September: Help Wanted!

Hey, guys!

It's that time... I need to pass the torch. Although this doesn't take up a lot of time, it's just one more thing on a growing list of things I need to do.

So, if someone would like to take over this blog as DigiSmacker, I can give you the account login information. Just shoot me an email or contact me via FB, and we'll get it worked out.

Or, if someone wants to start an entirely new blog, feel free. :)

Wow everyone is so catty today! Anyone want to start a new subject? Apparently the keyboard warriors are out in full force tonight, LOL.

On the whole tagger and full size kit usages, it isn't about reaching a larger audience. I co own a couple of stores that are strictly tagger size products, and they do a brisk business among the tagger community, this includes commercial and personal use products especially created with the tagger in mind. Also, I do traditional scrap kits for sale and script them down to tagger size as well, selling both sizes simply because my own customer base has many who buy both sizes, the smaller tagger size I do is still 300 DPI with 800 x 800 papers and elements around 60 percent of their original size, and people actually use these for printing of brag book covers and pages, bracket albums, cd albums etc. You'd be surprised at what people actually do with the smaller kits and just how much business is generated from these kits. Everyone is always on about how scrapping is just traditional, but there is a whole other market out there, and as I said, the taggers find it easier to buy these smaller kits instead of paying for a large one and go through all the trouble to re-size what they want, and if you look at the majority of tagger kits, you'll find that most are all cute, gothic, emo, bright, or they are made to match PTU tubes and poser figures. The tagger world is still very much in play, and as long as there is a market for them, people will buy them. Just because they don't fit the normal scrapper audience doesn't mean there isn't a place for them in the digital scrapping world. Some of my girls and a couple of guys make good paydays monthly from tagger kits, and these days, any bit of extra income is welcome, besides these people have turned a hobby into a little bit of profit.

Anonymous said...

For example, try this store, tubes and tagger kits, and they are pretty successful.

Anonymous said...

#5- How do you know they are successful? Unless of course you own that store.

Anonymous said...

We talk about what stores we think are top tier and are popular but what stores do you think won't stay around much longer? I'm not sure they will close but I think it's a matter of time before A5D closes their doors. They don't really have any jaw-dropping designers and the forum is dead.

Anonymous said...

That has been said about A5D for about two years now and it's still going.

Anonymous said...

#5- How do you know they are successful? Unless of course you own that store.

-----

She mentioned right at the start of her post at #4 that she co owned a few stores, maybe that's one of them.

Anonymous said...

#8- It's still going but it's not going strong.

#9- So it was her attempt at trying to get more business for her store.

Anonymous said...

#10 - does it matter?

Anonymous said...

6, 9 & 10....I think if I were going to try and drum up traffic and business for my stores that I would have posted their names. And no, I don't own or co own SAC, I just used it as an example of a successful taggers store. I was simply trying to provide a little insight to tagger stores and the tagging community overall since it seems not many of you know what taggers kits are good for, and some even think that taggers kits are not a part of the general digi scrap community. Not every bit of design work has to be about traditional scrapping. If you can have altered art, ATC, hybrid, digital, print, and any other type of scrap/design work, then why not a place for the tagger scrap people? It doesn't make what they do any less profitable or desirable...it's simply a matter of preference and digital design area.

Anonymous said...

#8- It's still going but it's not going strong.

Hasn't been for two years or more.

Anonymous said...

I'm not any of the previous posters here. Just want to say I appreciate #5 and #12's comments. We've been talking about this tagger issue on and off for a while here and not often that we get a legitimate answer and without temper like this. I like it when we're civil to each other. (But then again there's an inner bitch in me which I think the fact that I'm reading here is proof enough. LOL)

What happened to Valentina's painted stuff? She's now all into realistic? Did she get a wrist slap for her Disney inspired kits? I happen to love her crazy looking painted housewifes

Anonymous said...

There are stores out there that are never mentioned or not mentioned often who have survived for a long while. Their customer base is big and they don't worry about having any "big" named designers. The customers call the shots as to what kinds of kits and things they like and that's the bottom line. I read some of the same store names and designers over and over again and think to myself boy you all sure limit yourselves when it comes to finding some great designers and kits. I can bet you a lot of you buy only because the designer is a big name or the store is a top store. Sort of like being popular in highschool. I think that most of those stores have the same kind of styles and kits and it just gets plain boring. I look for the truly different kinds of stuff. I'm tired of the same flowers, ribbons, etc. etc.

As to the tagger stores, obviously they again look to a different kind of customer base. Nothing wrong with that in my book-not my thing and I think the half nude ladies are a bit much but I'm not going to say they don't have a place in the tagger community.

Anonymous said...

I really wish that when a designer moves stores, if they are Re-Releasing a kit in the New Release thread they would label it as a Re-Release!

Anonymous said...

#17 I'm with you.But because I've bought the same thing twice a few times I search my files before I buy something new in case I already have it.That search has saved me 10-20 times already.

Anonymous said...

#16 Give us examples.Which designers and stores are you referring to?

Anonymous said...

I disagree. After Five has amazing designers.I'm a regular customer there.I just think they keep it low.
I'm about to spend lots of money now that they have their sale.I have a huge wishlist.
I think these designers are amazing with different styles:
Boutique Cute Doll
Createwings Designs
emeto designs
et designs
Jofia Designs
K Studio
Kristin Aagard
Lily Designs
NewlifeDreamsDesigns
Palvinka Designs
Sugary Fancy Designs
Thaty Borges Designs

For me After Five is Top Tier.

Anonymous said...

#7 I'm curious.Which designers are jaw dropping for you?

Anonymous said...

Arent most forums much slower than they used to be? I think its harder to judge a store's business by forum activity than it used to be.

Anonymous said...

I agree with #20. I consistently find what I'm looking for @ After Five. To me, it's top tier, as well.

Anonymous said...

Someone on the previous page mentioned that SO is bleeding all the good designers. Where are those designers going? I don't shop there--just curious. Everybody is always talking about top tier stores, if a designer is already at one, which many of you have said SO is, then why would the designer leave and go to a lesser store? So what I guess I'm looking for is the better than SO store--the one that all these designers are going to.

Anonymous said...

I can't think of any designers who have left SO for other stores recently. I can think of some really popular ones who have retired though, like Irene Alexeeva and Faith True.

Anonymous said...

#24 Top Tier are:
1.The Lily Pad
2.After Five
3.Sweet Shoppe Designs
I haven't seen many designers leave when they sell their designs at these shops. Some left to open their personal stores for example Kimla and Designs by Dani or some leave because they retire.
Designers kill to sell at these shops.

#25 I know Jady Day Studio left Scrap Orchard and went to Sweet Shoppe Designs. Also Anna BV and Krisis Kreations retired from Scrap Orchard.I agree with you they lost lots of designers this past year due to retirement from designing. But maybe sales weren't going that well..who knows?

Anonymous said...

It's so hard for me to resist when After Five has a sale. There are so many great designers and I want to buy so many things.Looking at the designers I think After Five has the best selection, not even one designer is average.Every one of them has their style. As in Sweet Shoppe and The Lily pad you can tell the difference between the top and average designers.I don't mention other stores because I think they have less top designers and more average ones.
Just my personal opinion.

Anonymous said...

#16 - I can bet you a lot of you buy only because the designer is a big name or the store is a top store. Sort of like being popular in highschool.
--------------
Hahaha - what a load of bull. I don't know how much money you have to play with, but in this economy, I don't buy because someone is "popular". I buy because I plan on scrapping with the kit - NO other reason. And *I* bet a lot of other scrappers on the same way.

Anonymous said...

*are* the same way, not on.

Anonymous said...

I think there is more to the story about designers leaving Scrap Orchard.

For instance, Kay Miller didn't retire. Seems like she is busy adding product to her personal store:

http://kaymillerdesigns.com/shoppe/index.php?main_page=products_new&zenid=9ab560b1d34da5cc2f0441e89a0f3cab

Anonymous said...

What I can't stand are designers who store hop over and over again. Is it that hard to pick a store and make a home?

Anonymous said...

#30- Kay never said she was retiring.

Anonymous said...

Sales must be slowing down at SSD. Even Libby has a guest spot this month, at PBP.

Anonymous said...

Anyone know of someone who does QC for designers?

Anonymous said...

#30 The only new kit is the St Tropez page kit. Everything else as far as I can tell was already released at SO.

See her blog post below there is no more to her story only that designing is not a priority for her and she is happy just having a personal store.
http://myjoyfulmoments-kaym.blogspot.com/2012/08/hello-dear-friends-and-customers-i-have.html

Anonymous said...

Well said, #28. I absolutely agree 100%. The idea that I would buy a kit from a designer simply because of her name and/or store is preposterous...

Anonymous said...

Sales this year are even worse than last year. The market is really crappy right now across the board. I suspect for many designers, it would be a good reason to give up.

Anonymous said...

#31 I'm so with ya! Store hopping makes me just wonder why!?! And if I see it happen again & again, I'm deciding the designer isn't for me. I can understand if a designer change store one time, could be many reasons for that, but when it happens again & again & again, it's a total turn off.

Anonymous said...

I have come to realize that Krystal Hartley's products aren't as good as they appear.

Anonymous said...

34- I dont know of a service that is offered by anyone I would recommend. You might hold a CT type call for someone to do it for you. Depending on your kits, they might do it for just the kit or you might offer a few $$ per kit they QC.

Anonymous said...

#39 Why?

Digi Design Resort is offering a affiliate program for kits? WTH? I'm wondering if this would even be remotely effective?

It seems like making your CT pay for their kits, IMO (since you don't know if the LO will generate any sales for the store). My only problem with the program is that I'll look at a LO, click on the link provided in the credits to check out the kit but I usually buy it later, which means I go back to the store and use the store search feature to find the kit. (That's how I know if I really like it: if I take the time to find the kit again.)
Actually, my other problem is that I never shop at DDR, so I guess this wouldn't really affect me anyway.

Anonymous said...

It reeks of desperation to me. They are offering to pay anyone a commission who scraps with their products and links back to their crappy store using the affiliate link. I guess stores like that have to do whatever they can to drive traffic, not that i think it will help them much.

Anonymous said...

28-I buy the kits I like no matter if the designer is well known or not. I've found a lot of great designers that aren't the big name ones. Actually being on a store ct has helped broaden my horizons because I get the chance to try out most of the designers at the store. I recently bought a bunch of kits because of using one of the kits in fact. I've done that with at least three designers in the past month.

Anonymous said...

Affiliate marketing is very common for digital downloads. To be done honestly, though, most people will put an asterisk at the link and then explain somewhere that it is an affiliate link.

Anonymous said...

DDR is realy doing some "different" stuff. They even posted a product that was not theirs in the DST, it was an affiliate product. I know because I promoted the exact same product. It is a good product, but it is still an affiliate, and they are using DST to promote it. And I think it was more than one product too. I am not sure if "different" is "good" in this case. I don't know. Would they make more money than marketing their own products and designers?

Some people just do not know how to read - what's the point in naming a designer to be featured that has already been featured!

http://www.digishoptalk.com/boards/showthread.php?t=308822

Anonymous said...

I absolutely detest when people just copy/paste the names of those they CT for. It immediately discredits them in my book.

Also, when someone hasn't been mentioned, and then they are talked about for 10 posts in a row, within 10 minutes? I'm pretty sure someone used a bat phone.

Anonymous said...

I loved how the Connie Prince and Trixi Scraps people were out in force. How come they didn't notice that those designers had already been featured if they are such fans? Same for the Creashen fans.

And who the heck is Keystone? I checked her stuff - absolutely ordinary!

Anonymous said...

#49 I completely agree with you on detesting people who only copy/paste the names of those they CT for!

Anonymous said...

#49 that and the store they are at. You can see just by the names they mentionned. One even named herself.

Anonymous said...

One even named herself.
-----------
Really? I missed that one!

Anonymous said...

#53 Yes scrappymelly named Scrappy Creations by Melanie and if you look at her siggy it's her.

Anonymous said...

49-My favorite designers ARE the ones I CT for, so for me, it would be logical to put those names down.

Anonymous said...

48-I've only been digi scrapping for about three months, so I didn't go back 100 years to figure out which designer has already been featured. If I mentioned someone that has already been featured, I can extend an apology.

Anonymous said...

Yeah... pretty hard to scroll through the ALPHABETICAL list in the first post, right? ;)

55- Really? You can't think of a single designer you're not affiliated with that you like?

Anonymous said...

57 I'm 55-yes I have other designers I like, and I also would put those on the last. As it is, I didn't vote.

Anonymous said...

"...who are YOUR favorite designers, so tell us who you love? Who's out there new since we asked last? Who's a longtime favorite who's never been featured here at DST?"

This does not say ONLY those who have never been featured before. Seems to me one can read and still list a previously featured designer "who you love ... "

Anonymous said...

I guess you can read it literally like that. I guess you can nominate the same ones over. Go for it. Your nomination will likely be tossed out the window then. Why would they bother to post, ALPHABETICALLY the name of the past featured designers? For added publicity?

Sbpoet: Ah, well. Embrace it!

Anonymous said...

've only been digi scrapping for about three months, so I didn't go back 100 years to figure out which designer has already been featured.

You didn't have to go back 100 years - there was an alphabetical list on the first page - hence my original observation of some people don't read.

Anonymous said...

This does not say ONLY those who have never been featured before. Seems to me one can read and still list a previously featured designer "who you love ...

If you wish to interpret it that way. However, considering the post is about future featured designers, it's pointless listing those that have already been featured. It's not about favorites, it's about favorites that haven't been featured.

Anonymous said...

70-I'm 55 and 58, and I didn't vote, and I don't know DeannaJ, so calling her out here is yelling in the wind.

Amen sister, I have come to the conclusion that 75% of the people at DST never really READ the OP. Happens every day in the ISO, someone will specify no fantasy or realistic items and BOOM! 3 pages of fantasy and realistic posting.

Anonymous said...

Can we say blatant copyright infringement?
http://www.sherykdesigns-blog.com/2012/01/free-printable-bithday-kit-angry-birds.html

Anonymous said...

Oh wow! She must be getting some backlash over it because I notice a comment was removed by her and now all comments are going to moderation. Wow, talk about blatantly not caring about copyright and going to great lengths to ignore it when someone tries to bring it to your attention.

Anonymous said...

From Jenn's OP "so tell us who you love? Who's out there new since we asked last? Who's a longtime favorite who's never been featured here at DST?"

These last two sentences QUALIFY the kind of designers they are looking for. So, yes, they did specify. As already stated, they aren't going to re-feature them. If you want to kiss a designer's ass, do so directly not via a worthless nomination.

Not only are you making yourself look like a kiss-ass you're also making yourself look like an idiot that either can't read or has no reading comprehension skills.

Geeze 50 posts about something so menial. Who cares.

Anonymous said...

34 - I do QC, but me posting here anonymously doesn't help you much. Sorry.

FWIW - my 'fee' is the item if it's a designer I would normally buy from or from $3-$10.

I would love to see some previously featured designers featured again. (1) I just joined the Gold membership earlier this year, so I don't have their previous Gold kits and (2) styles change--both the designers' styles and my style. So I'd love to see a few designers I missed the first time around featured again because now I'd actually use their kits lol. Maybe they could do a Gold 2.0 or something, where 12 previous designers are featured again. (Maybe that's how they can earn enough money to run the site...)

Anonymous said...

82-Since I've only been digi scrapping for a short time, I'd love to see some of them on the list return too. I don't have a gold membership yet. Can't decide if it would be worth it or not. I'd love the site to sell the monthly kit separate for those of us that don't have a membership. It might entice me to join.

Anonymous said...

That angry bird printable is from January... doubt she's getting flack about it just now.

Anonymous said...

As a designer I don't see any advantage in being chosen. Maybe in DST's heyday, but not now.

Anonymous said...

#70 DeannaJ said it was from her siggy in the first line of her post. If she CT's for a designer then obviously she loves their designs so why would she not want to see them featured?

I agree with #85 I fail to see an advantage to being chosen, after all the paid membership crap I know lots of people who aren't even visiting DST anymore most have moved on to MSA or RLS.

Anonymous said...

Even in the hey day of DST, I know some designers who were asked and refused the 'honor'. Those few designers I know who were featured said it didn't make any difference to their sales.

Anonymous said...

Well, it made a small difference in mine at the time...nothing substantial enough where I'd do it again though, and, especially not now.

Anonymous said...

Hello?

Anonymous said...

Yes, its quiet today.

Anonymous said...

Maybe that is good?

Anonymous said...

hmmmm....Berry Sweet Scraps is having a designer call. Shall we discuss? LOL

Anonymous said...

Here's something that I have been wondering. What are your specIfIc pet peeves about different digi shops and sites?

Anonymous said...

I guess I am too nice- I don't really have any shops to pick on.

Anonymous said...

#93- Gallery limits, slow running forums and ugly site colors.

Anonymous said...

I am just curious. Why gallery limits? I guess I would think galleries would be expensive.

I don't like how are designer digital Katie p.'s stuff comes up first in new products, and the rest of the designers appear to be an afterthought.

Anonymous said...

She is probably their biggest money maker so they feature her first. Not affiliated so that is an assumption.

I dont like when designers put their products in totally inappropriate categories, or worse every category. Makes it so hard to find things.

Anonymous said...

94-It does seem like a waste of time doesn't it? I always shop where I want to shop even if it is one of the ones that gets trashed here. I think other people do too or those stores wouldn't be opened any more.

Anonymous said...

97- I think she owns DD.

Anonymous said...

Hmm ... About the only pet peeve I can think of is having the store search not work right or well. If I want to find something, I want to be able to search for it (this also means the designers or whoever does this needs to add the search terms to each kit).

Anonymous said...

Hmm ... About the only pet peeve I can think of is having the store search not work right or well. If I want to find something, I want to be able to search for it (this also means the designers or whoever does this needs to add the search terms to each kit).

-------------

It's the designer's job to add search words but most of them don't.

Anonymous said...

That is true, but if you search for a word and it is in the kit title it should come up. Its really annoying when it doesnt.

Anonymous said...

Katie P does indeed own DD.

I dislike clunky menu systems, DD is a good example of a clunky menu system. You can sort by either designer, or, wait for it, designer.

When I want to look for elements, I want to see all the elements offered by all the designers, not just one particular designer. If I had wanted to do that, I would have searched by designer. I love where I can search by a designer and then by a particular product.

Anonymous said...

You can search by designer and product in every X-cart store. You just have to do the advanced search under the search box. Pick a category. Pick a designer.

DD is one of the worst stores to navigate. No two pages are the same in that place, and every page arranges the products differently. If I go to Ali Edwards' store it's by date, but if I go to Elements then Ali Edwards it's alphabetical. I don't like any store that sorts the results alphabetically. I never know if I'm looking at something from last week or last year.

SSD is that way, too. Everything comes up alphabetically. I know I can sort by date by clicking on the button at the top but just make it by date to begin with. I usually just want to see what's new from a designer. If I know the exact name I won't be paging through their store alphabetically to find it anyway. I'll just search for it.

I like the stores that display everything in a grid. Newest first. I like when you can find things by themes, too. Not all stores have that, but it's nice for holiday kits or birthday kits.

Anonymous said...

Does anybody know if Digiscrapalooza is going to be on in Vegas in 2013?

Anonymous said...

I don't have "inside" information, but I think it will be.

Anonymous said...

Geez 92 are you one of those Charly haters, or do you have a problem with Berry Sweet Scraps in general? You do realize that just because you have a problem with one or the other, (Charly or the store) it doesn't mean everyone else does.

Anonymous said...

My pet peeves would be stores that have designers who don't double check their attributes to make sure they attached, or don't double check permissions on the files. I have shopped at stores before where this happens giving me an error, and it has taken days to get the store owner to respond. That keeps me from coming back to shop, no matter how I like a product or designer, I'll find them and take my business elsewhere.

Anonymous said...

Geez 92 are you one of those Charly haters, or do you have a problem with Berry Sweet Scraps in general? You do realize that just because you have a problem with one or the other, (Charly or the store) it doesn't mean everyone else does.
-----

Not the OP, but seriously? Where on earth does she say she hated the store or the owner? If you saw any implication that she hated the store, that says way more about you than it does the OP.

Stop reading your own hatred into everything. You'll feel better, I promise.

Anonymous said...

Pet Peeves:

When designers have their TOU in EVERY SINGLE DOWNLOAD, including the anti piracy image, the link to blog, the link to facebook, the thank you image. Put it in ONE of the downloads personally I would like it in the elements download.

When a designer moves stores and releases a "new product" that was actually already released at another store. They should put a note on it to say its not really new.

When there are no CT LO previews in the store. I want to see the kit in action.

When you search for something in a store and it brings up every item in the store.

Anonymous said...

Stop reading your own hatred into everything. You'll feel better, I promise.

-----seriously? You saw hatred in that?

109 I don't have hatred for her or the store, just the opposite. I've always had no problem with her and I like the store and many of the designers in it. If you go back a month or two to the fiasco over Charly buying that store that was closing, then you'll see a bunch of Charly haters, and since Charly also co owns Berry Sweet Scraps, it was my assumption that 92 was trying to bring up Charly again because they weren't very nice about her a few topics back. Just because someone tries to get ahead and is always in the middle of things doesn't make them a bad person nor does it call for the bitterness that came out about her purchase and then letting go the store after she was yanked by the hair through here.

Anonymous said...

You need to go find something to do...a person makes an innocuous statement about a ct call and you come out guns ablazin' ; you need to find a cause worth fighting for...how about some volunteer work?

Anonymous said...

110 - If the elements and papers are sold sperately then it's unavoidable because they aren't going to upload the paper zip twice just to eliminate the tous in one download. The link to the download for the papers for sale and the papers in the kit are the same.

Anonymous said...

I'm 92. And yes, I tend to have a dry sense of humor. Its this little thing called sarcasm, see. And I know not everyone gets it.

I dont hate Charly. I dont know her or care one way or the other the call. It was quiet here, and I was making a joke. I could have just as easily pointed out that With Love Studio was having a call.

Lighten up and get over yourself.

Anonymous said...

That should say "about the call"

SM acceptances have gone out. I know of one designer closing the two stores she's in so she can be at SM. (They require exclusivity.)

Anonymous said...

Anyone know what's up with Jennifer Labre? I just saw the cryptic FB post about her closing at SO today. No closing sale or anything. Thought it was weird...

Anonymous said...

Sounded like she and Kami or whomever didn't get along... I don't think Kami was happy she was there for some reason. Yup... weird... but I'm guessing, no insider info.

Anonymous said...

#117- I think she is retiring.

#116- I didn't realize SM was exclusive again. Does SM have good enough sales for a designer to go exclusive there?

Anonymous said...

118- Kami owns SO. Why would she have let Jenn sell there if she didn't like her? Maybe Jenn didn't have good enough sales for Kami.

Anonymous said...

Here's Jennifer's update on the fan page:

"Sometimes things happen to you that you are so excited about, such a dream come true, that it is almost unbelievable when they turn out very differently. The last thing I ever expected was to be announcing that I was leaving Scrap Orchard and certainly not this soon. But, today, I am doing just that. Sometime today, if not already, my store there will be closed. Although it was truly a dream come true for me, sometimes things just don't work out quite the way you expect. And while I'm not going to go on and on about it, I will simply say that it is for the best and I am looking forward to a(nother) brand new start for me. Well, maybe it's not exactly brand new, but more like going home. I'm excited to share that news with you very soon. Until then, I'm going to get back to designing so that I can bring you lots of goodies this October."

Doesn't look like she's retiring?

Anonymous said...

Oh boy! I wonder what happened at SO for her to leave like this.

Anonymous said...

And I wonder what she did for SO to kick her out so fast.

Anonymous said...

Or why she was pissed enough to leave? Its not always the designers fault.

Anonymous said...

92, I wasn't talking to you...I was talking to the person I posted directly under, therefore, didn't think I had to spell it out...but I know some people don't get it..you're a tad defensive, don't ya think? Maybe you should work on that. Defensiveness coupled with "sarcasm" = childish banter better kept to oneself

So get over YOURSELF, work on your reading comprehension AND that endearing "dry" sense of humor...what a dumbass...

Anonymous said...

If you ever needed proof that people will buy from "big name" designers.....

http://www.silhouetteonlinestore.com/v2/viewShape.aspx?id=32177

Searching popular designs, this is on page 14 of 727 pages.

How would you even use that? Each letter cuts out and you have to glue it down?

Anonymous said...

125- Not 92 but the person who posted under 92 asked about pet peeves. I'm confused how the two relate? Maybe you will call me a dumbass too.

Seems to me that 107 is a tad sensitive.

Anonymous said...

One Little Bird is moving to TLP. It was in her newsletter.

Anonymous said...

#128- Like that was a shock!

Anonymous said...

With all the designers moving around like this, it's really hard to keep up with them! How long ago did Jennifer move to SO?? It seems like she wasn't there long at all. After reading all the things about having to repackage everything, you'd think it was hardly worth it. I hope she's happy wherever it is she's going (going home) so I guess if we knew where she came from, we know where she'll be.

Anonymous said...

Didn't Jennifer start out at SM?

She's not the one I was referring to in my OP (#116).

Anonymous said...

130: According to her blog, she debuted at OS on Aug 30. http://www.confessionsofadigitalscrapper.com/2012/08/big-news-new-store-grand-opening-sale.html
"That's right, I'm now an Orchard Girl! And I am so thrilled to call SO my exclusive home. And to be honest, I hope I never have to move again! ;)"

I wonder what happened.

Anonymous said...

131-I think so. SM seems to be picking up quite a few designers. I actually have never cared for that store, but maybe I'll see what is changing for them.

Anonymous said...

I'd love to know why some designers have posted about a sudden store closing on their FB in the past and y'all have ripped them to shreds, automatically assuming the designer did something wrong. But Jennifer Labre goes all drama diva like that and she gets--- sympathy? Makes no sense to me.

Anonymous said...

#134 - I don't really have enough info to assume either way, so I'm not going to rip into her or profess sympathy. I posted here hoping to rustle up a little more info on what really went on there. Or at least enjoy a bit of gossip LOL. More than likely (like most things in life), neither side is 100% perfect/blameless.

Having dealt with Kami in the past, I have a hard time imagining it's her fault.

Anonymous said...

(Her = Kami)

Anonymous said...

Stop reading your own hatred into everything. You'll feel better, I promise.

-----seriously? You saw hatred in that?

-----

What are you talking about?

Anonymous said...

it was my assumption that 92 was trying to bring up Charly again because they weren't very nice about her a few topics back.
------

That's where you went wrong, you assumed a bunch of stuff from one single post. Don't assume, it makes you look like an ass.

Anonymous said...

But Jennifer Labre goes all drama diva like that and she gets--- sympathy?
-----

She's not getting my sympathy.

Having dealt with her in the past, I know she's a two faced cow.

Anonymous said...

140- Really?

Anonymous said...

Having dealt with Kami in the past, I have a hard time imagining it isn't.

Anonymous said...

Have the new designers for OScraps been announced yet? Any thoughts on who will get on?

Anonymous said...

140- Really?

----

Yes, really.

Anonymous said...

#139, I wholeheartedly agree.

Anonymous said...

I think Studio Cappucino aka the famous Tamara is going at SM. She is closing her stores.

http://studiocappuccino.blogspot.ca/

Anonymous said...

The Hidden Heart is leaving A5D.

Anonymous said...

I thought he was retiring from designing to concentrate on something else, like school maybe? Not sure where I read that, a few weeks ago.

Anonymous said...

#149- He has another design name debuting with someone else. This would be his 3rd design name.

Anonymous said...

^^ That should be #148

Anonymous said...

Sweet Digi Scraps is closing her stores to go exclusive somewhere too - I would assume SM

Anonymous said...

146- Why is Tamara famous?

Anonymous said...

#152- #146 was using sarcasm. I have never heard of her.

Anonymous said...

#152- #146 was using sarcasm. I have never heard of her.

---------

She used to be Monkey Mesh designs. A real drama girl.

Anonymous said...

#154- Her stuff isn't all that good. I wonder why SM would take her on as a designer.

Anonymous said...

Interesting about Jenn Labre. I think she started out at as a CT at SM and TDC, so maybe one of those places is her "home". I don't know anything, just speculating.

Anonymous said...

155-I do like her hand drawn elements. You don't find that in many kits. That makes her unique. Most of the designers use recolored CU things instead.

Anonymous said...

How do you go from a name like Monkey Mesh to Studio Cappucino?

Anonymous said...

#158- Maybe she likes cappucino?

Anonymous said...

Ever hear of a capuchin monkey?

Anonymous said...

160- So your saying Studio Cappucino named herself after a monkey?

Anonymous said...

#161 - If she was once Monkey Mesh and now Studio Cappucino, maybe she just likes them. Who knows?

Anonymous said...

And it's official: Captivated Visions is moving to SBG

Anonymous said...

Wow!I think Jenneifer Labre has the record of shortest stay in a store. She started selling at Scrap Orchard on August 30 and left on September 21st.Too bad there was no sale..
I love it when designers move around because of all the sales going on.
#110 I agree with you.
Other Pet Peeves:
When designers don't include a preview of the kit and I have to go back and save a copy from the site. It's a rare thing but it has happened.
Also when a designer doesn't keep the files in a folder when I unzip,I hate that. When I unzip they're all over the place in my digital orders folder with tons of things and I try to gather them all in one folder.Irene Alexeeva used to do that.
I hate it when I can't save the ct layouts from the site.I need them for inspiration.

Anonymous said...

Who predicted Captivated Visions was leaving Scrap Orchard?
Ok what's up with Scrap Orchard?I'm guessing it will be the next castle going down.I just hope they'll have their annual Farmer's Market so I can buy all the stuff I have on my wishlist.

Anonymous said...

Captivated Visions style fits well with Scrapbook Graphics.I never felt she belonged at Scrap Orchard.Too artsy..

Anonymous said...

Well, it certainly seems like there is soemthing going on at SO.

Anonymous said...

I don't know why Tamara changed her design name, but she was at Me So Scrappy and their theme was coffee. It may or may not have been because of that. Just guessing.

Anonymous said...

So Captivated Visions is leaving SO too. Ghost Town.

Anonymous said...

Big Shock. CV is moving. My guess is SBG.

Anonymous said...

She IS going to SBG! I am shocked. I never would have expected her to leave SO. She always seemed so happy there.

Anonymous said...

#169 I don't see how CV and Jenn Labre leaving makes SO a ghost town. CV's style is way more appropriate for SBG, and there was clearly some kind of craziness with Jenn Labre. So two designers leaving doesn't clean out the store. Unless there are others leaving we don't know about??...

Anonymous said...

#169 - Ghost Town? Jumping to conclusions there are we? or do you have information we don't?

Anonymous said...

"#169 - Ghost Town? Jumping to conclusions there are we? or do you have information we don't?"
Do tell!

Anonymous said...

Im with #173-174. Please do tell! Who else is leaving?

Anonymous said...

Designers move around all the time. So CV is leaving SO--someone else will probably join there soon. It all evens out.

Anonymous said...

But Jennifer Labre goes all drama diva like that and she gets--- sympathy?
-----

She's not getting my sympathy.

Having dealt with her in the past, I know she's a two faced cow.

-----

I've had the same experience with her. Call me a bitch but I laughed when I heard her shop got closed at SO. If she was moving on her own terms, wouldn't she have had a sale or something? Why move there and in less than a month move again? I think SHE must have done something to get booted. It wouldn't surprise me.

Anonymous said...

What's happened to Weeds & Wildflowers? It seems to have been quiet for a few months already.

Anonymous said...

Captivated Visions style fits well with Scrapbook Graphics.I never felt she belonged at Scrap Orchard.Too artsy..
-------------

The same could have been said about Irene Alexeva, who even guested at SBG for about two months or more and she never stayed on there. I'm sure she was asked because of the long guest gig

Anonymous said...

#177 - good to know it wasn't just me. I could have a good guess at what may have happened, using my experiences with her, but that would be bitchy.

Anonymous said...

178- They still release every now and then but not like they used to.

Anonymous said...

CV's style was fine for SO when she started there but she's gone all artsy so SBG makes sense.

Anonymous said...

#177 -- the same thing happened with Trixie at PBP, she was there longer but it was a sudden store closing with no explanation. One day she was there, the next not.

Anonymous said...

Come on, 177 and 180. Give us more!

Anonymous said...

#177 -- the same thing happened with Trixie at PBP, she was there longer but it was a sudden store closing with no explanation. One day she was there, the next not.
----------------------------
PBP shut her down. I don't know all the details, but I heard it was because Trixie Scraps pulled her usual drama-queen crap and they got sick of it. I'm on the CT of a designer there and she says the owner is professional and easy to work with.

Anonymous said...

#184 - let's just say I don't take kindly to CTMs who don't follow through on their obligations

Anonymous said...

#186- So you must be a designer that Jenn CT'd for in the past? She hasn't CT'd for alot of designers so which one are you? The list is short.

Anonymous said...

#187 - if the list is that short, why not try and guess?

Anonymous said...

I realize Re Kneipp is 16 years old and might be to young to be a designer. However, you would think his sister would tell him that retiring, coming back with a new design name 3 times, isn't the way to make your sales any better.

Anonymous said...

If he is a teen, why would he listen to his sister anyways?

Anonymous said...

Emmasmommy at SSD, what's her deal? She seems so sweet at SSD but her FB posts are not quite as nice.

Anonymous said...

I'm #177 -- I honestly don't know what happened I just saw that one day there, the next gone and nothing was said by either party. I don't know about Trixie's drama to say either way but I do know the owner at PBP is really great.

Anonymous said...

#191- I think everyone is different on their FB pages not just her. I would suggest that you block her or just unfriend her if it bugs you that much. Most forums have rules and FB doesn't. Krystal Hartley seems so sweet and nice at SSD but shes disgusting and acts like a totally different person on FB. I lost total respect for her. Traci Reed is another one who is like that.

Anonymous said...

#190- Good point!

Anonymous said...

Did anyone find out why Jenn Labre left SO suddenly yet? I have never had issues with Jenn so I would love to know if it was Kami. Kami can be a bit snotty.

Anonymous said...

#191: Care to share? I'm not friends with her online or IRL.

Anonymous said...

#196- I think they mean that her forum attitude is different that her FB one. Which is pretty common with many people from what I see.

Anonymous said...

SSD is where she "works" and her FB is her personal space. Of course they're different. She's not hanging out at SSD just for shits and giggles, she's posting there as part of her CT obligation.

Anonymous said...

Some CT obligations have rules about how you have to act in the forums but not on your own FB page, which is why people might seem different. Do you really think all designers are sweet and nice like they are in the forums?

Laura Banasiak seems to have gotten very full of herself or has she always been like this?
