Good for the Parade NSD Train. Whoever got this together, knows what they are doing. Good for them. Good for all of us who get a quality product for FREE!!! I will be downloading it and will enjoy and appreciate their hard work. I don't care what they call themselves, or where their stores are. It's free. And I agree that they are some of the top designers and shops out there. If you are in a shop and think it should be included, have your owner drop them a note. Has any other store even asked to be included, and been turned down? They cannot include everyone. It would take too long to get through the hop and that would leave no time for these customers to SHOP, which is the ultimate goal, right?
Anyone know anything about Scrapyrus from MScraps? She seems to have come out of nowhere, but I think her kits are really cute and she doesn't look like a beginner to me. Is the designer actually someone more well known and just designing under that name? --- You must be reading my mind. I thought the same thing. Really cute kits. Good luck to her. Very nice work.

ITA!! So far this is one of the most organized blog trains I've seen, and it hasn't even launched yet. Whoever thought of doing sneak peeks leading up to it is genius because if it's already made me go look at each of those shops out of curiosity about the designers that are included then I am sure I am not the only one. Besides look how much free publicity those shops and designers are getting even just right here on this blog as we all talk about it. I guess my point is that it's funny how all of the haters here are in reality helping the cause by giving it free publicity because they won't stop bitching about it.
"Based on the Parade previews, I won't be downloading. One of the previews prominently displays an item I know is CU because I have it... I was hoping for better." WTF??? You can use CU but no one else can?
Did you figure out who is running the train? If not, its jen balding and wishing well creations. Thats why tdc is in it.
^^^ This made me laugh out loud. I spent some time on all 5 sites the other night to see if they really *were* so much better than anywhere else, and the very first kits that literally made me wince because they were so bad were by Jen Balding.
2 - It's probably not the same person for one, but if people keep missing your point, you probably didn't make one. - I'll make one now-you're an idiot.
Did anyone listen to the DigiShow today? I'm curious about the $2 million copyright lawsuit Steph mentioned. Anyone have the inside scoop? _____
I was curious about that as well. Would love to know who brought the suit and over what. She said it was a freebie! _____
^^^^^ I didn't listen to it yet, so forgive me if this is way off-base. But is there any chance this has to do with Sahlin/Britt's Disney-silhouette freebie cards a few months ago? Remember the ones that had everyone here bitching for days? It is the first thing I thought of when I read "copyright lawsuit" and "freebie".

I do often like Wishing Well's stuff though. _____ Agree on both points. Jen Balding's kits are horrendous. But she seems to know what she is doing when it comes to promoting things because she's doing a great job w/ this blog train if the info posted above is true and it's really her running it. I'm impressed so far.
To all of the doubters who said that they didn't think that any of the "top" designers from each those 5 shops would really participate in the new train, I have it on good authority that almost every single designer at SSD has already turned theirs in.
I didn't listen to it yet, so forgive me if this is way off-base. But is there any chance this has to do with Sahlin/Britt's Disney-silhouette freebie cards a few months ago? Remember the ones that had everyone here bitching for days? It is the first thing I thought of when I read "copyright lawsuit" and "freebie".
---------------
Considering the freebies are still up on their blogs, I highly doubt it. I would think, if Disney brought a suit against them, they'd have the good sense to take the items down.
I thought about Sahlin/Britt and project mouse while listening to the Digi Show. They should probably listen to it because then they might figure out that those free journaling cards that they aren't benefiting from (because apparently giving something away for free to promote yourself doesn't count as a benefit) ARE considered a copyright violation. I'm still shocked at the stupidity of their argument.
I'm shocked, too. Those are two seasoned designers who are fully capable of reading copyright law - nowhere does it say it's OK to violate copyright if you don't make money from it ... nowhere does it say it's OK if you 'don't benefit from it.'
Sadly I've come to believe that Disney is intentionally turning a blind eye to all the copyright violation because what people are scrapping is their trips to Disneyland - and Disney benefits from that (not cash-wise, but there's a lot of free promotion by people sharing pages, gushing o forums about their trips begging for kits to scrap their trips, etc.) This doesn't make what Sahlin and Britt are doing right - not by a long shot - but I don't think they will get in trouble for it.
I see what she means I think there's a Miss Tiina pattern in the sneak peek 3. It isn't enough of a biggy to avoid downloading the whole train but that pattern is nothing special like you'd think the best designers would be putting out there especially since Miss Tiina gets smacked here a lot.
22 said - Considering I have never bought anything from SSD - I don't care. _____
That's great for you, but we don't care. I wasn't even the OP but you're missing the point of the post. Someone said a few days ago that they doubted that any of the top designers from any of those 5 stores would even participate in this Parade blog train thing. Then people started ranking the designer at each store so we could check once the blog train starts and see whether it's even the "good" designers or just the fringe. So the person reporting last night seemed to be saying that it's almost all of the designers from at least one of those shops. Do you get it yet?
I still don't care. SSD is not my cup of tea at all. I tried to like them - all the popular girls to it - but I just don't.
I even tried to play their Olympics and bought over $100 worth of stuff (because I had nothing from them and you had to use their things) and I tried scrapping with them and never finished the layouts - because the kits are just really boring.
Why do designers post global/public on FB that they have something for their ct to get in the forum? So annoying- either do a list or a private group.
There are a few guilty parties, but today I have officially unlined Jennifer labre. Annoying --------------------------------------
^ Yes! Totally annoys me and i see it all the time from quite a few different designers. Can someone tell me the thinking behind this? Is a public Facebook announcement really the best way to communicate with your ct? Try a message or a private group. Otherwise it sort of comes across like "I'm super cool and my super cool team gets to see and use my super cool products before the rest of you!" Save the posting for when the product is available for everyone.
33 if you're the same person who keeps posting about not liking SSD, you really are dense. Nobody is saying you have to like SSD. The point is directed toward PREVIOUS POSTERS who said they thought only the bottom-level designers from each shop will do the blog train. The person you keep replying to was trying to exhibit that it appears that ALL of the designers from some of those shops will participate.
Nobody said you have to like SSD. You don't. However, you do need to get your head out of your ass......
I am a designer that posts remarks to my CT that I have goods for them. This is not in any way to brag or show off to the world, but simply because I get the fastest response from Facebook when compared to email or just waiting for them to check the forum.
38 - Then make a free, easy, and private Facebook group. Notifications show up instantly and no one else needs to see it - or miss it. 20 people in a private FB group with bright red notifications on the side are more likely to see your note quickly opposed to the 100+ friends who are posting in those same 20 people's news feed.
Admit to yourself why you really post it for all to see and then do us all a favor and stop.
I have a designer who posts on her personal page and it's because she's a disorganized mess. She doesn't have a FB group and no one checks her forum because she has a new kit like 3 times a year. I'm not sure what some of the others excuses are.
37 I beg to differ that your head isn't in your ass. Anyone who spends $100 on digi products that they find to be "boring" just to try to make themselves like a site most definitely has their head lodged firmly up their own ass. There's no arguing it.
--- So who are your fave designers? You must keep them in business if you're willing to spend 100 bucks in a store you're just trying to like.
I'm 38 and all I have to say is "whatever". Someone asked why a designer would talk to her CT on her FB page, and well, convenience is my reason why. Done.
Now, I have to decide if I should worry about sensitive customers who will now not buy my things b/c I talk to my CT via my FB page. Thanks for that.
LOL the same people who said those 'top 5' stores would not miss me for no longer purchasing with them thanks to this 'Parade' are now calling me out for spending too much money.
I wanted to participate in the Olympics AND things were one sale AND I wanted to see what the fuss was about AND I have the disposable income.
People spend as much on their hair, nails, coffee addiction ... I spend it on scrapbooking.
I'm not actually going to tell you who I buy from as you'll just use it as fodder.
38/49- Yes. Please don't post to everyone when you only need your ct to see it. Create a private FB group (which unlike a profile, it will get the post to all not just a portion). If you insist on using your profile, create a list of your ct members. Then when you post, change from public to that list.
I don't care if you've dropped links in the forum. My designers aren't getting a hold of me that way- and I find it incredibly frustrating to be caught in the middle of what should be essentially a convo between you and your ct.
I think 50 is awesome. She tried something new. She didn't care for it, but she was open to doing something different. I admire that. She didn't try to cheapass her way, either. I admire that just as much.
52, if you don't like it when a designer posts to her CT on her personal profile, then unfriend her! Why should SHE change to accommodate YOU?
I can't stand people who think they are entitled to demand that other people change to suit their whims. Honestly, if you don't like it, you can make the choice to hide her posts or unfriend her. But, to demand she does things your way is just ridiculous.
#47- She said she had nothing from SSD at all. For the Olympics challenges you had to use SSD products, that's why she bought from SSD in the first place. She found the products boring and had a hard time using them.
LOL the same people who said those 'top 5' stores would not miss me for no longer purchasing with them thanks to this 'Parade' are now calling me out for spending too much money.

--
You're not "getting called out" for spending too much money; people are wondering why you'd spend that much money trying to like something when there's scads of other designers available. Something about all this doesn't ring true with me. I think you're lying.
#59- From what I read of her posts, she participated because she was trying to see what the fuss is all about because people rave about SSD all the time. She had no products from SSD and to play along she had to buy products and there was a sale. From what I read here, there are quite a few people who are not satisfied with SSD products once they download and unzip them. I highly doubt she will make that same mistake again. How doesn't that ring true with you? Do you think everyone wakes up and decides to like SSD without trying it out first? She tried and decided it wasn't for her. Nothing wrong with that.
Spending a hundred bucks at a store you're not fond of is lunacy and I don't believe for a second it's true. You can pontificate all you want about SSD this and SSD that but it has absolutely nothing to do with the specific store. It's the op who is questionable, not the store.
Where are you hoping to shop at for NSD? I am hoping for a TLP sale but I highly doubt it will be a good one. They are pretty cheap with their NSD sales.
There are a ton of designers who post on FB about new products up in the forum. It's very annoying. It's as annoying as the CT members who update about the amazing new kits they get to work with coming out soon.
I'm personally tired of people who think they know everything. Get over yourself --------------------------
I think you should take your own advice, sweetie. To you, and to 66, if you don't like what someone posts on Facebook, then unfriend them, unlike their page, and ignore their existence. THAT is the choice available to you. You don't get to dictate what is, and what is not, acceptable to post on someone's profile or page.
Sucks you babies can't have your own way all the time. Waaahh. Get over yourself.
There are a ton of designers who post on FB about new products up in the forum. It's very annoying. It's as annoying as the CT members who update about the amazing new kits they get to work with coming out soon. ---------
No, the CT members posting about the 'fabulousness' they are currently playing with are even more annoying.
Not 68 but I do believe the designer who asked if she should "worry" was being sarcastic. Also I'll read through your typo and assume you meant to type "misused" but I didn't see that designer cop to misusing facebook either. Those are your words. I think 68 is right that you don't really have the right to police what someone posts on their facebook. Who died and made you boss?
No the op either, but $100 isn't that much for my budget either. I may not drop that on a new store but over $50 isn't unheard of for me personally to spend in a store that I'm not familiar with either.
I think this whole uprising over a blog train is utterly ridiculous. "Best Shops" of course they are going to say they are the top shops and best designers. THAT'S ADVERTISING!
I don't see anyone bitching about any other company saying it's the best in their ads. Did you expect them to say, "oh we're mediocre designers handing out free stuff".
If you're jealous, then you need to get over yourself and work harder or start your own blog train. It's not like this is the first of it's kind nor will it be the last.
I'm not affiliated with any of the stores, but I plan on downloading. I love the palette, I think it's a great idea and I'm laughing at all you "ladies" with your knickers in a twist over something as trivial as a blog train all because you weren't invited.
Sorry you didn't learn this earlier, but life isn't fair, get over it.
Anyone else seen the fundraising campaign for Tangie Baxter's art studio "dream"??? (it was in the Daily Digi latest e-mail) What do you think?
I am truly appalled that anyone thinks it's OK to ask for handouts to start a business. SERIOUSLY? If you can't make a business work without donations, maybe that business is not such a great idea. There are people homeless and starving, and THIS is where I should donate money? Seriously??
#72- $100 isn't alot of money to spend when there is a SALE! I am sure she isn't the only one to take advantage of a decent sale and spend money. I'm pretty sure people will try out stores or designers they haven't heard of on NSD because of the sales. The OP is getting ripped apart because she doesn't like SSD and decided the products aren't for her.
71 no one is trying to police anyone. We are simply stating this particular type of Facebook post is annoying to us, and why it annoys us, and we think there's a better way to communicate with your ct. Obviously we know we can defined, we get that it's not our choice what anyone posts on their page. - did you forget this is a smack blog? It's where we can talk about what's annoying, and clearly quite a few of us agree about this one.
74 - I think, like everything else, if you don't like it, don't donate. Some people believe in supporting the arts and like her work or not, Tangie is an artist. She's offering items in return for the donation, so it's not technically a donation.
The homeless? really? Come on. Do you donate every single $1 you have to the homeless? The self righteous are out in full force on this blog lately.
73 - I agree 100%. Anyone ever seen a "World's Best Coffee" sign? Calling something the best is completely, 100% subjective - whether it's you calling it the best or someone else calling it the best or people calling themselves the best. I don't normally call sour grapes, but with this blog train, it really does seem like it.
I'm sure every single one of us (at least I hope so) think we're good at something, maybe even the best we know. You're entitled to your opinion, but so are these stores and their designers.
75 - The reason someone thinks it's "lunacy" is because it's a lot of money to them to spend on designers you're not sure you like.
Everyone spends money on designers they're unfamiliar with. That's kinda how you find designers you like (or don't like).
For some $100 isn't a lot to spend to find out and to some it is. Unless you're trying to tell me the point was that it's lunacy to try new designers at all...
#74 and #78. Yes, ITA. If I'm going to give money for someone's "dream" it will be my own, or my children, or spouse, or family-member. Or some charitable organization who give an accounting of where every dime goes and have regular external audits, or meet "tax-deductible" standards, so I know that there is some kind of accountability as to where that money goes. Not just anyone with their hand out.
I have a dream or two of my own. Maybe I'll start a fundraising campaign and ask strangers and acquaintances for money towards it.
NOT.
Perhaps what she should be looking for is a BUSINESS LOAN.
#81- So are you denying some designers don't have big ego's? I'm not asking anyone to care what I think, I'm just stating an opinion. I just think this blog train will make them that much worse to deal with.
#80- I think it's lunacy to buy from quite a few designers but it's not my place to tell them who they can and can't buy from or how much they are allowed to spend.
I admire Tangie for giving valuable items to people who fund her instead of going into debt. You may not see the value, but many people do.
I think she's offering a fair amount for the level of contribution, so it's just a business transaction in my eyes, not a donation. She's certainly not sitting there with her hand out expecting money without giving anything to the people funding her.
I think that box of Girl Scout cookies is expensive, too, and I can buy 3 boxes of fake samoas from Keebler for the price of one box the Girl Scouts sell me, but I buy it and even give more because I like the organization.
Personally, I wont be funding Tangie because it's not my thing, but I don't think what she's doing is asking for a handout or ridiculous. I think the fact I pay $10 for a box of cookies is way more ridiculous, but I do it anyway.
If you honestly think all those legit, non-profits are less corrupt than an individual artist, you really need to stop drinking whatever koolaid you've been drinking.
83 - No. I'm saying I don't concern myself with what others think of themselves.
I think expressing your opinion to generate a response and/or support registers pretty high on the ego chart, too, but I'm not going to tell you to stop expressing it out of risk your ego will just get bigger.
85 - Where do you live? Girl Scout Cookies are only $4 here. Not that that was your point or anything. hehe
Can we get off the "big egos", you're starting to sound like bratty children angry because you didn't get an invite to someone else's party. Acting like you should have been invited sounds like a pretty big ego to me. If you can't make it on your own merit maybe you need to work on your design skills. Just sayin
I also saw the email about Tangie's dream. I think she is totally entitled to have a dream and work toward it. However, I am not too keen on the way this is done. I also have a dream of selling in a "big" store. I have a dream of reaching an income level from my designing to replace my current job. But although I might sell some products and collect the income to reach my dream (more or less like she does), I don't think it sounds very professional to state "I need money to fulfill my dream; please buy this". To me, if someone has a dream (in this business or something related), I would say "work at it". Period. Working hard at something is fine and we see lots of designers do that. Working hard and telling everyone how hard they are working AND asking every stranger to help them sounds almost desparate. And Tangie is not just asking herself, she gets others to ask for her. Not impressed.
It was bad enough when it came from Maya. If I get a copy of that begging from every entity in scrapbooking I'm really going to be irritated. - Oh my, we can't have you irritated!
You have a choice to donate to Tangie. Or the homeless. Or just you. I think it's pretty cool her dream will help others realize theirs. There is some kickass art in the world, it all had to start somewhere.
When I was reading the complaints about Tangie, I thought "hey, that sounds like a kick starter!" and sure enough, it's a kick starter. Tons of businesses and inventors do this now, it's a great way to raise cash or show there's an interest in your type of business before you take it to get a loan. The actors from Veronica Mars just did a kickstarter for their movie and the people who did the Lizzie Bennet Diaries just did one to help fund DVD's. It's a pretty common thing now.
Sorry for the kick starter PSA, lol. I'm not donating, but if I lived locally to her, I would really be excited about it!
Oh please, 91, certainly you can see how this would be irritating?
I had no idea Maya was proselytizing for Tangie too. Did she do that in a SBG newsletter? (if so, one more reason I'm glad I unsubscribed long ago) I would be well beyond irritated if I was designing in a shop and the owner did that with the shop newsletter, I'd be pissed!
I'm the OP on spending $100 at SSD. If you are questioning it, perhaps you didn't look at the contest - it was multiple events, one of which was actually 4 layouts shrunk down and turned into 1 layout - and they had to be done with SSD products.
I wanted to do the contest (if I remember correctly it wasn't that long after some other contest I had done, and I had noticed that I was scrapping more and wanted to continue the momentum with another contest). I actually heard about the scrapping Olympics event on the smack blog (the old one I think) so I went to check it out. I had never shopped at SSD before, and there's certainly a lot of controversy about them, so I thought I'd give it a shot.
Some people were doing the contest with the store freebies, but I didn't like any of them, so I spent a bunch of time find photos that would match certain kits and match the themes of the challenges. And then I spent a bunch of money.
And then I started scrapping and lots all that momentum I was hoping to capitalize on. I did not like the kits. I did not end up participating in the event at all and I have never finished the layouts.
I'm not sure why that is so hard to believe?
I am also not sure why that makes me a bitch.
As for who I bought from: Misty Cato, Erica Zane, some sets that are not quite like store collabs but you got a bunch of minis from different designers (I forget what they were called) ... that's all I remember ... I moved a bunch to my EHD where it rests in oblivion.
93, I didn't see the newsletter but when I read 74's comment about being "appalled" that someone would ask for a "handout," I thought to myself, "People do that all the time, and the internet has made it easier--like Kickstarter." What the hell do banks do all day? They listen to regular folk talk up their dream and then ask for other people's money (cuz the bank doesn't "own" that money. They get it from customers) to fund it. Tracie probably figured "Why go through a bank when I've already got loads of DS people I can hit up for cash?" Good for her. But I agree that she should stick to her OWN newsletter. Why the hell would someone else advertize for her? I'd unsub from any newsletter that focused on anything other than its intended store/designer. To me, that's spam. But all that said, Tangie, if you're reading this: Good for you! I hope you get to open your studio. I'm not donating any money (nothing personal...I just don't have any to give), but good luck to you. I hope you're also asking for local donations since this will benefit those in your area.
Erica Zane and Misty Cato are not the best designers at SSD. Ju Kniepp, Jennifer Barrett and some KCB are the very best by far, IMO. Shawna Clingerman is really coming into her own and does some nice stuff as well.
IMO, EZ, Ru from Studio Basic and Melissa Bennett are the worst.
Ju Kneipp may be one of the best designers at SSD, when it comes to customer service she is bad! A week ago I send her an email + a Facebook message, both not snarky at all, about a coupon not working and I am still waiting for an answer.
This one time, Jasmin-Olya Designs offered a comp on her fan page and only a handful of people entered so she changed the ending date. Only a few more entered so she changed it again and said you had to share the post. Then the post got buried and the prizewinner was never announced.
I guess to each their own would apply here, but I don't agree with putting Jennifer Barrett on the best list at SSD. For me, her color combinations often border on hideous and the couple things I have from her have issues with blurry items or textures. I see people rave about her work (usually here), but it's lost on me. KCB, Shawna and Zoe are my favorite SSD designers.
SSD is having a babe call. The anticipation thread has begun. There are some good scrappers in there, but there are some really shitty ones, too.
I don't get how that Trish girl makes any teams at all because her pages are awful and Tanyia who drops all her CTs every 3 months because she's spending less time on the computer and be healthier, only to be on even more CTs 2 weeks later. That's been her pattern for a long time, at least a year or more.
Designers - could you enlighten us as to why you pick people like this for your teams?
I'm a designer and I wouldn't take either one of those scrappers. Trish's pages are mediocre at best and her personality is trashy. Tanyia is a decent scrapper, but her "get on a team only to drop then reappear on other teams a week later" reputation is well-known in my friend circle. None of us would take her.
If I apply and make it as a Babe and so does Trish, I would seriously consider stepping down. It's bad enough seeing her whine in the public forums, I don't want to listen to that shit behind the scenes, too.
I don't get how that Trish girl makes any teams at all because her pages are awful -- THANK YOU! I thought I was the only person on the planet who thinks this lady's work truly sucks. I think it looks horrible 90% of the time. On top of that, I believe she thinks she's really, really great at it.
SSD is having a babe call. The anticipation thread has begun. There are some good scrappers in there, but there are some really shitty ones, too. - Question: Several of the people applying to be a babe already ct for a good portion of SSD designers. What is the point of becoming a babe in that case? Just more free kits?
I don't get how that Trish girl makes any teams at all - She's one of the biggest ass kissers you'll ever want to meet-that's probably why she's on at least a portion of the teams she's on.
Laura at SSD, who is a "babe", does very mediocre work as well. Sometimes her posts talking about her style and the "scrapping funk" she's in are annoying given her pages are just average at best..ever.
#111- Yes, but someone will say that the designer's picked their own team members or some other complaint when the new Babes get announced. Happens every time.
Laura is very active in the forum though. - Yeah, not saying she isn't. I'm just saying most of her work looks like a beginner did it; not only is her scrapping average, at best, but her photos are consistently very poor.
It sounds like on the thread that you'll have to choose your 9 best layouts - Some of the entrants will have a really tough time finding nine layouts that are decent.
When I was reading the complaints about Tangie, I thought "hey, that sounds like a kick starter!" and sure enough, it's a kick starter. Tons of businesses and inventors do this now, it's a great way to raise cash or show there's an interest in your type of business before you take it to get a loan. ------------
Yep, but some just want to get their knickers in a twist because that's they way they are.
I cannot find the anticipation thread - can someone post a link? -- It's the one entitled Surely I'm Not the Only One by MommaTrish the whiny subpar scrapper
Not #125, but she's on a bunch of SSD teams already, including Traci Reed, so I can't see why she wouldn't make it. Although, she keeps saying she's applied before and not been picked, so I don't know what the story is there. And she used to be a Polly too. I wonder what happened there.
I don't think she's nearly as good as she thinks she is, her photo editing makes me cringe! But she's not as bad as some other people. She's better than that Carrie everyone was talking about last week. Taniya's one that constantly uses a template and has severe element vomit. I really dislike her pages.
#125- Whining aside, do you think she will get a spot? - She probably has a good chance and that's too bad cuz she sucks at scrapping AND she's annoying. Carrie sucks too, however, I think Trish is just as bad or worse. Taniya is okay; You either like her style or you don't. At least SHE has a style. Trish did a number several days ago with triangles, etc. and it should be illegal to post something that awful on the internet. Yes, it was THAT bad.
Re: Trish - They'd be stupid to. She's on and off CTs. She used to design then quit, then she designed again, then quit. She never sticks with anything for longer than 2 sec.
No, this has nothing to do with color combos from a kit. Her photo processing and scrapping skills are NOT GOOD. Further, she obviously thinks she IS good which is really annoying. How she got on any ct is beyond me. Go look at her SSD Gallery. It's, with the exception of a very few, absolutely terrible.
I've never seen Trish whine. Where does she do all this whining? - Do you expect people to go dig up copies of posts? Go read the forums she's regularly on if you want to know.
#111- Yes, but someone will say that the designer's picked their own team members or some other complaint when the new Babes get announced. Happens every time. - As long as they pick someone who meets their own supposed criteria (decent photos and scrapping skills), then people have no right to bitch. Picking a "babe" because they're active on a forum and for no other reason is bad..real bad.
Picking a "babe" because they're active on a forum and for no other reason is bad..real bad. ----------
Why? As a designer, I'd rather have someone with good skills who is active in the forums, than someone who has excellent skills and doesn't do anything. The active person is going to promote me, while the inactive one isn't doing much at all.
I just looked at her gallery to see what you guys are griping about. I don't think I flat out don't like her pages but they are definitely not my scrapping style and maybe that is what it is. I don't know. I have seen much worse but I am not a fan either.
I like her layouts but I don't really like her as a person. #145- I've seen much worse too. I think it has to do with all the different styles that people do. Some you like and some you just don't.

Well, I guess it depends upon priority and pride. If I was a designer and some active soul on the forum made my kits look like crap because she can't scrap, then I wouldn't like it. You, on the other hand, obviously don't care.
I like her layouts but I don't really like her as a person. #145- I've seen much worse too. I think it has to do with all the different styles that people do. Some you like and some you just don't. -- I've seen worse too. That doesn't mean her stuff is good because it isn't by a long shot. That's great you like her layouts. I think they are awful.
#137- They are known to pick people that lack in the layout department but are active in the forums. -- No kidding. That's why they shouldn't give the qualifications as they do. They should just say people must kiss ass and post frequently on the forum.

Whatever. She's not that bad, not my style, but not bad. She's far from crap.
I can't believe we are having the exact same discussion about the Sugar Babes. Nothing changes, except the names and even then, some of those don't change.

Whatever. She's not that bad, not my style, but not bad. She's far from crap. ----------- Whatever right back at ya. That's your opinion. Her work is awful and her personality runs a close second. That's my opinion which matters about as much as yours does.
Well, I guess it depends upon priority and pride. If I was a designer and some active soul on the forum made my kits look like crap because she can't scrap, then I wouldn't like it. ---------------
I think the Sugar Babes are a regular topic of conversation because while probably most of them are great, there's a few that defy description. It's a mystery why they are there.
It's also sickening the way lots of the candidates grovel and kiss ass. I'd quit scrapping before I acted like that. No "gig" would be worth all that.

I cant stand Trish's signature, its disgusting , looks like scribble and it covers the designers she CT's for. Not a good sign, your meant to enhance and advertise our designers.
If you are going to attempt sarcasm, you might want to use spell check. _______________
If you are going to attempt being a smart ass, you might want to learn the difference between a grammatical error and a typo. I'll give you a clue, one is picked up by spell check and the other one isn't.
I have to say, some of y'all are really mean, just for the fun of it. I don't know anything about this Trish person, so maybe she has earned the shade being thrown at her right now. But, not all her layouts suck. I found some in her gallery that I liked.
But, the interesting thing to me is that whenever I found one I didn't care for, it used either Traci's, Jenn Barrett's or Krystal Hartley's kits. Maybe that says more about their kits than it does her layouts. Also, it's probably because everyone likes a different style and I happen to not like that style. Still, she is not as awful a scrapbooker as she's been made out to be here.
169 - Maybe if ALL of the CT pages were ugly, I would agree with you on the kit. That's far from the case.
Trish is a major bitch and I'm guessing she's bitched at quite a few people to have the response about her on this blog. Her pages are average at best and average scrappers are a dime a dozen. As a shopper, I want to see CT pages that show me more of a kit, not how well some CTM wipes a designers ass.
"...As a designer, I'd rather have someone with good skills who is active in the forums, than someone who has excellent skills and doesn't do anything. The active person is going to promote me, while the inactive one isn't doing much at all."
I recently bought two kits that I had looked at and passed on, because I then saw two great pages in galleries. At least one was by a CT member, I don't know about the other. I don't hang out in forums, so participation there is irrelevant to me.
I don't see how Trish's pages are a 'style' that people don't like ... they are paper style, done very poorly. They all just look really messy, with no focus or balance.
I am looking forward to NSD but I don't plan on spending as much as I usually do. In reality I have more than enough stash to last me the rest of my life. So, what I do buy will have to be something I REALLY like.
I recently bought two kits that I had looked at and passed on, because I then saw two great pages in galleries. At least one was by a CT member, I don't know about the other. I don't hang out in forums, so participation there is irrelevant to me.
You might want to rethink your position. --------
You are not the only kind of customer there is. Lots of customers do hang in the forums. I do what works for me and my position works just fine.
179 - Perhaps there are one or two stores where forum activity matters. I can't think of any that are mentioned here regularly, but I'm sure one or two exist somewhere.
What matters to 99.9% of the other stores and designers out there are layouts. Layouts made before release day and layouts made with any of your products at any time to keep your designer gallery fresh with your name in the credits. You always want people working with your products all the time.
While your standards may work for you, it's bad business advice in the current market. 7 years ago when forums were all the rage, of course forum activity mattered. These days of Facebook and Pinterest, what matters are scrappers getting your products in front of their friends' faces.
Nowhere did I say that I only had CT that were elusive in the forums; so my supposed 'standards' are not bad business at all. What a lot of assuming people do.
I counted 4 designers that left DSP. I had no idea how many left but it sure shook up that community. They don't have a huge list of designers like some other stores do. did anyone ever find out what the deal was behind Margie leaving & Amanda taking charge again?
It was in the forums. Margie bought the site from Amanda in 2009 but due to unforeseen circumstances, that I'm not aware of, she couldn't finalize the purchase. Must have been some kind of payment plan or something.
As a shopper, I want to see CT pages that show me more of a kit, not how well some CTM wipes a designers ass. -- I agree. I don't care how much the designer likes the ct member or how active a member is on some forum. I want to see quality pages done with the kit.
You are not the only kind of customer there is. Lots of customers do hang in the forums. I do what works for me and my position works just fine. -- Unfortunately, if you're referring to SSD, the majority of women who hang out on that forum get the lion's share of their kits (if not all) free so participation on the forum really is for naught. As a customer who has neither the desire nor stomach to be on a ct, I don't give a rat's ass who is active on the store forum..or who is friendliest..or whatever. I want to see the kit scrapped by someone competent. Too often, that's hard to find. Maybe you designers should revisit your choices.
I prefer a decent preview of the kit and its contents. I don't care about the CT layouts at all. I see far too many CT layouts that use elements that are not in the kit they are showcasing. What's the point in that.
I don't see how Trish's pages are a 'style' that people don't like ... they are paper style, done very poorly. They all just look really messy, with no focus or balance. - EXACTLY!
I see far too many CT layouts that use elements that are not in the kit they are showcasing. What's the point in that. - Agreed. I'm getting more and more where I don't even look at the galleries because of just that OR the layouts look like my five-year-old did 'em. You know, the messy, chaotic, piss-poor photo editing, STYLE lots of us don't like.
But, the interesting thing to me is that whenever I found one I didn't care for, it used either Traci's, Jenn Barrett's or Krystal Hartley's kits. - The only thing the designer should be blamed for is choosing her in the first place to ct.
Why? If it works, and works well, why change it? - How do you know it couldn't work better? As a business person, you should constantly be looking at different ways to sell your product. Saying this works, not going to try anything else is pretty restrictive and close-minded. You'd think you'd want to hear from customers. It doesn't mean you have to change anything but being defensive about it is juvenile.
Sigh, once again I will point out that I never once said I had CTMs that were exclusively active in the forums. I have some that don't jack shit in the forums but post great layouts.
I do want to hear from customers, but not anonymous ones. If a customer has anything worthwhile to say, the will contact me and I will listen.
I also never oce sia that I don't try new things.
I'm slightly defensive because I'm tired of a bunch of people telling me what I SHOULD be doing, not suggesting, but telling me this is what I SHOULD be doing. Those same people also seem to think they are completely right, which is pretty close minded and restrictive. You are not the only kind of customer there is.
I'm tired and bored of this conversation. ----------- Well, pardon us. Go design then. My luck I buy from you and I really, really don't want to since you're an arrogant ass.
The only thing the designer should be blamed for is choosing her in the first place to ct. Apr 29, 2013, 6:38:00 PM ------------ I think you said this because you are a fan of one (or all) of those three designers. I have seen plenty a designer be ripped apart when her CT layouts suck because her kits suck to begin with.
Let's be all for smack equality, huh? Sorry, but I think the kits suck and that is part of the reason the resulting layouts suck. Horrid color schemes, messy doodles, ink splotches and chaotic crap in kits leads to messy, chaotic crappy pages. Simple as that.

---
You must be reading my mind. I thought the same thing. Really cute kits. Good luck to her. Very nice work.
I don't "get it", but am okay with that.

Did anyone ever figure out which designers are actually doing this blog train?
"Based on the Parade previews, I won't be downloading. One of the previews prominently displays an item I know is CU because I have it... I was hoping for better."
WTF??? You can use CU but no one else can?
Seconding (thirding?) about Scrapyrus as well. Love the colors of her kits.
Did anyone listen to the DigiShow today? I'm curious about the $2 million copyright lawsuit Steph mentioned. Anyone have the inside scoop?
^ ^ ^
Wonder if that has anything to do with that post over on WLS's blog...
I was curious about that as well. Would love to know who brought the suit and over what. She said it was a freebie!
So, 176, you won't be downloading anything?
^^^
Nope. Not a thing.
Did you figure out who is running the train? If not, its jen balding and wishing well creations. Thats why tdc is in it.
^^^
This made me laugh out loud. I spent some time on all 5 sites the other night to see if they really *were* so much better than anywhere else, and the very first kits that literally made me wince because they were so bad were by Jen Balding.
I do often like Wishing Well's stuff though.
"post over on WLS's blog"
What does WLS stand for? Thanks in advance :)

Agree on both points.
Considering I have never bought anything from SSD - I don't care.

---------------
Considering the freebies are still up on their blogs, I highly doubt it. I would think, if Disney brought a suit against them, they'd have the good sense to take the items down.
It was a store owner that got sued for a freebie that was handed out via their store, if I understood correctly.
Why does it seem like mommyish and just jaimw follow each other every where?
^^
lol, I was just thinking the same thing! But I like them both, so I'm glad they're at a store I like now.
How does someone that has quality like this designer at TLD?

Annoying
--------------------------------------
^
Yes!
My guess is designers think it will build interest in what is coming ... like a pre-sneak peak announcement. I hate it, too.
My head is not in my ass, and you sound like you need a nap. I got the point, I was making a side comment.
Here - let me break it down for you since you seem to be easily confused:
PERSON A: 'I don't think the top designers will even participate'
PERSON B: 'I have it on good authority that you are wrong, at least for SSD'
PERSON C: 'That my be true, but I am still not inspired by this blog train because I don't like those designers.'
12 - I don't see anything on WLS' blog besides new releases. What did it say?
#40
Scroll down, it's there.
40. Here. http://withlovestudio.net/blog/category/news/
#38, I call BS. You're doing it to show off, and as a customer I find it extremely obnoxious and it turns me off of your products.
42 - Thank you. I didn't go back far enough.
---
So who are your fave designers? You must keep them in business if you're willing to spend 100 bucks in a store you're just trying to like.
Hafta agree w/ 46 on this one. Head, ass. I've never heard of anyone buying digi stuff just to try to make herself like it.
I'm curious too, who are the designers you like to buy from?
Now it's official, I think 50 is a bitch.
38/49-
Yes.
Now, I have to decide if I should worry about sensitive customers who will now not buy my things b/c I talk to my CT via my FB page. Thanks for that.
^
you shoudl have been worrying about that all along.
#50- Who did you buy from at SSD?
By the way, you're not the only one who finds the products at SSD dull and boring.
Okay, where is the link to this elite and awesome blog train?

Fodder?
Spending a hundred bucks at a store you're not fond of is lunacy and I don't believe for a second it's true. You can pontificate all you want about SSD this and SSD that but it has absolutely nothing to do with the specific store. It's the op who is questionable, not the store.
#62- It's her choice to make not yours.
Where are you hoping to shop at for NSD?
I am hoping for a TLP sale but I highly doubt it will be a good one. They are pretty cheap with their NSD sales.
55- I'm not complaining about personal profile itself. There are designers who treat their business page the same as their personal page.
If you're using your page for business and your customers,
Then don't use it for ct crap.
I'm personally tired of people who think they know everything. Get over yourself
There are a ton of designers who post on FB about new products up in the forum. It's very annoying. It's as annoying as the CT members who update about the amazing new kits they get to work with coming out soon.
#49, you definitely should. All designers that do that should. Everytime I see that I cringe. I'm a customer. It seems just so rude to me.
I'm personally tired of people who think they know everything. Get over yourself
--------------------------
I think you should take your own advice, sweetie.
No, we are over ourselves. And yes, we the collective have unlinked and defriended designers.
I liked those pages bc I liked those designers. Now I don't- and will find somewhere else to shop
The question was asked by a designer if they should worry about how they've mid/used FB. Clearly the overwhelming answer is yes.
So 68- I'll be a little blunter. This is about you and your off base opinion. Get the eff of yourself and shut the eff up
There are a ton of designers who post on FB about new products up in the forum.
I'm not the OP, but $100 isn't a lot of money to some people. To some, it's the same as you spending $10. I don't think $100 is a lot of money at all.
#74- Why would I send her money to start her "dream". I got dreams of my own.
#77- Some designers already have huge ego's. A blog train like this where it is elite is just going to make those ego's so much bigger.
78 - Then don't send her any money. No one achieves their dreams alone.
79 - Who gave you the gauge on how big an ego should be? How would you like it if people kept saying you were too fat (true or not)?
Just sayin
Pretty sure the nice designers will still be nice and the egotistic ones will still think they are all that.
It was bad enough when it came from Maya. If I get a copy of that begging from every entity in scrapbooking I'm really going to be irritated.
-
Oh my, we can't have you irritated!
That would highly irritate me too! I'd go thru Robin at SSD if she didn't answer me in a day or two. There's no excuse for that.

I don't get the newsletter, apparently, are they doing that stupid nomination thing again this time?
It sounds like on the thread that you'll have to choose your 9 best layouts and create one 900x900 graphic to showcase
no nominations this time
What are the requirements for being a babe? Do I have to leave my other CTs?
I don't get how that Trish girl makes any teams at all because her pages are awful
--
THANK YOU!

Question: Several of the people applying to be a babe already ct for a good portion of SSD designers. What is the point of becoming a babe in that case? Just more free kits?

At least this way, it's a bit less like a popularity contest in high school.
I don't get how that Trish girl makes any teams at all
-
She's one of the biggest ass kissers you'll ever want to meet-that's probably why she's on at least a portion of the teams she's on.
#108, that's a good question.
Laura at SSD, who is a "babe", does very mediocre work as well. Sometimes her posts talking about her style and the "scrapping funk" she's in are annoying given her pages are just average at best..ever.
Laura is very active in the forum though.
#111- Yes, but someone will say that the designer's picked their own team members or some other complaint when the new Babes get announced. Happens every time.
Laura is very active in the forum though.
-
Yeah, not saying she isn't. I'm just saying most of her work looks like a beginner did it; not only is her scrapping average, at best, but her photos are consistently very poor.
It sounds like on the thread that you'll have to choose your 9 best layouts
-
Some of the entrants will have a really tough time finding nine layouts that are decent.
wonder if you're the same person who CONSTANTLY just doesn't seem to get it?
--------
How do you know it's the same person? Seems rather ridiculous to assume that it is.
Whoever thought of doing sneak peeks leading up to it is genius
----------
Agreed because at least I know it's something I can miss out on.
Although, I have to point out that doing sneak peaks for a blog train is not a new idea, it's been done before.
How does someone that has quality like this designer at TLD?
From the Jump For Joy FB Hop:
http://i43.tinypic.com/10rvbdw.jpg
(Designer= Amy Martin)
----------
Her quality has always been questionable but she started and owned TLP for many years, that's why she is there.
Anyone else seen the fundraising campaign for Tangie Baxter's art studio "dream"??? (it was in the Daily Digi latest e-mail) What do you think?
I am truly appalled that anyone thinks it's OK to ask for handouts to start a business.
----------
She's not asking for handouts you twat. It's a pledge and you get things in return for your money. How is that a handout? Oh, it isn't.
I cannot find the anticipation thread - can someone post a link?

Why? It wouldn't bother me in the least.
#125- Whining aside, do you think she will get a spot?
-
She probably has a good chance and that's too bad cuz she sucks at scrapping AND she's annoying.
I don't get how that Trish girl makes any teams at all
-
I'd like to see the nine layouts she picks.
Re: Trish - They'd be stupid to. She's on and off CTs. She used to design then quit, then she designed again, then quit. She never sticks with anything for longer than 2 sec.
I've never seen Trish whine. Where does she do all this whining?
#129- If it was the colors, Trish uses alot of Traci Reed's products. Traci has terrible color combos.
-
Do you expect people to go dig up copies of posts? Go read the forums she's regularly on if you want to know.
Do you guys just hang around SSD all day so you can come here and bitch and moan about it?
#111- Yes, but someone will say that the designer's picked their own team members or some other complaint when the new Babes get announced. Happens every time.
-
As long as they pick someone who meets their own supposed criteria (decent photos and scrapping skills), then people have no right to bitch. Picking a "babe" because they're active on a forum and for no other reason is bad..real bad.
Do you guys just hang around SSD all day so you can come here and bitch and moan about it?

Do you just hang around here to ask stupid questions?

So you do? Thought so.
#136- Hi Trish!
#137- They are known to pick people that lack in the layout department but are active in the forums.
#136- Hi Trish!
----
Not Trish. Geez. Think before you speak.
Is this Trish's username 'Trish' or something else? Now I want to go look at her gallery.
#144- MommaTrish is her name.

Well, I guess it depends upon priority and pride. If I was a designer and some active soul on the forum made my kits look like crap because she can't scrap, then I wouldn't like it. You, on the other hand, obviously don't care.

No kidding.

Careful you don't fall of your horse.

That's an intelligent response.
I cant stand Trish's signature, its disgusting , looks like scribble and it covers the designers she CT's for. Not a good sign, your meant to enhance and advertise our designers.
#159- Maybe one of her kids made it for her?
This blog is just like the movie Goundhog Day. Same repeating storyline over and over and over.
Im more interested in who makes the sahlin studio call.
Did anyone here apply to the SS call?

Looks like the designers who left DSP have started a new store.

I recently bought two kits that I had looked at and passed on, because I then saw two great pages in galleries. At least one was by a CT member, I don't know about the other. I don't hang out in forums, so participation there is irrelevant to me.
You might want to rethink your position.
NSD is around the corner. Don't we have anything else to talk about than the babe call and SSD?
DSA is not opening their store anymore.
^^^^ This is me also - I have so many digi kits that I really don't NEED anything unless it's something that blows me away.
Since when is any hobby about only having what you "need"?
173, how do you know that about DSA?

What matters to 99.9% of the other stores and designers out there are layouts. Layouts made before release day and layouts made with any of your products at any time to keep your designer gallery fresh with your name in the credits. You always want people working with your products all the time.
While your standards may work for you, it's bad business advice in the current market. 7 years ago when forums were all the rage, of course forum activity mattered. These days of Facebook and Pinterest, what matters are scrappers getting your products in front of their friends' faces.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Nowhere did I say that I only had CT that were elusive in the forums; so my supposed 'standards' are not bad business at all. What a lot of assuming people do.
99.9%? Really?
I counted 4 designers that left DSP. I had no idea how many left but it sure shook up that community.
They don't have a huge list of designers like some other stores do.
did anyone ever find out what the deal was behind Margie leaving & Amanda taking charge again?
^^^^^
It was in the forums. Margie bought the site from Amanda in 2009 but due to unforeseen circumstances, that I'm not aware of, she couldn't finalize the purchase. Must have been some kind of payment plan or something.
#168 where did you see this. any links?
Not #168. I wouldn't say that all the designers that left joined the new store, but here it is:

As a shopper, I want to see CT pages that show me more of a kit, not how well some CTM wipes a designers ass.
--
I agree. I don't care how much the designer likes the ct member or how active a member is on some forum. I want to see quality pages done with the kit.
You are not the only kind of customer there is. Lots of customers do hang in the forums. I do what works for me and my position works just fine.
--
Unfortunately, if you're referring to SSD, the majority of women who hang out on that forum get the lion's share of their kits (if not all) free so participation on the forum really is for naught. As a customer who has neither the desire nor stomach to be on a ct, I don't give a rat's ass who is active on the store forum..or who is friendliest..or whatever. I want to see the kit scrapped by someone competent. Too often, that's hard to find. Maybe you designers should revisit your choices.
#187 four designers left DSP and all of those designers listed used to be at DSP.
I still think Babes should be like Traci Reed does her ct. Apply every year.
-
EXACTLY!
I see far too many CT layouts that use elements that are not in the kit they are showcasing. What's the point in that.

Agreed. I'm getting more and more where I don't even look at the galleries because of just that OR the layouts look like my five-year-old did 'em. You know, the messy, chaotic, piss-poor photo editing, STYLE lots of us don't like.
Maybe you designers should revisit your choices.
-----
Why? If it works, and works well, why change it?
But, the interesting thing to me is that whenever I found one I didn't care for, it used either Traci's, Jenn Barrett's or Krystal Hartley's kits.
-
The only thing the designer should be blamed for is choosing her in the first place to ct.
Why? If it works, and works well, why change it?

How do you know it couldn't work better? As a business person, you should constantly be looking at different ways to sell your product. Saying this works, not going to try anything else is pretty restrictive and close-minded. You'd think you'd want to hear from customers. It doesn't mean you have to change anything but being defensive about it is juvenile.
^^^^^^^^^^^
*don't do jack shit.
I'm tired and bored of this conversation.
Oh FFS, look at the typos. Damn sticky keyboard.
Yes, I'm aware they are there.

Well, pardon us. Go design then. My luck I buy from you and I really, really don't want to since you're an arrogant ass.

I think you said this because you are a fan of one (or all) of those three designers.
