next store to close. I don't know how/why Pixels and Co. still exists either. Obviously, it's not from sales.
Kristin didn't want to raise her kit prices to go to SSD.
Pretty sure Laura (Wishing Well) is full owner now. And it just sounds like Leah made a business decision to consolidate her things into one shop. I don't blame her, I've done two shops before and it can be a lot of work.
She could have done that at her own store, but clearly she doesn't believe in it.
The Digital Press doesn't sell CU.

____
It's unusable to me because the shades are more autumn-like and not true Christmas. It's just like when some of them use that really orange-like red for their Christmas kits. It's pretty but it doesn't match anything I have for Christmas.

If it was "true Christmas", you'd say you have a ton of kits with the same palette!

Yes, the owners set the rules to their own store, not to others (SHC).

__
Wrong.

Thanks for informing us that owners only set the rules to their own store(s). We didn't know that.

A Final Farewell

More fake BS from Kami. Nice to know how much she "cares" about all her "friends" after she lied to them for months. Smdh
Andy in Toy Story didnt screw over people right before the holidays - he didnt lie- he didnt bully- he was a class act to bad kami cant live up to a cartoon character.
Geesh quit complaining about a freebie and move on.

Thanks for putting me in my place and for being the self-appointed Post Police.
Why exactly did she close the store? Does anyone know for sure or is it all conjecture?
You don't think they get a lot from their subscriptions? I am a subscriber
_
They must be doing a hellacious business with those subscriptions to keep a store afloat from them.

I thought this strange too.

-------------------------
She definitely showed her true colors on this one. If I was one of the designers headed to TDP, I'd be pissed.
Don't be surprised if Kami shows up at TLP as a designer. Perhaps she has some agenda for endorsing them.

They are, but at this point they're just done with Kami. Even though she's trying to drag shit out and act like she's friends with them still.

------------
This is what I was thinking. I'm wondering how long it's going to take her to weasel her way in over there (if she hasn't done it already).
Why would TLP take Bella Gypsy?
I'm wondering the same thing 186. Their designs are ok, but not worth 7.50 a kit to me.
#183 I agree with you, if Kami shows up at TLP it will
ruin the store. I purchase a lot there and will go elsewhere.
I don't understand why, but Bella Gypsy has a very large fan base. Taking them on was a business decision. It will bring in a lot of money.
So several SO designers are guests this month at TDP. Did they not find permanent homes yet? Or is TDP just testing them out to see how they do?

I don't understand this either. Their work SUCKS. I bought some of their kits during the Farmer's Market and they're awful.
anyone feel like sharing a peek of this months digifiles please?
191, I think all BG's stuff looks alike.
AGREED 191. My guess is that TLP wasn't their first choice but they couldn't pass a QC anywhere else.
========
new post on this....so we dont' get overwhelmed with one post. after I post this, we can start another, because this one will probably be LONG smile emoticon
I hope that all makes some kind of sense.......I'll be back later, need to fix Eric some supper here.
someone named Megan Mcdonough taking over.
"Trust is huge with me, and I trust the two of you beyond belief."
...and then someone posts this for everyone to see. So much for that trust.
#2 she posted it on her facebook wall instead of sending it as a private message and she had it set to be viewed publicly. Trust may be important to her but you have to be smarter than the internet to ensure secrecy.

After taking all the commission money I earned in the first few months....I put it all back into the shop for a new clean look
---
She thinks that site has a "new" or "clean" look right now? LMAO
She sounds like a total ass in that entire post. And trying to add in stupid emoticons while making the previous owner sound horrible is disgusting.
So who is this Megan person? There are 2 designers in the shop that are a Meg or Megan. Who is the new owner now ....
So who is this Megan person?
This is her user name on TDC: meggersjm
Flergs is at SHCO
Yes 7 I agree. I used to shop from her a lot but I never shop at TLP and I don't see myself starting just to buy her CU. I am sooooooooo glad Studio Flergs started at Sugar Hill when Mommyish left and if she keeps selling styles I will just buy from her.
Wow Kimeric sounds like a real asshole. Not because someone else told me she is one / because she just made herself sound like one.
