Even if you don't have kids, aren't there other things to scrap other than yourself?
Yes, it would bother me if my CT use the same photos again and again. Especially the same selfie. Fortunately, none of my CT does that. Some of them don't have kids, but they manage to find different photos to scrap with my kits.
I admit, I've scrapped some of the same photos several times, but it's usually years apart, not constantly. It would drive me crazy to see people constantly reusing the same few photos.
#2, totally agree! Even if you're posting selfies, take some new ones, for crying out loud! and please try to find something else to take a photo of, or maybe you don't need a photo if it's more of a feelings type page. This totally bugs me. There's one person in particular at SSD that does this constantly.
#4 No, I don't care if you're scrapping pictures of yourself, it's the same 2 or 3 selfies over and over again. I know not everyone is lucky enough to have kids. Scrapping photos of yourself is an important part of your history, I do it too. Just mix it up!
It's just the same few pictures. As a designer, if they were on my team it would really bother me.
Anyone noticed Amber Morrison's store @ P&Co closed earlier than announced?? Is it just me, or has it become way more common for shops to be closed down suddenly?
Interesting. Looks like she's at the Studio, interesting choice IMO. Wonder what the other store will be and whether she will open sooner there as well.
re reusing a pic for CT LOs: I don't want my children's pics online. So I don't post recent pics of them online (I don't even have a facebook account--GASP!). So I use a few pics of myself and a few of the back of their heads (that are a few years old). And when I was a CTM (recently quit all my teams cuz this summer is crazy-busy), I would scrap a page for MYSELF and put whatever pics I wanted to in it...and then swap them out for the "generics" when I gave it to my designer. They never cared. But it was more than just one or two pics. And I did scrap other pics as well. But my designers focused a lot on people/emotions/otherwise geared-toward-humans kits, so it was sometimes tough to use a non-person pic. An "First Day of School" kit would look weird with a snapshot of a sunset. So it gets one of my child walking into school--no faces, no other kids, no writing on the walls to let you know where the pic was taken.
It is weird to see the same pic. All. The. Time. But I also think it shows the versatility of the kits with which it was scrapped.
I have also noticed, occasionally, people scrapping the same picture over and over. I always think it is weird, but try to explain it away as they are just enjoying the creative process of putting a page together. It's not how I would want to spend my time, but maybe they enjoy it.
What are your thoughts on people that scrap the same photo over and over again for CT requirements? Or similar ones? Or they're constantly using pictures of themselves. ---------
It doesn't bother me in the least. When I was designer, I didn't care either, as long as they were making pages, I didn't give two hoots what kind of photos they were using, just as long as they weren't offensive.
It doesn't bother me in the least. When I was designer, I didn't care either, as long as they were making pages, I didn't give two hoots what kind of photos they were using, just as long as they weren't offensive. --- Yeah, well, you weren't very savvy as a designer then. There's no way in hell I would allow a ct member to post the same selfie continuously on my designs. Carrie and Judi (sp?) on the SSD CT do this ALL the TIME and people begin to associate the monotony of seeing those boring photos with the designs upon which they sit. It's human nature. If these allegedly creative ladies cannot "create" different pictures of themselves and/or other people, places or things, they have no business being on a creative team, period.
it's the same 2 or 3 selfies over and over again. _______ exactly. If you're going to continuously scrap yourself, at least show some diversity and get that cell phone out more often!
Why would it bother you if people scrap only pictures of themselves? Not everyone is lucky enough to have/be able to have kids! ___ Yes, and there's NOTHING in this entire world to photograph except for oneself and children.
I think Nettio used to do a great job of scrapping lots of varied photos (and she had no kids then). She used different pics of herself, her hubby, the places they traveled, restaurants, etc. There are TONS of things to take pics of other than one or two of yourself, whether you have kids or not. I agree with whoever talked about associating the monotony of the photos with the pages and kits - I don't even want to keep looking once I see that same stupid selfie on the page.
Carrie and Judi (sp?) on the SSD CT do this ALL the TIME and people begin to associate the monotony of seeing those boring photos with the designs upon which they sit. It's human nature. ----------
Clearly not in my nature. I have quite honestly never done this. I don't associate the photo with the kit probably because I'm not buying the photo, just the kit.
Clearly not in my nature. I have quite honestly never done this. I don't associate the photo with the kit probably because I'm not buying the photo, just the kit. ___ Obviously, you're not buying the photo and I don't think anyone said or thinks that's the case but thanks for filling us in. Bottom line: To be on a ct, the designs should be shown in the best possible manner and using the same selfie repeatedly is not doing that. It's lazy and boring. If you don't mind, fine. Maybe some others don't either. However, lots do, I bet, and, as a designer, I wouldn't chance it when there's wonderful scrappers out there who do great work with a multitude of photos of people, places and situations who enjoy doing quality ct work.
I agree that Nettio did a wonderful job scrapping different types of things. Sula and Adrianka don't have children either and they do beautiful, interesting pages with all sorts of places and subjects. The ones they do of themselves are creative and relate to the page. It's not some selfie taken in a car that's already been used 2309853059438 times.
There is a girl at Scrap Orchard that scraps picure after picture of her daughter cheerleading. If I was a designer, I'd say enough with the cheerleading pics already!
There is one lady on one of the teams I'm on that photographs wonderful nature photos. I love her photos. She does a magnificent job with them, and I always look forward to her seeing her layouts. She doesn't have children, and she finds many things to take photos of. Personally I've used photos over again when I find a kit that would be good for that particular photo. I try not to use the same designers kits when I do that though, and try not to use them very often. I have a zillion photos, so it isn't necessary most of the time. I don't care for selfies with the puckered up faces. Those kind of photos really turn me off, and I usually shy away from photos of myself because I'm the one usually behind the camera. I get my husband to take some photos of me sometimes, but then those always looked "forced" so I still don't use them even though I know I should be in some of my pages. I find scrapping myself very difficult, but will do a journaling page about me at times.
I seriously just saw a Layout Judie Did at SSD and she just added a book to a selfie she's posted 5 thousand times!
___ I am SO tired of seeing the same types of "Judie" photos OVER and OVER! Even if it's not the same exact pic, it's the same pose, same expression on her face, etc.
Maybe it's just paranoia over the crazy requirements SSD designers have on how all your photos have to be professionally taken and post processed. I don't scrap pictures like that everyday and I'd be lazy and use the same "correct" over and over if I had to.
Any thoughts on how the SSD challenge for August is the same as TLP's month of challenges only with crappier prizes?
28, I find it tough to scrap about myself, too. Or rather, if I do scrap a pic of myself, it's not a LO I post online. Someone mentioned "used your cell phone's camera" to take pics. I didn't have a good quality cell phone camera until a few months ago (I hate smart phones, so my little phone never had a nice camera, but DH finally convinced me to upgrade to a stupid smart phone). And as it is, my Galaxy's camera isn't "good" compared to my DSLR, or even my point-and-shoot cameras. So I don't use it except to snap quick pics of the kids to send to the grandparents. And again, why would I use it to take a pic of myself? WHEN would I take a pic of myself? Driving? Unlike most of my generation, my phone is not surgically attached to my hand.
You are all so judgmental! Who cares what photos someone uses? It's their layouts and their life. If the designer doesn't care enough to say something, then it doesn't matter. Probably because the rest of their customers aren't stalking and tracking every photo a CTer uses in a layout. Use your pgdn key more often and you'll be happier.
Store CT spots are pretty coveted, and I think that many of us see those team members as representing the community, or kind of like role models. So it is natural to notice what they post, what kind of pictures they use, and whether they seem passionate about scrapping. It's not just stalking and being judgmental.
So when one says one doesn't like something, it's sour grapes and being judgmental? That's ridiculous and a diversion tactic because you don't know what else to say. It's okay to say nothing; really It is.
Um, but we all know that they aren't always chosen based on skill, so why even bother to put them on a pedestal as a role model. That's just naïve. ---- While I don't put ANY scrapper on a pedestal, I do,look at their work from time to time to see a kit in action. This is their purpose, to advertise the kit in its best way for the designer. If I can't stand looking at Carrie, in a car, any longer, than that's a problem, not only for me, but the designer as well. If you don't agree, cool. Lots do.
Here's one that agrees, and quite a few others on this blog agree as well. We're sick of Carrie's selfie in her car. And it's a smack blog, we're allowed to say so here whether you agree or not.
Nobody said that you couldn't say it. Just that you are judgmental for saying it. I don't care what other people scrap CT or not. I look at the layout to see the elements and papers, not the pictures. If the designer cares, then she can remove them from the team. Go ahead and smack away but don't expect to not have a discussion about your opinion. That's just immature.
Where is the indication of surprise? It was just a statement. _ Cool. You've stated your statement plenty. There's several of us who disagree with you and we've stated ours. The problem is the labels you put on statements that don't agree with yours. You seemingly have nothing intelligent to contribute so you throw terms like "judgmental" and "immature" (I wonder if you know what either actually mean by the way you've used them.) out there without really saying anything else.
And how do you know "lots do" agree with you? You've taken a formal survey? __ That's a good idea for you! It will keep you busy AND we won't have to read your nonsensical posts here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The problem is the labels you put on statements that don't agree with yours. You seemingly have nothing intelligent to contribute so you throw terms like "judgmental" and "immature" (I wonder if you know what either actually mean by the way you've used them.) out there without really saying anything else. ----
So you get to put a label on statements that don't agree with yours and it's ok? Calling someone a sanctimonious douche for saying you are being judgmental isn't doing the exact same thing?
There is talk on FB about a CT member who is scamming designers. Who is it? ---------------------- Could you direct us to the FB discussion please? (Though I do have a pretty good idea who it might be.)
- Calling someone a sanctimonious douche for saying you are being judgmental isn't doing the exact same thing?
Who said it wasn't the exact same thing? But some of us are admitting it. We're all on a smack blog for the purpose of being judgmental, so yes, you're a sanctimonious douche for disagreeing with opinions that are different than yours and then complaining that the posters who disagree with you are immature and judgmental. Get over yourself already, you're not that wonderful.
just d/l the DigiScrap Parade, had so skip a couple, as usual the contributions from Digi chick not worth getting. I really liked this months colour palette. Its a real pain with Peppermint Creative having to sign up for the newsletter. Mommish & creshens minis not available. Will be unzipping tonight.
that the posters who disagree with you are immature
---
That's not what I said. I said that it's immature to put your opinion out and expect everyone to just agree with you and then whine about others saying you can't state your opinion just because they disagree with you. Nobody ever said that. I don't expect you or others to agree with my opinion that you are overly critical of what others choose to scrap. If you felt shut-down, that's your own emotional immaturity. Go ahead and discuss. That's what we are here for.
The problem with only putting freebies in newsletters is that people don't always open newsletters, newsletters sometimes get lost in delivery or delivered into spam, etc. If you put all that time and effort into making something, I'd think you'd want people to actually receive it.
So you get to put a label on statements that don't agree with yours and it's ok? Calling someone a sanctimonious douche for saying you are being judgmental isn't doing the exact same thing? ___ Okay, I didn't call you that but...if the bag fits..
I've never done ct work so I don't understand how a ct member could "scam" a designer. Please enlighten me. Obviously, I'm very uninformed. I thought a ct person worked with a designer's kits by making pages. If he or she uses the kit, they get it free. How can you scam someone doing that?
68: I am not familiar with the case mentioned, but two ways I can think of are to 1) download product without every supplying pages 2) redistributing kits as free downloads on pirating sites.
There have been warnings going around about someone named: Yvette Sandoval aka princesa It's being said that she downloaded tons of kits and didn't make pages from both stores and individual designers. She was reportedly kicked out of the CT Call FB Group linked here and started her own. I have no experience with her but that's what is being said. She hasn't been accused of piracy, just downloading a lot and not making pages.
# 68 - taking advantage of designers good will, is not the way to make a name for your self in digiland. CT'ing is a commitment not to be taken lightly. Designers work hard for there money and to have someone steal their product is disgusting. I hope that whoever it is, is dumped from all her CT's
digi files Studio JMdesigns is featured today wish they would go back to the paypal this sucks!! I love Julia's kits I refuse to do the credit card monthly billing a pain in the ass to cancel subscription, I think digi files is hurting themselves only going to CC/debit only What do others feel about this payment method?
I was worried too but it was really easy to cancel my subscription. There's a button that you can just click unsubscribe. I unsubscribe as soon as I'm done downloading the month's files.
Mye can't get into any other stores. ___________ Because of gossip, innuendo and downright lies, that may be true. It's unfortunate because no one really knows the entire story.
She allegedly pocketed all the money from the sales of her collabs and didn't share the wealth with her collaborators. This was while she was at P&CO. I'm not sure if the involved designers EVER got their money. I'm still wondering if this couldn't have been an honest mistake on her part with all she has going on.
The people involved know, and that's quite a few. -- Do you think she honestly knowingly ripped these people off? She's not that stupid. She had to know she'd get caught and then what? Why would she take that chance? There's something very fishy about the entire mess.
I thought her (Amanda Yi) kits are cute. I especially liked her Stash elements, and I think her color palettes are eye catching. I think her kits fit in well at P&Co.
loving the TLP August daily freebies, being very impressed with quality/quantity from each designer. Also loving the colour palette. they really have stepped it up.
Is anyone keeping up with the challenges at SSD? I'm highly amused by the fact that no one seems to be following the rules very well and Robin and Libby keep having to remind people to read.
Is anyone keeping up with the challenges at SSD? I'm highly amused by the fact that no one seems to be following the rules very well and Robin and Libby keep having to remind people to read. ---- Exaggerate much?
childish phrasing style that went out of fashion years ago and is now mainly used by 9 year old girls.
---- Very substandard diversion tactic. Let me rephrase for you. The op who said that "no one seems to be following the rules very well" and that "Robin and Libby have to keep reminding people to read" is lying out hers or his ass. Is that phrased better for you, Moron?
I hope Joy stays at TLP too- I never buy anything from her at SO. Even tho I always like her stuff- I just don't shop there- doubt anything "big" would change that. plus I like playing and posting at TLP much better- but I know TLP is really hard to get into.
Well, I'm getting quite frustrated. It seems like the only time TLPs designers are putting out quality kits is BYOC week. Okay, maybe except for Just Jaimee...she did release a Storyteller collection last week in addition to her BYOC kit the week before.
121 - Darn! I hope it's just temporary (she said her products will be exclusive to TLP this month). I would like a sale and I have a couple of coupons I could use on her stuff at SO. She's the only one I still shop from there, so if she's moving I'm done with SO.
exactly. which is why i can't blame any designer or ct for leaving there. she is her own worst enemy. scrap orchard will bite the dust eventually with that attitude. and i have no doubt a designer call will follow their bee call, since their designers are dropping like flies. you'd think they'd realize maybe it's their own fault.doh
125-ya think? She really is a piece of work, and any designer would be nuts to go there now. There are so many people that I know (including myself) that won't shop there after Kami's shenanigans.
agree. she's so impulsive that she'll cut off her own nose to spite her face. oh, and now she appears to be "trying" to jump on the art journaling bandwagon. what a joke
Can someone please tell Valentina's Creations that she is not the TOP designer she seems to think she is. Her quality sucks and her attitude is horrible. I think her new CT call tells a lot.
-------------
Hello my friends. Valentina’s Creations is renewing the asset of the Creative Team and new positions are open. At the beginning I didn’t want to do an open call. Since the asset is getting more professional and complex, I thought it was better recruiting professional figures from the market directly. Then I changed my mind. I realized that I really don’t know where to find those professional figures and then, I’ve thought that nothing is better than the enthusiasm of true scrappers, the ones who are addicted, passionate and moved by love. During all these years I’ve met such fabolous people. Their talent and friendship allowed me to grew up, to find new energy and new inspiration. It could happen that creative members are obliged to leave the team, but we always keep in touch and preserve beautiful memories of each others and of the wonderful adventure we shared together.
For the new year (2015) I’m planning a lot of new things but I already know that I won’t be able to manage all these new projects alone. I need trusted and talented people on my side, someone to count on in every moment. Dealing with a creative team is not easy. But a well-organized and established team could make extraordinary things and that’s what I’m trying to build up. The new principle of the team is “working hard” and “stay in touch”.
WE’RE LOOKING FOR: 1 CT HEAD: paid position (small fixed fee per month + full access PU/CU) 2 Hybrid Artists/Blog writers (expert of CAMEO Silhouette) 2 Cardmakers/Blog writers 2 Challenge Coordinators (1 per Scrapbookbytes.com, 1 per The Studio) 4 CT members with Praiser roles. 16 new Creative Members
YOU CANNOT APPLY IF… Designers, Cards Resellers, and all those who are involved in any scrap-related business activity, aren’t accepted as creative members and as part of the team in other special positions.
NEW FACES: In this call we’re accepting only new members. Past members aren’t accepted on this turn. Thanks for understanding. References are welcome and they constitute a point in favor among candidates of the list.
IMPORTANT: STABILITY AND PROFESSIONALITY I produce about 1 collection per week, my style is dynamic and I need very versatile people who are able to switch among different techniques! I won’t accept members who plan to stay only for a few months. Please consider to be part of the team at least for ONE ENTIRE YEAR. Members mus sign Contrats/Agreements.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: Full availability (mobile and full address are required) Social Network Accounts are required (Facebook and Pinterest are mandatory) Blog is required Good knowledge of the English language
PLEASE fill up application here within August, 31 – 2014.
Due the huge amount of work, only accepted candidates will be contacted. Thanks for understanding.
"someone to count on in every moment" = someone to create layouts at the last minute because i didn't have my sh*t together enough to get you things a few days ahead of time.
Goodness, you'd have to really, really, REALLY love her stuff to deal with all that nonsense. She comes off as very arrogant and....long winded in that post! It would be very interesting to know how many apply. Is that normal for a ct member to be required to sign a contract? If it is, how is it upheld?
Oh that post by her is laughable. If she wasn't in every store and jump from shop to shop, she might actually be able to build up a good business And if she took her time to really research she would find that almost every single product she has made is on a pirate site. You can't run a business like that.
Why is it her fault that stuff she made is on pirate sites? Legit customers are not visiting those sites and downloading. When I was a designer, I gave up fighting it. It took too much time and didn't seem to hurt my sales.
I think she comes off as lofty in her posting partly because of the language barrier.
Due the huge amount of work, only accepted candidates will be contacted. Thanks for understanding.
Nothing like thinking positive. How does she know how many applications she'll get with all those requirements? Plus, I'm pretty sure The Lilypad had one of the biggest calls ever and they sent out personalized rejection letters to everyone. I'm not saying she has to send out personal rejections but it's not going to take that long to copy and paste a "Thanks for applying but not at this time" email to each applicant. It all just comes off as being very full of oneself and a bit rude.
I think she probably is a good person and I'm sure the language difference is partly the problem. I do think though that she has made a mistake by saying only accepted candidates will be contacted. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a 'thanks, but no thanks' if one has taken the time to submit a detailed application.
132-She actually is very nice. I'm sure it's just the language thing. The one thing that got me about the ad was the part of having to have very good English skills. ok---
142 - the need for good English skills might be exactly because of her difficulties in that area. Maybe she would like someone who can help her with having acceptable English on her previews or descriptions, or something like that. I think it is actually a good thing if she can see her limitations and seeks out help for it. So, you would criticize her for seeking a helper in English, but I bet you would likely criticize her if she was making English errors on her previews!
Why is it her fault that stuff she made is on pirate sites? -----
Who said it was her fault? The poster said if she took the time to research. ____
Still. Why should she take the time to find out that her kits are on pirate sites? What does it have to do with "That post is laughable..."
If it is a totally different statement, not related to the "laughable post", maybe #137 should improve her English skills to make sure that her intentions are clear. I also read it as if the "jumping from one store to another" and the "pirate site issue", were explanations of why she (or he) thought the post was "laughable". An in conclusion, she (or he) said "that is not the way to run a business". Humm... Those are apparently all unrelated issues.
143-I was not criticizing her at all. I said I liked her I said she was nice. I don't use her product it's not my style though, but I like it. I just thought that part was a funny requirement--understandable, but funny. Geeze, get a life!
I was wondering what people thought about the TLP challenge coupons? I participated last month, and when I got my coupon code (20%) it said it can't be uses on BYOC, can't be used during quarterly sale, can't be used etc, etc. It was a real let down.
Who said it was her fault? The poster said if she took the time to research. ....................................................................
How does the poster know she hasn't research and her attempts to stop it have been ignored? Have you ever tried to get a pirate to stop pirating your kits?
I don't understand what everyone's beef is with Kami. I am guessing that the people complaining about her got personally burned by her somehow? Or is this all just word of mouth?
I personally contacted her recently about some things and she was nothing but nice and helpful to me.
133-she's someone that posters on this blog love to hate. I'm not sure how she got that reputation but it seems a lot of store owners have bad reps, so I think it's just smack. If someone decides to leave SO they'll always say it's because Kami's evil. When actually the designer probably just wanted to take a new opportunity.
156 yes- I agree. I don't think there's always the drama people make out- sometimes designers just change shops for different opportunities. I dont think its always so personal. Bottom line is that they are selling something. I think SO products are a different style than TLP- a move may be based on that.
So Thaty Borges is closing up shop at Sugarhill. I don't understand why she opened there, didn't add some of her better products from previous stores, but is now closing already. It seems she didn't even give it a chance. Too bad, I really like her stuff.
No, Kami really is that bad. ------------ No, she really isn't. ------------ YES. she really is. more than just a few have justifiable reason and it hasn't just come from the designers or CT themselves. i've personally heard kami's side of some of the issues, and yes, she is that bad.
YES. she really is. more than just a few have justifiable reason and it hasn't just come from the designers or CT themselves. i've personally heard kami's side of some of the issues, and yes, she is that bad. -------- And we believe you because you're to be sooooooo trusted. The woman obviously confided in you and you come here posting shit about her anonymously ...YES, YOU are THAT bad! What an asshole.
Oh, excuse me. Are we not allowed to change our minds after we find out the truth about someone? If your husband cheated on you after you married, would you not have something bad to say about him? YOU are an asshole for judging something you know nothing about, so get off your high horse little miss kami defender
Basic math skills and logic would say otherwise, 168. I'm 159, and if I gave specifics I would be outing myself. I'm obviously not the only one who has had bad experiences with Kami.
Your math is and logic is poor. A number of designers have been there for years. No, it's not obvious that you are not the only one when everyone is named anonymous.
The "number of designers who have been there for years" will always be outnumbered by the ones who have come and gone. Because math. FFS, some people are dumb.
It is obvious to me that I'm not the only one, because I am 159/169/171. I am not 163, 165, or 167. I think it's sweet that you defend her, though. I used to be her defender here too.
171, it's that way at all stores at that level. When you look at the stores those designers move to, then it's certainly because they are stepping up. It may not have to do with Kami, just the place the store has in the industry. Unless you interview every designer you don't know their reasons. Your personal feelings about Kami are not a factor.
^it's so difficult for the simple minds here to comprehend the concept that not everything is entrenched in drama with a store owner. Sometimes it's just a matter of business.
So, every single designer that has ever left SO did it because of Kami's knee jerk reactions? The SSD call had absolutely nothing to do with it? Even if I was at a decent store like SO, I wouldn't pass on that gig if offered. Use some logic people.
Forever Joy broke SO's exclusive-only contract. She signed it and then chose to break it. I guess she's not going to be put through ringer for breaking the contract and Kami is a bitch because she insisted the contract be upheld? Time to look at it from both sides before you accuse someone of a knee-jerk reaction.
um- ive heard guesting is allowed at SO- and Joy has only been at TLP a month- guesting- so i doubt there was a crime committed. we dont know anything happened- on either side. Who knows if she is even going to get to stay on- TLP has very high standards
I think Forever Joy released some older products at TLP for the SOSN on Wednesdays. Is that the exclusivity that she violated? Because she had the same product at both stores? If she had only released brand new stuff at TLP, then it would have been ok?
ever wonder why forever joy would consider guesting at another place? funny how there have been more than a few designers show up at SO, just to disappear fairly quickly after. i'm guessing they figure out pretty quickly that it isn't all wine and roses. kami is very clique-ish. very few are on her good side. the rest are chewed up and spit out. and her sister is even twice the bitch.
Nope, it just looks to me like the usual designers moving around to find their niche or jump into a coveted spot at other stores. It happens at many shops. I doubt there really is as much drama as everyone says.
How about some specifics on how she chewed them up and spit them out? That seems a bit self-defeating to me and highly unlikely for anyone trying to run a business. Plenty of newer designers have fit right in. What made them so different?
ever wonder why forever joy would consider guesting at another place?
----------
um, because it's The Lily Pad. What designer wouldn't take that opportunity? That's a stupid question and the decision probably had very little to do with Kami.
yes, and? So many other stores aren't either and their owners aren't getting smacked for designers leaving. It happens all the time. It's a common complaint in this industry.
The fact that the other owners AREN'T getting smacked when designers leave tells you everything you need to know. I'm not sure why you have such a hard-on for Kami/SO.
Kami is very cliquish. She is very controlling. She is sneaky and backstabbing. That's my experience, and by the number of people commenting here who feel the same, my experience is not a unique one.
Or it says they have discretion. But, sure, go with the one that makes you feel better. Because all of these people must have a personal grudge or be envious of Kami.
no specifics. just generalizations. all that says is that someone has a grudge or sour grapes... ------- Or perhaps a legitimate gripe. It seems to me that some of you wouldn't accept any specific reasons anyhow.
Your point, however, does say that you have a singular lack of imagination.
FFS. She's suggesting that you pull your head out of your ass and realize that just because *you* haven't had a bad encounter with Kami doesn't mean that others haven't.
Some people aren't willing to judge others until we have the details. Since details aren't being given, I can't blame others for saying it's all just smack and she is someone this blog loves to hate.
TLP may be a choice shop for some of you but it's about #5 or 6 for me. Not only can I NEVER find something specific there when I'm looking for it, some of the CRAP is way overpriced. Their collabs are now on sale for 30% off making most of them cost over ten dollars. Sorry, I happen to own a couple of them and they aren't worth the ten bucks let alone the full price. I'd take SSD and P@CO ANY day over that place. I also like some of SO's designers.
Oh, excuse me. Are we not allowed to change our minds after we find out the truth about someone? __ That's not what I said, Lame Brain. You're obviously one of those catty idiots who changes around what someone says to fit your needs. Most of us learned that doesn't work at about oh..3 yoa..Anyway, what I SAID was that Kami gave you her side of a situation, meaning she personally confided in you and you came here and posted negatively about her on this blog. So..just so you don't misconstrue what I mean AGAIN I will be blunt. I think you're a two-faced asshole with lots of self-righteousness mixed in. No matter what Kami is or does, you, by your actions here, are certainly no better.
Your point, however, does say that you have a singular lack of imagination. ___ Your point, however does say that you make absolutely NO SENSE whatsoever. having a "singular lack of imagination" has nothing to do with anything that was previously posted. It's like you saw some words somewhere, thought they sounded intellectual, strung 'em together and posted this nonsensical bunch of meaningless gibberish.
um, because it's The Lily Pad. What designer wouldn't take that opportunity? That's a stupid question and the decision probably had very little to do with Kami. _ There are some who don't care that much for the Lily Pad.

«Oldest ‹Older 2201 – 2400 of 4015 Newer› Newest»Even if you don't have kids, aren't there other things to scrap other than yourself?
Oh yes, sorry, I see it at SSD a lot.
I don't understand Two Tiny Turtles on the CT at SSD. The newsletter this week has two of her layouts in it using the exact same template!
I don't understand Digilicious being on the SSD design team. Almost everything she's put out there so far is ugly.
re reusing a pic for CT LOs: I don't want my children's pics online.
Agree^^^

---
Yeah, well, you weren't very savvy as a designer then.
_______
exactly. If you're going to continuously scrap yourself, at least show some diversity and get that cell phone out more often!
Why would it bother you if people scrap only pictures of themselves? Not everyone is lucky enough to have/be able to have kids!
___
Yes, and there's NOTHING in this entire world to photograph except for oneself and children.

----------
Clearly not in my nature. I have quite honestly never done this. I don't associate the photo with the kit probably because I'm not buying the photo, just the kit.
Clearly not in my nature. I have quite honestly never done this. I don't associate the photo with the kit probably because I'm not buying the photo, just the kit.
___
Obviously, you're not buying the photo and I don't think anyone said or thinks that's the case but thanks for filling us in.
I don't even want to keep looking once I see that same stupid selfie on the page.
___
EXACTLY!
I've always thought that scrapping the same pictures over and over was a sign of being on too many teams.
There is a girl at Scrap Orchard that scraps picure after picture of her daughter cheerleading. If I was a designer, I'd say enough with the cheerleading pics already!
I've always thought that scrapping the same pictures over and over was a sign of being on too many teams.
---------------
..or having a broken camera!
I know a lot of designers take photography into consideration when choosing members.
I seriously just saw a Layout Judie Did at SSD and she just added a book to a selfie she's posted 5 thousand times!
___
I am SO tired of seeing the same types of "Judie" photos OVER and OVER!
Um, but we all know that they aren't always chosen based on skill, so why even bother to put them on a pedestal as a role model. That's just naïve.
sounds like sour grapes to me!
----
While I don't put ANY scrapper on a pedestal, I do,look at their work from time to time to see a kit in action. This is their purpose, to advertise the kit in its best way for the designer. If I can't stand looking at Carrie, in a car, any longer, than that's a problem, not only for me, but the designer as well. If you don't agree, cool. Lots do.
And how do you know "lots do" agree with you? You've taken a formal survey?
Here's one that agrees, and quite a few others on this blog agree as well. We're sick of Carrie's selfie in her car. And it's a smack blog, we're allowed to say so here whether you agree or not.
Nobody said that you couldn't say it. Just that you are judgmental for saying it. I don't care what other people scrap CT or not. I look at the layout to see the elements and papers, not the pictures. If the designer cares, then she can remove them from the team. Go ahead and smack away but don't expect to not have a discussion about your opinion. That's just immature.
We're on a smack blog, and you're surprised people are being judgmental? What the hell do you think a smack blog is for?
Where is the indication of surprise? It was just a statement.
Where is the indication of surprise? It was just a statement.

Cool. You've stated your statement plenty. There's several of us who disagree with you and we've stated ours. The problem is the labels you put on statements that don't agree with yours. You seemingly have nothing intelligent to contribute so you throw terms like "judgmental" and "immature" (I wonder if you know what either actually mean by the way you've used them.) out there without really saying anything else.

and right back at ya

44-46 - LOL! Totally agree with everything you've said. Poster 43 is a sanctimonious douche.
44-47=the same person. Lame.
There is talk on FB about a CT member who is scamming designers. Who is it?
Sorry, I am 47 but not 44-46. You're lame.

So you get to put a label on statements that don't agree with yours and it's ok? Calling someone a sanctimonious douche for saying you are being judgmental isn't doing the exact same thing?

Could you direct us to the FB discussion please?
Had to sign up for nini's newsletter in order to get her contribution. No thanks.
Have only downloaded the first few DSP kits so far, but they were really nice!
that the posters who disagree with you are immature
---
That's not what I said.
52-https://www.facebook.com/groups/Calls4CT/
Sometimes I think the Digichick entries are the only interesting ones. Everything else is flat and boring.
58# - if you like blurred and fuzzy. Not my thing.
The problem with only putting freebies in newsletters is that people don't always open newsletters, newsletters sometimes get lost in delivery or delivered into spam, etc. If you put all that time and effort into making something, I'd think you'd want people to actually receive it.
I'm annoyed with the newsletter subscriptions also. I prefer to keep all that stuff on my digi fb feed and not clutter my inbox. I just skipped those.
I thought most of the contributions were cute and downloaded more than I usually do on this type of event! I love this color scheme. Great job, DSP!
#58 Tried this: 52-https://www.facebook.com/groups/Calls4CT/
No luck. Curious.

___
Okay, I didn't call you that but...if the bag fits..
Go ahead and discuss. That's what we are here for.
___
I really, really appreciate having your permission to discuss. Thanks loads.
63- I second that well done to DSP, just got finished looking at what I d/l and very happy with the kit.
72-I think it would have been better if a few had checked their links to the next stop. Broken links are the pits.
63 and 72: and even better if you wouldn't have to sign up for newsletters just to get their part.
digi files Studio JMdesigns is featured today
wish they would go back to the paypal
this sucks!! I love Julia's kits I refuse to do the credit card monthly billing
a pain in the ass to cancel subscription, I think digi files is hurting themselves only going to CC/debit only
What do others feel about this payment method?
https://thedailydigi.com/julia-makotinsky-beach-sketchbook
It doesn't stay exclusive, does it? I wait for it to be released in the store. I pay more but I'm not locked in.
I was worried too but it was really easy to cancel my subscription. There's a button that you can just click unsubscribe. I unsubscribe as soon as I'm done downloading the month's files.
thanks #78
@ #61 - if you like blurred and fuzzy. Not my thing.
-----------
I noticed it too. Blurred and fuzzy seems to be the general trend at the digichick.
Creepy.

Ha! I like it.
Mye is going to MScraps.
Mye can't get into any other stores.
Mye can't get into any other stores.
___________
Because of gossip, innuendo and downright lies, that may be true. It's unfortunate because no one really knows the entire story.
Mye is going to MScraps.
__
Is she still keeping her own store?
The people involved know, and that's quite a few.
Mye can't get into any other stores.
_
That's unfortunate because she's really a good designer.
What's the story with Mye?
She allegedly pocketed all the money from the sales of her collabs and didn't share the wealth with her collaborators. This was while she was at P&CO. I'm not sure if the involved designers EVER got their money. I'm still wondering if this couldn't have been an honest mistake on her part with all she has going on.
The people involved know, and that's quite a few.
--
Do you think she honestly knowingly ripped these people off? She's not that stupid. She had to know she'd get caught and then what? Why would she take that chance? There's something very fishy about the entire mess.
her blog recently has spoken of depression - I wonder how much this had to do with it.
amanda yi at pixels and company? wow. P&C have lowered their standards too much imho.
People who make honest mistakes don't lie about them.
#93: What do you think is wrong with Amanda Yi's stuff and why do you think it doesn't fit in at P&Co?
I thought her (Amanda Yi) kits are cute. I especially liked her Stash elements, and I think her color palettes are eye catching. I think her kits fit in well at P&Co.
I love Amanda's things. Plus I like to buy things from people that are nice.
I also like Amanda's stuff - I think she's grown quite a bit since she started. And I think she will fit in at P&Co. I'm excited to see her there!
loving the TLP August daily freebies, being very impressed with quality/quantity from each designer. Also loving the colour palette. they really have stepped it up.
I like TLP collab so far too. Some of the designers have really gone all out and offered some great sales to coincide with their contributions.
I don't get why Tangie has such a huge following.
Is anyone keeping up with the challenges at SSD? I'm highly amused by the fact that no one seems to be following the rules very well and Robin and Libby keep having to remind people to read.
Isn't Tangie just reopening her own shop at her website like she used to have before joining SBG?
So this "big" thing SO posted about on Facebook...anyone know what it is?
to 105 - My guess is that they're having a site CT call

Very substandard diversion tactic. Let me rephrase for you. The op who said that "no one seems to be following the rules very well" and that "Robin and Libby have to keep reminding people to read" is lying out hers or his ass. Is that phrased better for you, Moron?
LOL @109, that's the correct age group.
Little Green Frog Designs It's time for me to retire
closing August 27
I hope Joy stays at TLP too- I never buy anything from her at SO. Even tho I always like her stuff- I just don't shop there- doubt anything "big" would change that. plus I like playing and posting at TLP much better- but I know TLP is really hard to get into.
oh! sad about LGF! I LOVE her templates!
Well, I'm getting quite frustrated. It seems like the only time TLPs designers are putting out quality kits is BYOC week. Okay, maybe except for Just Jaimee...she did release a Storyteller collection last week in addition to her BYOC kit the week before.
yah- i dont see that- i personally never like the byoc
I think Forever Joy's kit this week's cute.
So Scrap Nerds is finally open. It appears everything is a $1 this week. Some of it is actually decent.
I find their store difficult to navigate. I can't find a dollar sale. I don't think everything is on sale. ???
#118 you're high.
anyone know why Forever Joy's shoppe at SO is just closed? no sale- no notice- there has to be a story. inquiring minds...
121 - Darn! I hope it's just temporary (she said her products will be exclusive to TLP this month). I would like a sale and I have a couple of coupons I could use on her stuff at SO. She's the only one I still shop from there, so if she's moving I'm done with SO.
I dont think a shop is closed for temporary- the whole thing is gone- but there seems to be alot of stuff at TLP- I wonder what happened-
Kami and her psychotic "if you aren't loyal to us, then screw you" mentality. That's what happened.
exactly. which is why i can't blame any designer or ct for leaving there. she is her own worst enemy. scrap orchard will bite the dust eventually with that attitude. and i have no doubt a designer call will follow their bee call, since their designers are dropping like flies. you'd think they'd realize maybe it's their own fault.doh
WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
1 CT HEAD: paid position (small fixed fee per month + full access PU/CU)
2 Hybrid Artists/Blog writers (expert of CAMEO Silhouette)
2 Cardmakers/Blog writers
2 Challenge Coordinators (1 per Scrapbookbytes.com, 1 per The Studio)
4 CT members with Praiser roles.
16 new Creative Members
YOU CANNOT APPLY IF…
Designers, Cards Resellers, and all those who are involved in any scrap-related business activity, aren’t accepted as creative members and as part of the team in other special positions.
NEW FACES:
In this call we’re accepting only new members. Past members aren’t accepted on this turn. Thanks for understanding. References are welcome and they constitute a point in favor among candidates of the list.
IMPORTANT: STABILITY AND PROFESSIONALITY
I produce about 1 collection per week, my style is dynamic and I need very versatile people who are able to switch among different techniques! I won’t accept members who plan to stay only for a few months. Please consider to be part of the team at least for ONE ENTIRE YEAR. Members mus sign Contrats/Agreements.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS:
Full availability (mobile and full address are required)
Social Network Accounts are required (Facebook and Pinterest are mandatory)
Blog is required
Good knowledge of the English language
PLEASE fill up application here within August, 31 – 2014.
Due the huge amount of work, only accepted candidates will be contacted. Thanks for understanding.
With love,
Val.

speechless. she'd fit right in at scrap orchard with the other people (cough, kami) who think they are the shit.
confidence is good, but that is not confidence. that is arrogance in motion there
"someone to count on in every moment" = someone to create layouts at the last minute because i didn't have my sh*t together enough to get you things a few days ahead of time.
honestly, her post is too long.
And in her apply form she asks for whatsapp?
really? for a digiscrapbooking CT?
Goodness, you'd have to really, really, REALLY love her stuff to deal with all that nonsense. She comes off as very arrogant and....long winded in that post! It would be very interesting to know how many apply. Is that normal for a ct member to be required to sign a contract? If it is, how is it upheld?
mobile and full address required? Yeah, good luck with that. So many designers and CTs don't even live on the same continent!
How is her style dynamic? It hasn't changed in years!
^^^
I was thinking the same thing.
I've never even heard of her!
I think this is my favorite part:
You have to be a pirate to know what's on the pirate websites. I don't even know how to get to them.
You have to be a pirate to know what's on the pirate websites. I don't even know how to get to them.
---------------
So, following that thinking, you have to be a bitch to be posting on a smack blog.
Why is it her fault that stuff she made is on pirate sites?
-----
Who said it was her fault? The poster said if she took the time to research.

So, following that thinking, you have to be a bitch to be posting on a smack blog.
----
Yes. You are one too.
Just noticed that the Trixie Scraps shop at Ginger Scraps is empty. Did she finally retire?
She's still posting on her FB page and has her own shop.
I don't understand what everyone's beef is with Kami. I am guessing that the people complaining about her got personally burned by her somehow? Or is this all just word of mouth?
I personally contacted her recently about some things and she was nothing but nice and helpful to me.
Forever Joy closed at SO because she is going to be staying at TLP.
Yes. You are one too.
--------------
Never said I wasn't, did I?
133-she's someone that posters on this blog love to hate. I'm not sure how she got that reputation but it seems a lot of store owners have bad reps, so I think it's just smack. If someone decides to leave SO they'll always say it's because Kami's evil. When actually the designer probably just wanted to take a new opportunity.
^should be addressed to 153, not 133.
156 yes- I agree. I don't think there's always the drama people make out- sometimes designers just change shops for different opportunities. I dont think its always so personal. Bottom line is that they are selling something. I think SO products are a different style than TLP- a move may be based on that.
No, Kami really is that bad.
No, she really isn't.
159, how so? And why have so many stayed on for so long if that's the case?
So Thaty Borges is closing up shop at Sugarhill. I don't understand why she opened there, didn't add some of her better products from previous stores, but is now closing already. It seems she didn't even give it a chance. Too bad, I really like her stuff.
No, Kami really is that bad.
------------
No, she really isn't.
------------
YES. she really is. more than just a few have justifiable reason and it hasn't just come from the designers or CT themselves. i've personally heard kami's side of some of the issues, and yes, she is that bad.

And we believe you because you're to be sooooooo trusted.
As usual 163 lacks specifics making it nothing more than smack. I can make up that I talked to Kami and she was awful too.
No need to make anything up. It speaks for itself over and over again
How so? There are more designers that stay on long term than leave.
^^^
or childish knee-jerk reactions. i've seen it in action with her more than once
How about a real example if you've seen it?
So, every single designer that has ever left SO did it because of Kami's knee jerk reactions? The SSD call had absolutely nothing to do with it? Even if I was at a decent store like SO, I wouldn't pass on that gig if offered. Use some logic people.
I think some of you are overlooking the fact that Kami, like every single one of us, can be a mega bitch to some and super nice to others.
I'm not any of the people that have posted above, and yes Kami isn't someone I'd ever do business with again.
That's a stupid question and the decision probably had very little to do with Kami.
oh! you mean SO isn't the coveted spot? imagine that!
yes, and? So many other stores aren't either and their owners aren't getting smacked for designers leaving. It happens all the time. It's a common complaint in this industry.
oh! you mean SO isn't the coveted spot? imagine that!
----
I disagree! I would love a spot at SO!
The fact that the other owners AREN'T getting smacked when designers leave tells you everything you need to know. I'm not sure why you have such a hard-on for Kami/SO.
Kami is very cliquish. She is very controlling. She is sneaky and backstabbing. That's my experience, and by the number of people commenting here who feel the same, my experience is not a unique one.
no specifics. just generalizations. all that says is that someone has a grudge or sour grapes...
Or it says they have discretion. But, sure, go with the one that makes you feel better. Because all of these people must have a personal grudge or be envious of Kami.
no specifics. just generalizations. all that says is that someone has a grudge or sour grapes...
-------
Or perhaps a legitimate gripe. It seems to me that some of you wouldn't accept any specific reasons anyhow.
Your point, however, does say that you have a singular lack of imagination.
lack of imagination?
you are suggesting those of us who have not had bad encounters with Kami to make something up that didn't really happen?
interesting...
__
That's not what I said, Lame Brain.
___
Your point, however does say that you make absolutely NO SENSE whatsoever. having a "singular lack of imagination" has nothing to do with anything that was previously posted. It's like you saw some words somewhere, thought they sounded intellectual, strung 'em together and posted this nonsensical bunch of meaningless gibberish.
oh! you mean SO isn't the coveted spot? imagine that

it is to some.

There are some who don't care that much for the Lily Pad.
Especially with its new designers, SSD, by far is the best shop for versatility and even prices.
182-Because she wasn't a nice person to do business with when I was there. I've moved on now, and I'm much happier where I am now. I hope she is too.
lack of imagination?
you are suggesting those of us who have not had bad encounters with Kami to make something up that didn't really happen?

Where did I say that?

Sorry that you didn't get it but you did post some lovely meaningless gibberish.
TLP's invitation to their slow scrap on FB always cuts off on my phone to read "slow crap." LOL!
Sorry that you didn't get it but you did post some lovely meaningless gibberish.

The only thing "to get" is that your an idiot and, alas, I got that!!!!!
